Take it from someone who's owned a ITR & S2K. I purchased a 2017 SI Couple New and drove it hard stock on mountain roads from 2017 until 2021. I traded it in for a New CTR. The SI couple was a blast to drive. The value was crazy! I even got mine a thousand under Msrp. No other car in the market during that time could touch the features and benefits for that price point. I paid 23k for mine and got 19K when I traded it back. Had zero issues with the SI. It's a amazing car.
In my opinion, Honda doesn’t mess up with their cars. Sure they created something different, and it might not be better than k20/24, but the L15b7 is still great motor.
I disagree. The L15 is trash. Honda refused to fix my Si under warranty when it had a burnt exhaust valve, because they said I had changed the intake lol. I made it run and traded that Pile in. Ill stick with the Old School Honda motors 🔥🔥
@@tyhyhh That wasn’t the point. The L15 is plain trash either way. Especially if it can’t hold up to a CAI and 40k miles. There’s a very reputable engine rebuilder down in Florida, who is also on UA-cam. He breaks down the entire L15. Its trash. Every motor Honda is building aside from the CTR is trash. They are geared towards economic goals. And you guy’s are out here throwing dollars like you’re at a strip club just to make numbers and say I did it. There’s no reliability in those motors and that’s Facts..
In my opinion the 10th and 11thgen 1.5Ts are absolutley amazing for being the size of a lawnmower engine. While still getting around 40mpg on road trips. I'm actually shocked everyday on how this tiny motor pulls my Integra around. Which is a little heavier and bigger than the 10th and 11thgen Si
It really depends on your goals for the car. I almost purchased an SI in 2019. But I would've needed to rebuild the engine and trans to upgrade it to over 400whp. So I bought an FK8 Type R instead. I'm currently at 460whp with just FBO, PRL P600, and Hondata Fuel System. The car has a stock block, stock head, and stock trans. So the cost ratio for making power was a little better in the Type R for me.
RSX is a great car, still own my 2002. Just picked up a 2013 Si and absolutely love it. RSX gives more of a luxury/ softer ride and feels refined, civic Si is more sport feel IMHO.
11thgens are amazing. Im still stock clutch FBO pushing 22psi about 246 hp. We max at 254 hp on stock turbo running E30. 25k miles, 2.5 years later no issues.
I bought a used 2020 Civic Si Coupe for 33k miles and the only problem I had was the axle boot leaking. After the replacement at Honda, it was good as new! No problems with the stock clutch because I don't drive the car hard. Added a HKS Hi-Power exhaust was enough for me! ♡
I drive an 18 Si, bought it used with 12k miles on it back in 2020 and now I have 53k miles and it still runs like a champ. The only thing I’ve done to my Si was just KTuner, Rev9 Intercooler and PRL Shortram Intake. I use it as my daily but I love the car! I chose the si for fuel efficiency, you can’t beat 38-40mpg since I mainly drive all highway. Also the 10th gen is just a sexy car in my opinion 😂 Good video bro, sure do miss your content! Have a good one Tony 😎
@@IPhenton aww nice, I’m planning on getting this car. Hence why i wanted to know . The only thing I don’t really want to do is an exhaust because if it’s to loud I run the risk of getting pulled over . ( I live in California) anyway thanks for the info😊
I’m newer to the Honda scene. I bought a 20th gen LX with the CVT. I had so much fun with that base car that I fell in love with Hondas and a year later I gave that car to my wife, and purchased a 2018 si. I just took that car through a tight canyon with my wife today and she goes “ it still amazes me how good this car is.” The civic si is the best car
Idk how you could enjoy the 10th gen more then the 8th or 9th gen. I understand it's personal preference but the 8th or 9th gen cars have so much personality. I bought a 10th gen and after 6 months I sold it because I wasn't having fun. The car was very numb and lacked a soul. The thing with the 8th and 9th gen Sis you could have fun with low power mainly becuase of Vtec. Revving it out to redline with an awesome sound. I even did several mods attempting to make it better but it still didn't feel like the Civic Si I grew to love over the years. It felt more like a normal daily driving Civic. It was a great commuter car but that wasn't what I was looking for. For the same price I paid for the SI I could of got a VA STI, Golf R or an American car like a Mustang/Camaro. I already have a VA STI so I traded the SI in for a low milage 2021 Mustang GT. 20k miles for $30k out the door. Added 2 mods to the Mustang and I dynoed at at 496WHP. Long tube headers and a tune on E85. I understand it's all personal preference and to each their own.
My 10th Gen Si coupe has had no problems with the clutch or engine at 60,000 miles. I use it to commute to work and don’t run it into the ground. I say 🧢 to the reliability critique.
agreed, i just hit 51k and I run it somewhat hard sometimes but not always since it is my daily but clutch has been holding up with the tune and full exhaust I still get 27mpgs just commuting between work home and school I couldn't love it more
I think people are failing to realize that anybody trying to get their civic to 3xxhp has money to either buy a ctr or something else. The average person is not trying to put that money into the car and still needs fuel efficiency
My 17 Si just hit 130k miles. Super reliable! Other than my injectors going out at 100k and now my clutch starting to go I think it’s pretty damn reliable! I love this thing!!
I have 2019 SI sedan it's been fun so far got mine used unfortunately but still runs like a champ💪 got ktuner v2 on TSP Stage 1 Tune Downpipe,PRL SRI,Injen Intercooler/charge pipe so far clutch still holding great.
same here bro I kinda wish I had got a couple but I love my sedan and I pretty much have the same setup and she's crispy I got her used with 17k on it now I'm at 51k
I got my 2020 Si in 2020 and I currently have 108k miles in it. Still rocking the stock clutch and I haven’t had any issues with the car outside of wheel bearings going out at 50k and got that fixed under warranty. Only mods in the car are Fortune Auto 510 coilovers. HKS error canceling kit and an Acuity throttle spacer. The car is great for a family hauler with spirited driving. It’s nothing like my Honda VFR800 or my prelude from back in the day. Older Hondas are just better in my mind. I feel like Honda dropped the ball with the Si to focus 100% on the type R and the aftermarket def proves it.
I definitely agree but I don't regret buying it at all reliability has been great so far I haven't had any problems, I'm FBO besides the TIP I have a tsp stage one tune and the car runs amazing. my next goal is replace the clutch and head studs soon so I can put the 27won w1 turbo on and leave it at that
Just got done paying off my 10th Gen Si at 55K miles. Bone stock, regular maintenance, and no issues whatsoever! I might plan on adding a 27 Won intake in the future along with a new exhaust system.
I’m ngl bro I started in a Type R which I still own but I also bought a 10Th gen Si for the simple fact it got features I love about the car , the sun roof , the side view camera it’s just a nice car to have fun and drive everyday , no issues at all yet , prolly Had more recalls with my fuel pump on my FK8 then my Si lol. Growing Up I always wanted a WRX but once I drove the Type R I just couldn’t go with the Sti , I’ll keep my Si till it calls it last day & my type R as well 🤙🏽
I enjoy watching your videos because you know your stuff. I never have a moment where I am thinking "oh this guy doesn't know what he's saying" or "what he just said isn't true" you actually have done research and it shows, amazing job loving the videos
No vtec stigma stuck to it real good! But its truly the next gen in civic performance. I love my 10th and sport mode features is next level. Haters gna hate!
I’ve had a 19 Civic Si for 3 years now bought new and it now has 110K miles on it, blew the head gasket at 106K now spun a rod bearing at 110K. On a stock car other than an intake and TSP Stage 1+. In my opinion doesn’t compare to older Si Civics. Making 250WHP and blowing up twice in less than 5K miles is crazy to me and it really done me in that the 10th gen Si platform isn’t a great platform. Although, I will say the stock clutch has held up amazing considering how much abuse it has had.
It makes my brain melt seeing old videos of the SI promising like 400 WHP after mods like bro. Most people will not make 300 without ending in an inferno blast.
recent 10th gen owner here. the only think I hate about it is the markup price I had to pay for a decent low mileage one... otherwise at stock, it's a very enjoyable daily drive car
Hey Tony, I recently got rid of my 10thgen Si coupe for an Integra. In my opinion, it's the best Si made to date. It pulled a .97G turn bone stock and hit 6.3 and 14.8 in the 60/1/4. Had the adaptive suspension. They ended up selling my 2019 for 26k! I miss that car and would get another. The one thing I will say, I like the new 1.5T w vtec a little more. It gives you a little bit of the old school NA feeling and pulls up top. The new 1.5T in a 10thgen coupe would be interesting 👍🏻 The Integra is a bit heavier
I paid $27K OTD for a 2019 a few months ago 😂. Low mileage, one owner, mint condition. I negotiated hard for that price. Back and forth. Left the dealership. The whole game, and the dealership still barely budged. I should've just passed on it. BTW, I love it. I know it's not a beast, but it's quick enough for me, with a few bolt ons, and It's so fun to drive and pretty comfy.
I felt that over time the gap between the Si and the Type R was widening. The 8th gen Si was so good that with a couple of bolt ons and a tune you can match or exceed the FD2 Type R stock. With the 10th and 11th gen you can't do that. I might get hate for this but I think with the introduction of the 10th gen Type R, Honda really neutered their Si line to differentiate the trims. I am an owner of an FA5 and I love the K-Series. I did drive a 10th gen and it felt really nice but there was no drama I was expecting near the redline. My next car is probably going to be a WRX once they have their Eyesight integration confirmed or just save for a Type R or GR Corolla.
'18 Si, PRL big turbo (2860gen2), fbo, e30, tuned by DRob/IMW @ 345whp/308wtq, 38k miles with turbo kit and 64k overall. virgin engine and not a single mechanical issue. love my Si. i got the Si because the R was over $60k +TTL at the time of purchase and i got the Si for $26k OTD.
No joke, the hate on this specific car ain't a joke. When the X-Gen first came out i didn't like the body styling, neither had i liked the motor they went with ⏩ 6 years later, I just sold my 2010 Acura TSX for my 2020 X-Gen. I got my Si a month ago with 18k miles & I'm regretting my speeches & hate i gave this car. If you're a big power chaser dont get the Si, but the torque in this 1.5 DAILY is enough to always keep you smiling not to mention you be at 250+ hp& trq with a few bolt ons & you unlock more. There's never a dull moment in this car unless you're chasing high power demands.
One thing nobody mentions.. The 10thgen handles better than any other year Si made 👍🏻 2017 Car and Driver We pulled 0.97 g on the skidpad with the eyeball burner on these pages (Honda calls the color Energy Green), tying the likes of the BMW M3 and the Jaguar F-type.
Also keep in mind for the 10th gen the si has pretty much the same engine as other civic models. Unlike every other generation si they had a whole different engine then other civic models. But thats because we got the type r back for the 10th gen. So if they gave the si the k20c it would take away from the type r. I guess u can say the type r coming back took away the hype of the 10th gen si.
They do have the same engine. BUT Honda has put way more development in the L15b7 specifically, which only comes in the si models. Things like sodium filled valves, stronger pistons, etc.
The friction disk is faulty on some si from factory. Mine was replaced at 52k free of charge. There is a service bulletin so if yours is slipping , chattering etc. take it in. Your powertrain warranty is good for 5 years or 60k.
I think it's the 1.5 vs. the original higher revving powerplant. It could be superior performance wise, but the older one had that character to it. I'd say not hate, just missing what once was.
Unless you're boosting the old vtecs, the tq between the new 1.5Ts and the old vtecs is night and day. Bolt-ons vs bolt-ons the newer Si's are superior. Coming from someone who owned Integra GSRs, RSX-S, 9thgen Si, 10thgen Si and now the Integra Aspec
I don't own an Si but I have a 2019 Touring Coupe and the one issue it's had is with the air conditioner condenser which Honda replaced under warranty, other than that the car has been great.
Thanks for the informative video! I just picked up a 2020 FK7 in a 6 speed. I came from a EK hatch. This thing feels like a damn Acura with all this tech lool. I’m planning on staying on the conservative side of the power mods since I heard the stock clutch can’t hold. My plan is to intake. DP & PF & catback with a hondata flash pro.
As a former dealer tech, I've ever seen any issues with the L15B7/ L15BA motors so long as they're maintained properly by the owners. However, those motors, even on the Si, are more for fuel efficiency than power anyways.
I went from a 97 ex I had (still have, still stock) since 2001 to a slightly used 2018 si in 2018. The difference was huge! lol I loved it. I loved actually having some go and handling. But it just felt lacking and definitely could feel the stock tune holding back which was annoying. Ktuned it with TSP stage 1 which was great. Had zero issues with the car except for the AC, which lead me to bringing it into the dealer. They fixed the AC under the extended warranty and I left with a 2023 boost blue FL5. Oops. Paid something like 24-25k for the car originally (si). Traded it in for 21.5k with 37k miles on it. Dealer sold it for 28k.. I kind of miss it. I was planning on adding flex fuel and a ctr retrofit clutch and maybe turbo. I have never driven a 'high reving' honda so I don't really have anything to compare it to but I'll take having torque over high reving coming from someone who's driven a 100hp shit box for waaay too long. lol
I like this video breakdown of the 10th gen Si . I get similar questions asked for my wrx. People y not get an Sti when an Sti is 10k or more than I paid for my Wrx
I own one and would love it if it came with a detuned version of the 2.0t around 250hp (closer to competitors) same transmission as the type r and could live with needing to install big brake kit. That would have been a solid ass car. Way more reliable and way more potential. I hate the drivetrain. That’s why I want to get rid of it.
FBO Flex Fuel Tuned, stock clutch, stock internals, stock head studs , NO ISSUES AT ALL!! I love my 2020 Civic Si. Idk why there’s so much hate, the Si used to be the top dog in the states and now everyone forgets about them like cmon now.
Plus that L15 motor isn’t that tunable because the internals are weak the bore and stoke isn’t good and rod bolts are tiny compared to a K series or D series.
gettin me heated talking about the old si prices i walked out on a dealer who had me at 35k for a 22 si, i said if im gonna buy a 35k car im gonna buy a 35k car and got an elantra n for msrp next door, i still want the si but ill probably hold off for awhile till prices stabilize.
@@TdaKid i really dont understand, i hated those salesman so much i almost hated the car for it. I like the elantra i just got the auto and still want a stick, even if it is a ton slower lol.
I had nothing but issues with my SI. Clutch failed a couple thousand miles after getting it, fuel dilution issues, and a head gasket failure. That was all within a 3 month period and the dealer wouldn’t do anything for me. I sold it shortly after and got a 2.0t accord. It’s much better not handling wise but performance wise. Not hating on the SI but the L15 is the worst engine Honda has ever made. I feel they should’ve stuck with an N/A k series with vtec.
The s2000 gets praised only has 240hp but the 10th gen si has 205 way more torque and is turbo they both weigh the same and the 35 hp difference is no a big deal when you make more torque and engineered the way the 10thgen is is a phenomenal car. I don't get why the s2000s is loved it's very overrated the 10th gen is basically a newer better s2000 despite the power train layout I think it's the 9000rpm and pt layout is why the s2000 is held on a pedestal. It's not like the si can't be modified to make more power if you want it. You can easily achieve 300 out the tenth gen anything over is just overkill these cars aren't made to be straight line monsters but canyon monsters. Fk8 type r's are overhyped too there's no reason you need 500hp in it, it's a canyon car....you don't need 400+ in these to have fun...
I own a FC3 and I will be selling it very shortly the power/money ratio on this platform is real bad. Its one thing I wish I did more research on whenever I first bought this car.
Post covid prices were INSANE when I 1st started looking for my '20 they were around 30k!!! After a year+ looking I finally found one with 6k for 27k. Freaking thing should've been 22-23k but they were getting traded in and leaving the lots at those prices the same day. I still can't believe I paid over msrp on a 4 year old car but it's what I wanted for so long lol
As a vb wrx if you’re interested in a new car And are on the fence on the 10th or 11th gen I recommend the vb wrx since in my experience dealers are charging crazy for the 10th and 11th but I’ve found multiple dealers selling the wrx at or below msrp and the wrx makes better power at fbo with awd
A lot of dealerships “took off” the mark up because Subaru actually stepped in and told them they were not going to send them more cars. Eventually some dealerships let off and prices were normal.
I think it comes down to one thing and one thing only. Nobody LOVES the L15. ppl like it. some ppl defend it. but nobody loves it like they do the K or B series.
Hello Tony. New to your channel. I wanted to get your opinion on a few things. Within the next two to three years I'm looking to get a Si or Integra A Spec manual. I want to add a few things but I don't want to get too crazy. At most, I'd want it to be around 250-270HP with 300lbs/ft of torque. I plan on keeping the car for many many years to come. I'm a family man and most of my driving comes from dropping off and picking up my daughters from school, driving to get groceries, and going to and from work. If I were to get upgrades to the car how much gas mileage will I lose? Like say I got it to my target which is the 250-270HP with 300lbs/ft of torque. Will I be looking at the car going from 28mpg city to like 21mpg city and from 37 mpg highway to like 31 mpg? Thanks in advance.
I do plan on just doing intake and tune I already have a greddy exhaust I am at 64k and I make sure it warms up in the morning I add injector cleaner im constantly keeping up with the oil changes and fluid flushes if I do end up doing catted downpipe. I am on a stock clutch and haven’t felt any slipping how long do you think I have till my car starts getting problems?
Darn inflation, causing car manufacturers and stealerships to jack up prices to maintain/increase profit margins and risen interest rates to keep it hella expensive.
I've been looking into a 4 door 10 gen. I think it's the perfect practical car out there and you can take to the track on weekends. I have a rebuilt oem+ k20 for my ep3 with 6 spd LSD and although you can't beat k series vtec im getting older and want something more subtle with practically. Also I can't believe how much used 10 gen are going for at dealers. Over msrp used!?!
just bought a 2018 ex-t with 37,400 miles on it about 6 months ago at a chevy dealership. 2 owner , the first one a lease. light front damage in an accident. looks and drives like new. put 7 thousand miles on it, love it. had to pay 23 thousand out the door. so far so good, beautiful car.
I’m 39, had 3 DSMs. My Si reminds me so much of my gst it’s love. Question I have intake, full 3 inch exhaust, cat less down pipe, PRL intercooler. Tsp stage 1 Is the flex fuel kit better or upgrade turbo?
I have owned every gen of Si xpt the em1.. even the older ef, crx si, 94 si etc... I bought the 10th gen when it came out, and even with a flashpro tune, it was still boring. Sure it made quite a bit more power (torque mainly) it just wasnt that fun to drive. It wasnt visceral like the older models at all. IMO the best Si gen was the 8th gen, and thats prob my fav honda ive ever owned. I also owned a FK8 briefly for about 8 months, but sold it to go back to school. I currently have a 9th gen si, and to me, as ive gotten older, its the best all around SI, still has the old school honda vibe, a k24, great interior and great color choices. You can just look at the prices of the 9th gen si compared to the 10th gen and youll see that they are about the same price. that tells you something in and of itself. the L15 sucks, its a boring motor plain and simple. Id rather have an NA with Vtec that is fun to ring its neck, than 40mpg and way too much torque for a fwd car...
I had the 10 gen sedan yea I was upset too about the vtec too and I told myself and my brother when I had the 10 gen if they 11 gen and so on have vtec and turbo I'll be mad. Sure enough going on 2 years of owning the car they total lost it in a accident now I own the 11 gen and the overall the performance on the 11 is way better.
Good vid bro! I know you’re in the process of upgrading your turbo. Have you decide which turbo you’re going for? I’m also in the same situation but having a hard time deciding lol
@@TdaKid Thats crazy I was literally thinking about the same exact one. I saw a couple Dyno videos and they perform really well, quick spool and good power.
@@Dimelowcrew I haven’t seen any of them “failing” and they have a year warranty like the competition so we’ll see They also put out good number for the price
@@TdaKidYea bro! I wanna get it tuned on E30 just to have it there, but might just run the car on 93oct just for safety reasons. I know they can make 300+whp on 93oct, so that should be enough. I’ll just keep the E30 tune there just to have fun with the boys here and there lol
They dont have Vtec on both cams. They only have it on one cam. They dont have true vtec. Thats one thing I dont like about them but other then that I would say the motors are still good motors. Just in my personal opinion they dont perform as well as a boosted dual vtec with Traditional vtec such as a turboed k24a2 or a turboed b18c. I owned a 9th gen accord with bolt ons and was fun to rip around and cracked vtec hard it was the K24W earth dreams motor and I had plans to throw a type r or si turbo on it but sadly it was totaled. Thank you for the video.
The l15 is a good engine if you think about it it really makes a lot of power for its size🤷🏼♂️ and it’s capable of more power then 200🤷🏼♂️ I just picked up an 11th gen and I love everything about it coming from 9th gen accord coupe with the v6
Oh how I’ve been waiting for this video lol. Let’s just start with the fact that the Si was built with the economy in mind. So many people want to fight the feeling like Too Short, but I won’t front. You put a little bit of power to its gut and it’s gonna leave you on the side of the road period. There are so many of those cars that got traded back in because of the issues, and guess what. They traded for ? A CTR. Honda advertised the Si like it was something that could stand up to its predecessor and or the CTR, and that wasn’t the case. The Si of today definitely demonstrated in so many ways like the Maury show (That was a lie!) The L15 although it had a few subtle hints of racing heritage, including LSD and beer can internals was still trash. Forget the head lifting on power. Id be more concerned of the rod that looks like a skinny crack phene snapping. The car car itself minus the engine was amazing. But the entire car just screams I beg to be driven by a 50-60 yr old trying to relive their glory days, and a person who will never add an aftermarket part to me. Unfortunately the Si seems to have been a guinea pig of sorts for Hondas new future line up as they sort out how to go from fossil fuels, to electric. They never intended for the Si to ever match the quality of the CTR and that has been proven since its launch. The fact that everyone thinks that Honda still had it’s customers opinions and views in mind, was obviously dropped on their head. Honda has lost their way, and forgotten about their roots. And guess what! The more people keep praising the piles of crap they are building, the more they will continue to build until the legacy is gone forever.
Honestly cost. I think these cars value is really expensive for what you get even in the used market, like for example you can find a used MK7 GTI in good condition and more power for less
Yo escogí el hatchback porque al ser baterista, si en algún momento necesitaba cargarla pues me era más fácil. Adicional que se párese mucho al Type R lo cual es llamativo.
People hate it or don't like it because of the Engine, the d15 turbo is not reliable once modded and they are weak.. Plus has the same engine as a base civic.. so the Si did not feel special like before.
I have a fk7, i have seen people that test the fk8 with the 11th gen type r and realize that the 11gen type r is slower than the fk8. So i think the 10thgen is faster and stronger than the 11thgen. The 11thgen si has less horsepower than the 10thgen
No it doesnt… the 11th gen SI is dynoing at 220-230 whp. Putting it about 250-260 to the crank. Hondata tested it at about 200 Whp and 230 crank. The 10th gen dyno at 180 stock
Bought my Base Hatch 17 In 2021 Now its 250 hp Tune , big ass intercooler , airfilterkit No problem But I got tge cvt The gearbox sounds a little bit of now but lets see how it goes 😂 😊
Civics have a bad reputation in general. There is one major problem i see with the 10th gen's which is that they have a terrible interface. But the hate really is unwarranted. Overall, the 10th gen's are good vehicles and they are the best car i've seen style wise in the past decade. In fact i haven't seen a car with this kind of style since 2010. They also are good for long term reliability and durability.
I think missed the mark with the Si. If trype R was 310hp this car should be sitting right at 265-275. 201 is too far from thpe r and too close to the other line up.
I think they are not up to date on the market right now they are underpower and not that mutch of a sports car they should have i little more hp and maybe better handling just look at the velosterN/elentran/konan and gti i mean the si cant keep up on track the average car is faster than a si now i think thats killing the si and btw im a huge honda fan had a 9th gen si and a acura tsx 2 great car but they cant compete with the new market
True Honda could’ve gone with more power to keep up with the competition but then I feel like they would’ve raised the price to the Si overall. Definitely feel like it should’ve came with the 2.0 like the accord just maybe detuned a little less. 230hp out of a stock 2.0 turbo would’ve sound more realistic for an Si standpoint. But to keep the sales from the R they had to find a midpoint
@@TdaKid i understand that they want to keep a gap between type r and si(for sales) i would have love to buy a new si but after trying a veloster N i mean stock for stock theres no comparasion for me civic maybe more confortable and better interior but i wanted a fun to drive car and hyunday killed it and they are the same price si and veloster n or elentra its the same price.... people saying should look at interest honda where i am is at 5.99 and hyundai was a 2.99%
What up Tony! So here’s my take on it. When the si 10gen came out, many of the people in the car community that got the car were kind of douche bag personality. Even when I got mine I was like man people are gonna think I’m a douche bag. Plus people didn’t like the body styling, myself included back then, I wasn’t a fan. Reliability of the car is based on the owner use and abuse. For the first year that I owned my si it was not modded. The entire time I never had an issue. Once I started modding and beating like a whore that owes me money the reliability went out the window like a napkin at 120mph windows down.
I get what you mean because when they first came out, a lot of times at local car meets, they would act like they were the better car. Ego was high because the the turbo from what I saw lol
Don’t forget to leave a LIKE! It really does help with the algorithm 😊
Also, reading everyone’s comments from both sides is pretty interesting lol
Take it from someone who's owned a ITR & S2K. I purchased a 2017 SI Couple New and drove it hard stock on mountain roads from 2017 until 2021. I traded it in for a New CTR. The SI couple was a blast to drive. The value was crazy! I even got mine a thousand under Msrp. No other car in the market during that time could touch the features and benefits for that price point. I paid 23k for mine and got 19K when I traded it back. Had zero issues with the SI. It's a amazing car.
I just got a 17 si with 60k miles for my first manual car. It’s so much fun to drive. I get great gas mileage, and I’m still faster than most traffic.
@BeastFromTheEast79 if you wanna keep your warranty don't modify your car simple
No it’s not.
i went from a 8thgen si to 10th gen si. best purchase for me. good on power and gas, amazing on aftermarket support
For real. I get 30MPG on city commute
Jhaaa i did it backward
@njalsten6766 I bought an 8th gen with 23k miles for 10k Canadian dollars in 2020. I own an r33 now and still regret selling the fg2
I did it backwards to jeejeje 😂 8th gen last VTEC samurai
I did too but blew the motor on the 10th gen and trade it in for a truck and got me a 8th gen again
350 hp and we dancing with death, 350 with a K series, we barely scratching the surface
My previous car was an Acura RSX Type-S. I was hooked the first time I test drove a 10th gen Si coupe. I now have one and love it every day.
Hi! Would you mind telling me how you felt between the two cars?? I'm actually considering between the two now!
RSX is a great car, still own my 2002.
Just picked up a 2013 Si and absolutely love it.
RSX gives more of a luxury/ softer ride and feels refined, civic Si is more sport feel IMHO.
The si also has different cams and turbo than the hatch, you really get a lot more for your money on an si than hatch and I think it looks better too
11thgens are amazing.
Also the 10th gen is just a sexy car in my opinion 😂
Good video bro, sure do miss your content! Have a good one Tony 😎
I got the same one. On long +2hr trips, i can get 45mpg with a passenger. Had no idea how good it was at gas.
If you don't mind me asking, with those three mods you mentioned, what is your max hp?
@@morningstarxs7848 I’m pushing 235 hp. I just have the basic ktuner mod. No pherable tune but the car still gets up and goes.
@@IPhenton aww nice, I’m planning on getting this car. Hence why i wanted to know . The only thing I don’t really want to do is an exhaust because if it’s to loud I run the risk of getting pulled over . ( I live in California) anyway thanks for the info😊
@@morningstarxs7848 dude same here, I live in so cal lol. These cars are extremely fun so I hope when you get one, you’ll have the time of your life 😎
I’m newer to the Honda scene.
I say 🧢 to the reliability critique.
agreed, i just hit 51k and I run it somewhat hard sometimes but not always since it is my daily but clutch has been holding up with the tune and full exhaust I still get 27mpgs just commuting between work home and school I couldn't love it more
Definitely a driver issue then because I haven’t had major issues *knocks on wood*
100% I’ve had my 2018 since 2022 about to hit 100k and haven’t had to get a new clutch
I think people are failing to realize that anybody trying to get their civic to 3xxhp has money to either buy a ctr or something else. The average person is not trying to put that money into the car and still needs fuel efficiency
Also this car is on rails and handles waaaay better than any other si
the 8th gen is a much much better platform. you havent tracked either obviously. the EM1 is also better handling than the 10th gen..
@@juanticimo nah i haven’t tracked, but what makes you say that the others are better handling wise

My 17 Si just hit 130k miles. Super reliable! Other than my injectors going out at 100k and now my clutch starting to go I think it’s pretty damn reliable! I love this thing!!
How much to repair them?
My problem with the platform is the engine.
Isn’t an engine meant for performance like the old K series.
I definitely agree but I don't regret buying it at all reliability has been great so far I haven't had any problems, I'm FBO besides the TIP I have a tsp stage one tune and the car runs amazing. my next goal is replace the clutch and head studs soon so I can put the 27won w1 turbo on and leave it at that
Do head studs asap, I waited to long and now I have a lifted head 😢
Just got done paying off my 10th Gen Si at 55K miles. Bone stock, regular maintenance, and no issues whatsoever! I might plan on adding a 27 Won intake in the future along with a new exhaust system.
Lmao same here! Finally!
I’m ngl bro I started in a Type R which I still own but I also bought a 10Th gen Si for the simple fact it got features I love about the car , the sun roof , the side view camera it’s just a nice car to have fun and drive everyday , no issues at all yet , prolly
Had more recalls with my fuel pump on my FK8 then my Si lol. Growing
Up I always wanted a WRX but once I drove the Type R I just couldn’t go with the Sti , I’ll keep my Si till it calls it last day & my type R as well 🤙🏽
I enjoy watching your videos because you know your stuff.
I love my 2020 SI coupe. It's a nice sporty daily driver that looks great.
I have a 9thgen Si but I love the 10th gen coupes . Really nice 👍🏼
@@fireemblemaddict128 it’s crazy to me how bad the platform is to be honest. It aggravates me so bad that it shit the bed twice within 4,000 miles.
Almost traded my 9th in for a 10th sedan...but decided not too because i figured boosting the 9th gen would be much more better than getting the 10th
Plus for some reason you finance the turbo kit, it would still be cheaper than a car payment in the long run!
recent 10th gen owner here. the only think I hate about it is the markup price I had to pay for a decent low mileage one... otherwise at stock, it's a very enjoyable daily drive car
I salute you and your car. RIP
Damn dude i bet that's a beast!
The 10thgen handles better than any other year Si made 👍🏻
2017 Car and Driver
We pulled 0.97 g on the skidpad with the eyeball burner on these pages (Honda calls the color Energy Green), tying the likes of the BMW M3 and the Jaguar F-type.
The braking too. Stops 60-0 in 106ft.
@@frostking4036 yup. Thats why I said they pretty much have the same engine.
I got a 23 si and i love it but i also have a 9th gen too so best pf both worlds
Accord 2.0T ftw 💪🏽
I don't own an Si but I have a 2019 Touring Coupe and the one issue it's had is with the air conditioner condenser which Honda replaced under warranty, other than that the car has been great.
My 2020 si has been rock solid.. only problem is my valve cover has a leak at 40k miles
Didnt like the 10 gen Si but when I found out it was the last gen coupe, I snagged a 2020 and love it.
There is no such thing as a bad civic. it doesn't matter the trim. All si were excellent because they are not race cars.
I have never driven a 'high reving' honda so I don't really have anything to compare it to but I'll take having torque over high reving coming from someone who's driven a 100hp shit box for waaay too long. lol
They mad when they get beat by one 😂
I like this video breakdown of the 10th gen Si . I get similar questions asked for my wrx. People y not get an Sti when an Sti is 10k or more than I paid for my Wrx
I own one and would love it if it came with a detuned version of the 2.0t around 250hp (closer to competitors) same transmission as the type r and could live with needing to install big brake kit. That would have been a solid ass car. Way more reliable and way more potential. I hate the drivetrain. That’s why I want to get rid of it.
The hate seemed like it came out of nowhere when the 11th gen came out.
*❌✅ I’m still stock headed to 90k miles NO PROBLEMS and Roll stock GT’s All day 😎👍❌*
Four years of spirited driving and not a single issue on my old 10thgen! Just regular maint like oil changes
Note. for the 11th gens. if you want an SI that's a hatchback. that's an Integra 2023. its what I have. it's so good.
I have one but it's a fun car wish it had a little more power stock but overall it's a good car
gettin me heated talking about the old si prices i walked out on a dealer who had me at 35k for a 22 si, i said if im gonna buy a 35k car im gonna buy a 35k car and got an elantra n for msrp next door, i still want the si but ill probably hold off for awhile till prices stabilize.

Definitely can’t go wrong with Honda, especially si/type r models

I've been looking into a 4 door 10 gen. I think it's the perfect practical car out there and you can take to the track on weekends. I’m 39, had 3 DSMs. My Si reminds me so much of my gst it’s love. Question I have intake, full 3 inch exhaust, cat less down pipe, PRL intercooler. Tsp stage 1 Is the flex fuel kit better or upgrade turbo?
Upgraded turbo clutch and do the head stud
What are your iat and iat2 temps normally stay at ,also is iat post intercooler and iat2 pre as in intake?

They dont have Vtec on both cams. They only have it on one cam. They dont have true vtec. Thats one thing I dont like about them but other then that I would say the motors are still good motors. Just in my personal opinion they dont perform as well as a boosted dual vtec with Traditional vtec such as a turboed k24a2 or a turboed b18c. I owned a 9th gen accord with bolt ons and was fun to rip around and cracked vtec hard it was the K24W earth dreams motor and I had plans to throw a type r or si turbo on it but sadly it was totaled. Thank you for the video.
Honda should’ve just made a new k20 engine with a fucking turbo and called it a day mfs would drop money for that any day
The focus st can handle 400 torque stock. Doesn't sound like the si can hit that without building everything.
Hey do you think any car problems will cone from just changing the exhaust? Like straight pipe 3inch exhaust
The l15 is a good engine if you think about it it really makes a lot of power for its size🤷🏼♂️ and it’s capable of more power then 200🤷🏼♂️ I just picked up an 11th gen and I love everything about it coming from 9th gen accord coupe with the v6
Weak engine, even weaker then old honda D series engines..
27K for a Civic no thanks I'll spend that on a used Lexus IS350. Great video btw.
Good video,very informative.
@@powerstroketurbo95 well I saw that 10thgen si stock is 205hp, 11thgen si 200hp stock. Now the 10thgen hatchback yes it's 180hp stock
Bought my Base Hatch 17
In 2021
Now its 250 hp
Tune , big ass intercooler , airfilterkit
No problem
But I got tge cvt
The gearbox sounds a little bit of now but lets see how it goes 😂 😊
Civics have a bad reputation in general. There is one major problem i see with the 10th gen's which is that they have a terrible interface. But the hate really is unwarranted. Overall,
the 10th gen's are good vehicles and they are the best car i've seen style wise in the past decade. In fact i haven't seen a car with this kind of style since 2010. They also are good for long term reliability and durability.
From what I've seen in the Honda community is that they don't respect these generations until they get gapped.
That platform will be much better once a swap from a 2.0t Accord becomes financially possible
The good thing about the L-series engines is that they will accept 87 octane.
I think missed the mark with the Si. If trype R was 310hp this car should be sitting right at 265-275. 201 is too far from thpe r and too close to the other line up.
Actually, I have an 11th gen so it just feels like we don't exist
I think they are not up to date on the market right now they are underpower and not that mutch of a sports car they should have i little more hp and maybe better handling just look at the velosterN/elentran/konan and gti i mean the si cant keep up on track the average car is faster than a si now i think thats killing the si and btw im a huge honda fan had a 9th gen si and a acura tsx 2 great car but they cant compete with the new market
True
Honda could’ve gone with more power to keep up with the competition but then I feel like they would’ve raised the price to the Si overall.
You make it sound like you hate your car too lol 😆
Bro I've got an ep3 si, tell me about hated😂
