I worked for 10 years as a cashier (not full time), from age 17, but also moved a lot of pallets, stacked beer, filled shelves, etc. I ended up with lower back problems, RSI on my hands, & I don't like being around people anymore. But standing is safer for your back. You probably just need better shoes. To make it worse, the field I was studying for, all the jobs got outsourced to India/Phils. Even my dad who was CCNA, MCSE, everything-else certified + Electronic Engineering degree couldn't find a satisfactory job. The companies prefer to hire immigrants who will accept less pay for jobs that can't be outsourced.
Standing promotes better blood flow so anything tight like pants around the waist and legs, and shoes that squeeze your feet, will lead to pain. It's all about posture and good fitting clothes.

I am now just waiting for the time to come to have my spine fused! I’m glad to see that you recognize that you sit too much and are doing something about it!!

I have found that I love high chairs and/or chairs with no backs because it usually (but not always; it depends how lazy I am) allows me to have better back posture instead of relying on the back of the chair and also that my feet don't get crunched if the chair is too low.

yea so when you stand up straight, blood circulation is good and this can make you think clearly when you do some business on your computer. i need this stand-up desk.

I have an Ikea adjustable desk which is similar to a standing desk which works great for me because I am in a wheelchair and the adjustable desk allows me to lift it up and pull under then put it to the height I need it at!
After Justine got a standing desk I want to try one so my monitor already could go up really high so I put it up and used the box it came in to put my keyboard and mouse higher and now I use it when I’m in final cut and sit when gaming

Standing desks are great for posture and concentration. It’s definitely worth it! I’ve never used one personally, but my mom likes hers.
