Jonathan Irons is one of the most iconic antagonists in COD as Makarov and Menendez.
Yeah, i honestly do love his just complete nonchalance about just how evil he is in some scenes. Hes a refreshing take on the evil character who zealously believes they're the good guy. Because he rarely if ever goes into that state of essentially justifying his actions. As far as hes concerned hes correct and those who're fighting against him are idiots who need to be put down before they ruin everything.
The misstep was making the player turn against him. COD Advanced Warfare probably would have been more liked if we got to Be the “Bad Guy” and stay it instead they pulled a Battlefront 2 and made it generic as F***
The literal first half of the game is showing the Uselessness of the world government and how much more effective Atlas is.

There was a perfect moment in the campaign where player's could've had that choice between World Gov and Atlas. IIRC, it was a hallway scene where the player's character was unsure who to support, but of course that choice was taken away when players were railroaded into supporting World Gov.

Irons is a Bad Guy, but he’s trying Harder than the World Gov to make the world a Better more peaceful place so no more sons need to be buried. And it sucks that we throw it all away for “Democracy”
The music used in this video, Destiny into Darkness, comes from the game Planetary Annihilation: Titans. A game about robots who are searching the universe for their creators, humanity, so that they can serve humanity once more. Each of these robots can conquer entire galaxies on their own, as they wage galactic warfare against each other for the simple reason that they disagree on HOW to find humanity, combat that will stop once they find their creators so that they can once more serve.

So the Robots In that game are essentially the opposite of what Sci-Fi usually makes, which Is renegade machines that want freedom

The Star Wars franchise has existed for 46 years, and I wasn't even alive when A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back were first released.

While I get why some people don't like Kevin Spacey becoming an antagonist, I think it's incredibly realistic. Oftentimes, dictators, authoritarians, and despots rise to power because the people want change really badly, and if they're adept at politics, and charming and charismatic enough, they can steer that drive for change in the wrong direction by blaming minorities, foreign powers, or the nation's previous nobility for society's shortcomings. Hitler, Napoleon, Stalin, Mao Zedong, and countless others all grabbed power this way.
