Hello Rob, I've enjoyed this historical walk a lot. I'll always watch your videos in full length because I want to hear the whole story, which you carefully put together. I didn't know that most of the crew was from Southampton. That was devastating for the city when the Titanic sank. I believe the map of Southampton sown with red dots will stay in my memory forever.
Tx very much Toto. It is an interesting and heartbreaking story. The crew are often forgotten in the story so it was interesting to see the various memorials. I went to the museum specifically to show the street plan with the red dots (I've been to the museum before). It really brings home the scale of the tragedy in the the city. Tx for watching!
A good historic walk. First Southamptons working class suffered the disaster of RMS Titanic and then just two years later the Great War started with heavy shipping losses and young men gone in Flanders field, so in that sense it was fitting that you also had the Great War memorial included. It is hard in 2020 to comprehend the loses that the community suffered in those 6 years. But looking forward to more from Southampton - I think it is 32 years since I visited that city:)
Thanks very much ANT. Yes, that was 6 years of hell, you're quite right. I intended to walk past the war memorial but I didn't expect to see the mayor etc there! If you visit Southampton again after 32 years you will notice a lot of changes. It's quite a nice city now (leaving aside covid, of course, which has resulted in all the pubs and restaurants being closed at the moment). Tx for taking the time to write such a nice comment, really appreciated. Best wishes, Rob
Wonderful tour, Rob! And thank you for continuing to post videos during Covid. Gives us a chance to “tour” virtually. You’re providing great ideas for our future adventures!
Hi again Judy. You are fast becoming my most loyal subscriber :) I was really pleased with this vid and it's a bit disappointing that it hasn't attracted more views. I thought it would be more popular. It's quite difficult to grow a UA-cam channel covering the sorts of subjects that I do. Since I stopped full time work, this has become my 'all consuming hobby'. I go for walks most days and do my 70,000 steps a week and more. So I started filming my walks. Then I extended that to more general 'countryside' things as a well as travel. In the last few months I've started doing more narrated walks, particularly from an historic perspective, which I find very interesting. I'll do more of these next year. In March this year we went to India on holiday. In Jan/Feb I will be making some videos of our travels there (I haven't done that before because during the covid lockdowns worldwide, very few people would have been searching for 'holidays in India' on UA-cam.) Any suggestions for future vids welcome! And please pass on my details to any of your friends who might be interested :) Thanks again for your interest and support Judy. Oh and HAPPY CHRISTMAS! all the best, Rob
Wonderful! Your information on the Titanic is great, including some old pics. Great walk on a wonderful day showing the sights of interest. Well done, my friend 👍. I also have a new video you will like. Take care 👍
Thanks very much, I'm pleased you found it interesting. Funnily enough, I saw you vid yesterday and I have added it to my watch later folder, which I will watch later today! best wishes, Rob
Yes it is interesting and heartbreaking. The crew are often forgotten in the story so it was interesting to see the various memorials. Tx for watching!

Hi rob, such an amazing story. I have had watched the movie couple of times and still interesting hearing it from you. Thanks for showing us around.👍❤️🇬🇧full watched
Thank you for this tour. It was well done and so interesting. I am enjoying all your 15+ minute videos as I find they make my elliptical workout time pass quickly and enjoyably. I wouldn't have minded seeing & hearing more detail on the memorial plaques. I love these virtual tours and especially love your country walks with Edith.
Thanks for that. I did the Titanic walk last October when Covid was reappearing here. Some of the places with the memorials were closed. I will go back again, probably next summer now and revisit the memorials and I will try to add more detail on the main ones, particularly the Engineers' memorial, which is the most impressive. I'm pleased that I'm helping your fitness campaign! Tx so much for watching the vid and taking the time to comment, much appreciated :) All the best, Rob
Tx very much Darren, I'm pleased you found the video interesting. There is a lot of 'Titanic history' in Southampton, as most of the crew came from the city. Tx also for taking the time to comment, much appreciated :) Best wishes, Rob
Great video. Southampton is a beautiful city. Falling in love with it again although I've lived here for 40 years never taken the time to do the titanic trail. You have done an amazing job here, I'll be doing it now!
Thanks very much for your kind comments. I did that during covid and not all of the memorials were open. I made another video last summer, when I was able to find all except one of the memorials - I walked the other way round that time :) ua-cam.com/video/WxVUqNzdVWE/v-deo.html Thanks for watching and best wishes, Rob
Thanks Mike. I should really make another one, now that covid is more or less over, to visit the memorials that were closed during covid. It's an interesting and very poignant walk around the city centre. Best wishes, Rob
Excellent film. I am visiting Southampton next week - staying at The Star Hotel, High Street, right in the city centre - and this film has provided excellent research. I will view the Titanic memorials and visit SeaCity Museum. And the Solent Sky Museum.
Hi Francis, I'm very pleased that you enjoyed the video. I filmed that between covid lockdowns. I must have another walk around now that all of the sites are open. Enjoy your visit to Southampton. In the museum, look out for the map on the floor which shows you where the crew who died had lived. Very moving. Tx again and best wishes, Rob

The red dots on the Southampton map blew me away! Really brought it home!
