I had a client message me that eBay showed his card was delivered but he had not received it. I asked him to wait a couple more days and he later messaged me back that it had arrived.
I had an issue where someone bought a card, average priced, received card, said card was damaged and wanted a refund. The card I sent was in perfect condition, the card they sent back was creased real bad. After looking over the card I noticed it wasn't the same card I sent, centering on my card was close to 50/50, I use a centering card to check, the card that was sent back was closer to a 70/30 centering. Gotta watch for the scammers, they have a card that's damaged, purchase the same one that's in mint/near mint condition, say item not as described, get refunded, send bad card back to seller, keep the good card for free....I was able to fight the case and was able to keep the money. Good reason to hold on to original photo's, take extra photo's, and try to document as much as possible in case this happens. It's possible eBay was just sick of me arguing and fighting with them over the issue and just paid me off to shut up about it lol.

Couldn't see a video on it but maybe I missed it, but what store level did you choose and how is that working put for you. right now I don't have a store and looking at the cost per month it doesn't seem to make much sense for me at this time bit when I ramp up more I'm sure it will!!
Just got into selling raw cards with the standard envelope mostly low end cards. 25 cards sold so far and hoping to keep that ramping up as more get listed. Love how little room they take up vs the majority of my other inventory. It’s a great excuse to rip a few boxes too - sell off the low end cards to get back to break even or close to it and grade the best card or two from the lot. Having a lot of fun learning, never dabbled much into sports cards before. Thanks for your videos!
For sure, I have pondering making a video on this topic recently, as I used to be anti-ripping and say how bad of investment it was. But now selling this way I have totally changed my thinking on it.
I have had PWE not show as delivered on a few occasions but it was. One time a buyer made a case for refund but the card showed delivered. They never received it but it was delivered and they tried to get a refund. Do not be hasty and pay them. They need to contact their USPS and get information from them. EBay handled it from there and denied their claim.
I do it sometimes when a card has a few watchers, sometimes only ends up fetching 0.99 (I always add $1.25 shipping on single card auctions so I get the full min of .99 for the card), sometimes it go higher.
Its a 3rd party insurance company that handles the cases, was told be someone in comments that it has been changed to 15 days but havent confirmed that yet.
If i can get a positive feedback from a customer on ebay then it makes selling a $1 card worth it all day long for me. It Helps me become a reputable seller.
Quick question - regarding Ebay envelope options and buyer selected. I learned a pricey lesson that buyers can select another option and leave you footing the difference not figured into the shipping cost I posted. I didnt' select Ebay Envelop standard as the shipping option and offered an attractive shipping price - twice the buyer opted for a USPS F/C shipping and I could not change it - now I make sure I change the option to Ebay Envelope standards. In hindsight what could I have done to avoid footing the bill or eating up any profit and actually paying to ship? I obliged the first 2 sales so that I would never forget - i also added buyer will pay cost of any other shipping because that sucked.
Yep gotta setup the shipping policy correctly. I do have it as an option on one of my policies to select First Class but it switches the price to 4.50. But good point if you set it up wrong i could come back to bite you.
On my listings I offer both the PWE and First Class options. The key is to make sure you select the PWE option first, then go back and select First Class second. Ebay will show the lower cost option (PWE) on your listing which should attract more buyers, but they also have the option to pay FC which I'll ship in a bubble mailer. I also disclose in my description that cards will ship via eBay Standard Envelope but the buyer can pay for FC if they want better protection and tracking. Good luck!

I mostly will contact the buyer and say can you wait a couple of more days it will either come back to me or you will receive the card because the tracking is not accurate Unfortunately I just block bad address/ buyers after I refund them and get feedback it happens it's not there fault I had a couple or repeat buyers not getting there cards constantly I had about 250 blocked and after months no more returns I guess blocking bad actors and bad addresses even tho some are legitimate claims helped me not dealing with returns but most of the community is honest and the buyers say I will wait a couple of days before the refund is issued good luck all this just my opinion
Ebay should know the expected delivery date and shouldn't allow the buyer to open a request too quickly. Easy fix ebay, figure out the loopholes in your processes.
Also Jmac. I switched to the $59 store think I would get more listings which wasn't the case. I still had to call them and ask for more listings. But I did switch from a personal account on ebay to a business account on ebay and I got 100,000 listings with up to $1,000,000 right after I switched it to a business account with ebay. Hope this help you and your views.

Have you ever had a PWE auction that exceeded the $20 value? If so, that'd make another great video on what happened in this situation (i.e. Did you still ship the card in a PWE or did you pivot to First Class? Bubble mailer? Was the buyer charged the higher shipping cost or did this land on your plate? etc).
Gotta bump it up to first class, eBay won't even let you use PWE its grayed out since its over $20. It all balances out in the end. I do charge $1.25 on all auctions in case a card only sells for 0.99 that way you can ship it and still make around $.50. If you run it at 0.99 and free shipping and have to ship you're gonna lose money. So the 1.25 offsets the $4 shipping some if its over $20 ;)

@@saucebaseball4364 Instead of blaming buyers or the mailman, you should learn how the post office and ESE operate. I send 8 to 10 ESE a day and I haven't had to file 3 claims in the past year. If you had to do 3 in a week, you're doing something wrong.
I don’t see a cost for the item you sell. My spreadsheet has the following info: date of sale, item description, my cost for the item, sold amount, shipping amount, actual shipping cost, eBay fees, net. So my formula is sold amount+shipping-my cost-actual shipping-eBay fees=net profit or loss.
Anytime a buyer opens a case without even messaging regarding the issue I’m always on high alert. I’ve never lost a claim dispute nor refunded when buyers take that route. Just screams scam
Not sure if you're able to add this into the worksheet, but curious how much you're into the cards since you buy collections to resell. That would determine what you're true profit is after the eBay fees. Just wondering if you thought about that or not?
No thanks I don’t track that. Not really that important to me either, especially when you buy a collection of 75,000 cards or multiple thousands of cards. Only thing that matters is the break even point then after that every subsequent arc is profit moving forward. Tracking individual card profits is pointless on huge collections

The expected delivery date can easily get abused so don't immediately issue the refund. The issue is sad actually...these "labels" do not scan at any USPS locations. I took a mini-tour at my local hub and learned a ton. From the many different "issues" I experienced when starting out a few years ago, I've had to become a bit of an expert on all scenarios for these shipping labels haha. I had someone try to scam me yesterday the day after the expected delivery date passed (order placed on Memorial Day) but there are things you can do to protect yourself to ensure you do not have to refund the buyer if you have done your research and suspect the buyer is taking advantage of the ebay money back guarantee. I appreciate your videos!
Good stuff JMac. One stat I also track is selling cost per item (selling costs for the month / # of items sold). That might help you with the answer to why selling costs are up based on the mix. You've really blown up on # items sold, so $1183 cost over 730 items in April is really pretty good for sports cards ($1.82/ea). Compare that to your Jan cost per item ($971/408 items = $2.38/ea) and it looks like you're heading in the right direction in April. Good luck out there, I'll be back in your store soon I'm sure....
THANKS FOR ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO. April was my 2nd month of selling sports cards and I made right at $800 in March I was at $378 for my first month so I doubled my sell in April. Now if I can get the bulk orders up I believe it would help. I'm doing the 25% off 7+ Like I saw on one of your earlier post...anyways thanks I'm learning a lot from you so please keep up the post.....Maybe do an Auction video showing a slab from start to end I think that would be pretty useful. I called eBay about a buyer who claimed the card was not delivered to his house when tracking said delivered. eBay submitted a claim on my behalf and had me send a message to the buyer as well and an investigation was formed. The buyer never submitted a claim. You are protected through this communication process if it happens to you.
I deal with this issue on a regular basis. If u don't issue the refund within a few days eBay will just do it anyway unless u physically call them. It's aggravating AF! Alot of times it's a newer buyer or someone foreign that just doesn't understand or have any sympathy for u. U have to worry about bad feedback. Sometimes for the couple bucks it just ain't worth it. Then you have your eBay scammers who buy these cheap cards and open cases on all of them. But I do love the program. For the most part it works out fine.
eBay will in-fact directly refund you for providing a refund. They do not punish sellers for refunding. I had the exact same scenario a few months ago. Guy opened a case. I refunded, filed a claim, and the claim got denied. I reached out to eBay, and they provided paid me.

Great video!!! Just started selling cards again on eBay and your videos are really helping. I’m about to retire and moving to Florida, so gonna start selling full time. I do a UA-cam channel as well, but mine is about vintage cards. Keep up the great job!
on the ebay standard envelope, if the buyer doesn't receive the card and you have to issue a refund, how do you get your money back? Ebay? usps?
I called eBay about a buyer who claimed the card was not delivered to his house when tracking said delivered. eBay submitted a claim on my behalf and had me send a message to the buyer as well and an investigation was formed. The buyer never submitted a claim. You are protected through this communication process if it happens to you.

I deal with this issue on a regular basis. If u don't issue the refund within a few days eBay will just do it anyway unless u physically call them. It's aggravating AF! Alot of times it's a newer buyer or someone foreign that just doesn't understand or have any sympathy for u. U have to worry about bad feedback. Sometimes for the couple bucks it just ain't worth it. Then you have your eBay scammers who buy these cheap cards and open cases on all of them. But I do love the program. For the most part it works out fine.

eBay will in-fact directly refund you for providing a refund. They do not punish sellers for refunding. I had the exact same scenario a few months ago. Guy opened a case. I refunded, filed a claim, and the claim got denied. I reached out to eBay, and they provided paid me.
Good to know I'll probably take that approach next time.
