Hall also does this thing where he purposely (and unnecessarily) uses a glottal fry when he starts a sentence with “I”. It feels kind of phony and calculated, in a “Don’t I just sound SO tortured?!” kind of way. There’s absolutely some good MUSIC here, but you gotta try to unhear some of Hall’s adolescent brooding to get to it.
I like some of Stabbing’s stuff but I always thought of them as NIN Light. And yeah sometimes the (often one-dimensional) lyrics came dangerously close to being flat-out corny...I found that to be the case with the majority of SW songs. But the music was mostly good enough to overcome the lyrical limitations. I see SW as a “complementary” band…they do their thing and their material is listenable enough, but I could never see them being anyone’s favorite band.
Someone tried to tell me that darkest days was the name of this band but i had already heard of this album wither blister burn and peel before darkest days i automatically called bullshit on that
The lyrics on some of the songs def put me off at first. It is a bit emo/cheesy but it makes up for it with being moody as all hell. The album as a whole is solid and prob my favorite production and vibe wise. There’s not a bad song on it and it’s diverse while still being cohesive. It’s funny, you guys kinda look like the singer and drummer. haha
cool stuff
