I’ve made my own yogurt, but I was amazed seeing how a dairy farm operates. Or more accurately how dairy cows perform. 79 and still amazed at what I learn.
Oh my word! Jersey cows are so pretty, and the calves are too freaking cute! Jersey and Scottish Highlanders are my favorite looking, but Jersey is by far my favorite for milk. This dairy has what I have always considered to be the best mix for commercial milk production quality and quantity. 😊
Another wonderful and informative video Wendy. I am a new follower and thoroughly enjoy your channel. I make my own granola, so now I will try making my own yogurt. 😊
This was very cool! thanks for sharing about this farm, i have been involved with agriculture all my life and am unaware of any dairy farms in Ontario that have a dispensing system like this. I originally passed over this video as I wasn't interested in making my own yogurt anymore but am glad that I decided to watch ALL your videos!
Great video. I always add a cup of powered milk to my yogurt. I use a 2 liter jug of organic milk from the store and add a cup of organic yogurt. The end result is a thick Greek style yogurt and so creamy.
I dont have the lovely dairy farm handy to get fresh milk as you do, but I do make yoghurt very simply in the instant-pot using Fairlife Ultrafiltered 3% milk. I understand because it is filtered, it doesn't need to be heated - just into the pot, hit the YOGHURT function button and select around 11 hrs. Next morning, voila!! I learned that too much starter can cause runnier yoghurt. I use 2 TBSL starter to 58 oz milk and it works perfectly. So good, so easy and very affordable.
@@wendyoutdoors2230 I'm envious of that beautiful dairy farm - I'll look into if there is something similar in southern AB. Thanks for your postings - so enjoyable and inspiring.
Oh my goodness, that little calf is so pretty!!! Can't wait to try my own yogurt. Thank you for sharing, new subscriber, found you through "Girl in the Woods!"
I hope you make another video like this with more information next time you make yogurt. How did you heat up your oven? What temperature do you keep it on? do you have to use cast iron? You didn't say. Your videos are so wonderful, thank you!
I’ve tried 3 lots of making yogurt so far but it hasn’t set-up! However it is like a yogurt sauce which I like on my porridge and have used in place of buttermilk for baking with nice moist results. I’ll try again. I’m also going to try making a Yop style drink which my grandchildren love. I’ll blend some berries with my yogurt sauce and see what they think!
@@wendyoutdoors2230 yes, I always eat plain yogurt. I didn’t know about the setting agent so will look for that. I live in a small town so it might be a bit of a trick to find. I think you also said to use milk that is not homogenized (?) but I can’t find that around here. We don’t have a dairy farm like your wonderful little one.
It seems a shame to throw the whey out. I live in Germany and “Molke” is sold for a good price. Not sure what it does for you, something about builds muscles.
You are such an inspiration!
Thanks so much Rosemary. I’m having fun doing this.
Wow I had no idea you were doing this ❤️ Cool!
Fun fact - Albert is on my soccer team :)
Agreed!!

absolutely Nancy- there is always something to learn if we keep open to it- thanks so much for watching this channel. much appreciated
I’m just into making yogurt myself. What a blessing to live so close to such a nice dairy farm! Thanks for sharing your method
You are so welcome!

It is a wonderful place to watch the animals happily going in to be milked when ever they feel like it. The calves are really the best !

Great tip Brenda- I will give that a go next time I do that. Thank you
Love the cows, they are so pretty. ❤
adorable eyes!
Your yogurt looks delicious. I don’t live near a dairy farm but maybe one of the farmers market people could help me. Thank you, Wendy! 🩷
Great idea!
Your oven is so clean!
some days better than others! 🤣

thanks for subscribing. I agree about the calf. there's something about the eyes
Yes, soft and sweet.
This looks so amazing! I want to try this but I don't trust my oven lol
Try it- it wasn't difficult
Great video. I just may try that as I live nearby a local farm and Creamery in upstate NY, USA.
Thanks kindly for sharing and your wonderful video.
That looks delicious! I've never made yogurt before. I'll be in the area of that farm soon, I'll definitely drop by and get some milk.
Worth a try!

thanks for your suggestions
I was wondering if your dog might like the whey you drained from your yogurt? It would be good for him too.
You are likely quite correct- He is a lab and would eat anything whether it was good for him or not!
Looks so healthy and delicious!
Thanks Judy,it is!
They eat dried dead brown grass? Animals should eat fresh green grass. Humans eat green lettuce for salad. Not brown wilted dead lettuce.

Cathy. Be sure to use unsweetened natural yogurt. No additives. You can also buy setting tablets at natural food stores. 🤞

Great you checked it our

It is evidently good in bread making plus other cooking. Still has nutrients for sure.
