Kudos for stating clearly that this is your opinion. I have owned a 790 Adv R for the last 4 years, and had the "pleasure" of riding the 890 Adv (non R) on a 7 day trip in Morocco this year. On the tarmac the 890 is fine, but once you get off the tarmac it falls short. The suspension is nowhere close to the R version and is really taking the fun out of off road riding. So my opinion, if you want to stay on tarmac the non R is fine, if you want to go on gravel and off road, the R is the way to go.
hey mate, i appreciate that comment, would you say its better to invest on the R version and having a second set of road tires when daily use rather than the classic adventure model and falling short on the off road field ? i would really appreciate your opinion on that ?
Indeed, same here! V , as obviously hardly goes off road, seems to miss the whole point of the "R", it IS literally "The Dirt Bike of the Adventure motorcycling segment", simply put!
i think you should also mention, that you can swap the fender, windscreen and seat between R and non-R, which are easily obtainable as KTM-powerparts. The price of good suspension can get expensive really fast so i think the R-Variant pricedifference is probably acceptable for offroad riders. Also Vtold; SMT when? Ive been long awaiting :)
If you are only riding these bikes on tarmac then sure, the Adventure is probably the way to go. Save yourself some money and get the more comfortable bike. But, if you want to do a lot more gravel and dirt roads and tracks like I do, then the Adventure is just not up to the same level as the Adventure R. The suspension alone is worth the upgrade price.
Since I accept that these are already overweight vs enduro bikes, I accept even a bit more weight (21kgs) to get the insane thrills of a 1290 SAR. Much better on highways, same in city and really not much worse off-road (heavy is heavy) but the smiles from avoiding death are bigger.
I don’t think I will. But I’ve ridden Stelvio recently and I’m very disappointed. Try the new BMW F900GS i suggest. It totally rocks in this new version. I’m working on an edit of my full review of it and hopefully will upload it next weekend.
Excellent review, you really can tell that it's towards to riding on the tarmac and how the two really stack against each other, si it's expected that the non-R will be way more confortable; however, the same comparison should be mande off pavement and this is where things will flip and you will see how the larger suspensión and ground clearence will playa in favor to the R
Great video. I have a question. So, is the 890 Adventure S vs R similar like the 1290 Adventure S and R where the R version is greatly speed restricted or does the 890 adventure R have the same top speed as the S-version?
Adventure review based on asphalt riding, ride them on gravel ans you will love the R
correct, the R is a weapon off-road and can be ridden as a big-boi enduro
How about testing the Husqvarna Norden 901 vs Norden 901 adventure vs KTM 890 Adventure vs 890 Adventure R

For me only the R, you just go where you want. For me the best Adventure Travel Bike ever produced.

Please, make a comparison between norden 901 expedition vs ktm 890 adventure R.
Wait,,,,, you can adjust the foot pegs !?!
KTM 790 Adventure 2023-2024 test ride when?

waay more $$$
Are you gonna ride review the 890 SMT? Not going off road so wondering if I should get that one vs a Stelvio/V2S/Vstrom 800.

Lowering kit z powerpartsa i masz niższą wersję R. Siedzenie też dokupisz. I to są bardzo tanie modyfikacje.

What about the rally?
Add £7k for really high performance suspension, and there you have it.
It's only a temporarily available version and I wouldn't even expect any bike for rent since there's just 700 of them to be offered as I understand.
@@VToldsMotoShow Correct. I am one of the lucky 700, but since I’ve never seen the bike before, I’m yet to make a final decision.
@@aslankarnuf if you like to ride hard off road, totally worth it 💯✊🏁
Hello! How tall are you? /Thanks
I’m 183 cm tall (6 feet).
5:13😂
I mean you’ve got to force the dealer to do other things like turn on your cruise control, etc. so what the heck
👍👍👏🇺🇸
