    I think the tibloc is a great piece of gear and i don't know why more boaters don't carry them, i don't think they'll ever replace an actual cordalette but they are super handy and quick. Great review man.

      Thanks. Your right, the cordaletta will never be replaced. It has some many uses.

    Why can't they make a version of this device that fits 2 ropes so I can use it as an autoblock when rappelling?

    I’m sure glad I’ve got a tiblock use it all the time dropped it off several cliffs you need a little string for it

    Dang, if only you got to 1000, you could have made a little side money. Nice video BTW. You do a nice job. I subscribed.

    DMM revolver carabiners are another handy way to improve your haul kit. Pulley built into the carabiner. Two tiblocs and two revolvers has gotta be the lightest/smallest rescue set up 👌

      Sweet. I'll have to check them out.

      Not so sure... Revolver are designed to reduce rope drag on runners, they pulley doesn't perform very well when weighted and it is on the wrong side of the carabiner so it can't be clipped into a Tibloc (try it!). You might be better off for that use case with something like Petzl Rollaclip

    Would definetely use it as a backup or as the primary but not alone when ascending

  • @johnjriggsarchery2457

    It would be nice if they made them for 1/2" arborist line.

    It look like a good safety device. For arborist work I don't see this replacing prusiks due to how a prusik can be used as both an ascend and descend device. A lot of climbers are using zigzags now instead of prusks but I think mainly in the arborist trade.

      After a bit of thought, I agree. I don't think it will replace the prusik. I have it as a back up, in my kit.

    Great video, the orange part is a snow scoop for when its being used in icy/ snowy conditions

    • @staibock5456
      @staibock5456 3 роки тому +3

      The orange part is to apply a slight pressure to the carabiner so the tibloc can't slide down the rope/ will grab immediately as the old model did not do perfectly.

    Will two of these fit on the same carabiner next to each other for dual ropes? It would be a light weight alternative to the Shunt

  • @chondromarecords
    @chondromarecords Рік тому

    I dont think this was intended to be a replacement for a prusik but i see what you're getting at

    • @rasmuspreston
      @rasmuspreston Рік тому

      Actually it is. Petzl provides the following description of the device on their website "Ultra-light and very compact ascender for rope ascents, hauling systems or friction knot replacement in self-rescue situations."

    • @chondromarecords
      @chondromarecords Рік тому

      @@rasmuspreston I don't doubt your quote is correct, however friction knots vary greatly in their use and application so to compare this to a friction knot seems to be misleading in my eyes. The most obvious reason is that (unless i have misunderstood) this device cannot descend when under load as many friction knots can?

  • @staibock5456
    @staibock5456 3 роки тому +4

    You sohuld clip the carabiner the way that the rope is inside the carabiner and not on the outside... for a pulley system with progress capture this doesn't really matter but there are implications where you would just hang off the tibloc and not the rope.

    But the teeth will damage your rope?

    • @rogueyeti6818
      @rogueyeti6818  3 роки тому +1

      A little bit yes. The ropes lifespan may be shortened a little.
