@@SausageFingers420 I thought I found it a couple of times but then after a few days of messing around with the tone, it starts to sound like shit again :D
Believe it or not, I actually auditioned for the Graham Dongle Band back in the day, but I could never get the solo to "Granddad Island" quite right. Then one day I stumbled upon your lesson on UA-cam that broke the thing down note for note. It was brilliant. While watching it, I thought to myself, "Wow, this guy has it all figured out, HE should be playing for the Graham Dongle Band!". Fast-forward just 4 months or so, and you've actually been invited by Graham Dongle himself, to shred with the Graham Dongle Band! So happy for your success man!
I switched careers to something radically different at 32 years old and am succeeding better than I expected. There is no 'would have' unless you allow it
Being a flute player for many years, I was always fascinated with the guitar. I once dated a guy who went to school and had many guitars. I simply asked him if he could teach me the basics like chords I didn’t quite understand. He whipped out a notebook and started writing music theory and told me first you need to learn mixolydian chord progression 🤣
I picked up my first guitar in 2003 it was a fender strat. I played she hates me by puddle of Mudd, well my version of it with single notes then I discovered power chords and that's when it clicked for me I was hooked. Well done Mr. Hall
Love the quote from Albert Lee’s signature tune “Country Boy” Did you hear about the time he jammed with Eddie Van Halen? Even Eddie couldn’t keep up and graciously conceded 😮
Me at 14: decided on a career as an electrician. Me at 15: discovers the electric guitar and decides that becoming a rock star is a much better career choice.
Mate. You manage to combine relatable (kinda musical) comedy with amazing playing. You are a legend and I hope that you keep it up so we can all draw inspiration from your cringe/epic content. Never change
I started playing seriously back in May, haven't learned a solo and haven't done anything with my band but I've been in my tone chasing phase for months
insteracting with camera is so true, i used to do it as kid , i would talk to my audiance even i had none, and i would say , you are about to wittness a greatist guitarist of all time :D i was like 10 years old :D
I'm in the "oh, searing pain in my left arm while playing guitar isn't normal, I guess I'm throwing away 10 years and relearning as a lefty to play around my injury" phase
I'm in the middle of being in a rut for several years (literally went through all previous phases as described in the video) so I hope big break is coming soon
Im on the chasing tone phase everytime im recording a new cover or writing a song. Its like 'man i can made It sound better or different' every single day.
I can actually still play the first solo ive learned, although ive gotten better at playing it. Learned it 3 years ago when i was 11. Amon Amarth - Live for the kill
Currently in the first phase(just bought my sg for about 3weeks), been able to do some easy iconic riffs but not any of the solos. Should I try to practice and play the solos or should I focus on perfecting the riffs that I know?
It’s so funny. After 27 years of hearing metal I start to learn guitar and after now some weeks of learning finger techniques and standards I wanted to have a sense of achievement down load the tabs from iron man and played. And it sounds originally like yours 😂. Now I am scared for the next steps…
I’m at a stage where I have a few riffs down and my greatest achievement is cowboys from hell solo. Although I need to be a lil faster. I don’t like the idea of learning a ton of different stuff at once. When I learn something I try to make it to where I will remember how to play it, and 9/10 times it sounds good. And I don’t have enough money to get a tone
I'm in the "realizing I've been playing for 20 years composed largely of tone chasing, assuming all I need is power chords while trying to write long, boring, meandering songs and never finishing anything and should probably actually sit down and practice some scales and other chord shapes so my Prestige Ibanez and American Fender aren't ashamed of me anymore and maybe I can write something actually interesting" phase 🥲
So all along, Bradley was actually recording the happenings of Rowan Atkinson's bedroom… no wonder he has that big a collection. I received a couple of videos.
The fact that there is no "learning chords" phase even if it's unintentional it's accurate
Chuh Ords?!? WTF is that?
@@freedustin Shit, ugly trousers that people used to wear in the 70's I think.
I know the 5 basic chords and I think I make them "sound" minor when I tweak them.
@@Zeldahol underrated comment
Why are you attacking me?
I've been at the first solo phase for 15 years and I expect to stay there for many more!
hahahahahh my thoughts exactly
Ha actually knew this was my first solo
Kudos on the consistency. Good for you!
Yo también
15 years first solo phase gang unite! 🙌
Been playing for 10 years but still chasing THE tone
It's neat when you actually find it. Took me 15 years.
@@SausageFingers420 I thought I found it a couple of times but then after a few days of messing around with the tone, it starts to sound like shit again :D
Spent years chasing tone until I got decent enough to realise I was the tone all along
The tone was really just the friends we made along the way
I'm at the "uses a compressor once and acts like a music producer " phase

The endless, relentless sweeps on "A Basket Full of Bunnies" is what stumped me. Meanwhile Brad here could do it double time no sweat.
I'm in the "wondering what would have happened if I haven't gave up learning guitar at the age of 10" phase when I'm 37 already.
I'm in the "wondering what great things I could have achieved if I gave up learning guitar when I still had the chance" phase.
This hits close to home. I played until I was 18. Even had Rusty Cooley as a guitar teacher. I'm 36 now wondering the same thing
You'd have less money and less space in your house/apartment/dumpster.
I switched careers to something radically different at 32 years old and am succeeding better than I expected. There is no 'would have' unless you allow it

Still learning my first solo.
After 25 years of playing.
Hey, some people are Kirk, some people are James.
Yeah, hate learning solos, just learn scales and impovise instead)
I’m in the “stuck in a rut for several years” phase… thanks for opening my eyes to that! *sobs quietly*
The "only downpicked" solo was the most accurate thing that I have ever seen.
Love the quote from Albert Lee’s signature tune “Country Boy”
Did you hear about the time he jammed with Eddie Van Halen? Even Eddie couldn’t keep up and graciously conceded 😮
holy shit how is the tone chasing phase so accurate? 😂
Bro i can't believe you got to play for Dongle. Saw them in 06' and they melted my face.
1906 ? same they were spectacular and blew their contemporaries away
@@sadjj saw them in 1890 when their original drummer was still in the band
@thesnesman5235 so jealous
I sort of skipped the band and solo parts and went right to getting my first decent guitar

What a roller coaster
The best part of this was the UA-cam video of Rock Discipline playing in the background lol. Petrucci probably taught many guitarrists with that.
You sir, are a lovely madman who makes genuinely funny and talented videos, thanks for all you do my dudes!
Dude its scary how accurate all these phases are. As a guitarist who started at 11 years old, I deem this worthy.
Love the "Rock Discipline" reference.
I went through a big break... Dreams breaking, that is... Whatever, I just left everything behind.
The tone chase phase touched me on a spiritual level
Person: How many times did you watch this?
Me: Yes.

omg this is SO TRUE, all the phases made me roll on the floor
That first bit cut DEEP in my soul.
Accurate. Even the falling asleep with guitar and jp rock discipline
The john petrucci guitar vid is so accurate 😂
I started playing seriously back in May, haven't learned a solo and haven't done anything with my band but I've been in my tone chasing phase for months
OMG, this is way to true.
I'm in the tone-chasing phase yet, starting the technique-grinding phase.
IDK why but the Bean Porn thing got me rolling

LOL the music school part was hilarious, by which I mean both the funny walk and the comment when leaving music school 😆 Great video Bradley!
Currently re-entering the technique-grinding phase after just recently coming out of the rut phase
Had my first guitar 28 years ago and still at the 'Learning Your First Solo' phase.
just out of the post music school disappointment hiatus, now moving into the i need every type of guitar zone
I've just went from tone chasing phase to technique grinding phase tgese psst few weeks lmao
Awesome content!!!!!
I still haven't got my first guitar but am deep in the "play every solo in D-bluesyish scale" in my saxophone journey
Nothing like a long day and some Bradley Hall to sweeten the day.
you just got a new subscriber cheers!

I'm legit stuck between the "technique-grinding" and "bass" phases, lmao. Scary how accurate your parody vids always are 😅.
The guitar strap failure 🤣😂

Nice to finally discover your brand of strings. Pick gauge reveal next?
I'm in my Bass phase. Shout out to Clay Gober from Polyphia for inspiring me.
Omg this so accurate it hurts (apart from the big break and selling out part, never got that far)
Dropping the guitar for the video..that’s commitment
Freshly new out of a 13-14 year rut and back at the leaning stages of playing the guitar
0:51 - yep
Bonus round between extended range and acoustic: extended range acoustic phase
Pretty accurate. Not at the big break yet, though. Still in my pretty ok sometimes stage.
That clip from About A Boy really threw me off lol. Been awhile since I've seen it, true classic
john petrucci's rock discipline is like my bible
Bro, that went from zero to one thousand just like that. He had us in the first half!
I stopped at the tone chasing phase, started playing classicalal guitar instead and never looked back since.
I've completed the few years in a rut phase and I'm in a crossover grinding theory/endless tone search phase.
I gave up on the tone chasing phase and jumped right into acoustic life. Things are much simpler here.
It’s been 7 years, still waiting for a decent guitar 🤙🤙

You forgot the downtuning and "how much distortion can I possibly add?" phases.
Bro I fucking died when he put on the top hat to play country
I'm a year late but just wanted you to know. That chicken picken country solo was really tasty. I dare say you would make the great Albert Lee proud
Brad, other than your musicianship, your vdo's are actually amazing. And they make me laugh. Keep up the good work. 🤟
