The '90s were a good time, with lots of emphasis on TV commercials, including specials like this, The Greatest Commercials You've Never Seen, and even a couple of hosted compilations of the year's Cleo Awards winners. As UA-cam clearly shows, there's a lot of interest in commercials from the near and distant past, but the networks haven't been interested in the last two decades. Can't really blame them since most of those commercials are available right here at our fingertips now. Having the original commercial breaks intact in this video is the icing on the cake. Thanks.
53:00 - Theme from “COPS” plays. “COPS” is filmed on location with the men and women of law enforcement. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. By the way, “COPS” is from Barbour/Langley Productions and 20th Century-Fox Television.
17:22 Three years later Tim Allen would go on to play the greatest role of his lifetime. Having handed a bag containing a couple of pounds of cocaine to someone he didn't know was a plainclothes police officer, he got off with a sentence which amounted to two years by turning states evidence and informing on at least 24 other drug dealers. This meant that he was charged under a less harsh federal law rather than the state law which would have meant he'd have received a mandatory sentence of life without parole. Meanwhile someone you've never heard of, by the name of Jedonna Young, who was the same age as him, was indicted on exactly the same charge, in the same state, in the same month and was, like him, a non-violent low level narcotics distributor. The difference is that she wasn't able make the same deal as him and was charged under that state law. She spent the next 21 years in prison, until her sentence (life without parole) was commuted in 1999. By that time Home Improvement was about to wrap after nine seasons and Tim Allen had headlined in six big budget films including The Santa Clause, Toy Story, Galaxy Quest and Toy Story 2. You know, all the stuff he's mainly known for.
