- Platform Edge Doors on the Jubilee Line Extension.
The doors are only featured at the stations below the ground on the JLE between Stratford and Green Park, the stations the PEDs being;
North Greenwich
Canary Wharf
Canada Water
Bermondsey
London Bridge
Southwark
Waterloo
Westminster.
Another good thing with the doors is that everyone knows exactly where the train doors are, so rather than scrambling to get to the doors to get on the train they can form an orderly queue
Yeah
yea
They actually do this at some places. Try visit Canary Wharf at peak times.
In the California bay area, the metro has markers for where the door aligns
These trains sound too good
Yh man
Jubilee line 1996 stock trains do have very nice sounding motors!
Yeah
This station is Canary Wharf
I know right
I have always been fascinated with Platform Screen Doors. My first time seeing them in person was the Dubai Metro back in 2014, and a few days later, the Jubilee Line Extension in London. I later visited Singapore in 2017 as well, and was thrilled to hear that they will be opening early next year in my city Melbourne, as part of the new Metro Tunnel project. They are just so futuristic.
Just feels like Singapore. We have them since 1987
In Singapore we have something similar called platform screen doors and they are installed at every station
Apparently here at London, they cant put PEDs at new stations without creating new trains itself. I think so anyway not 100% sure
Unless the train already has the correct technology
Yeah
@@Farleigh1050 They can, the same train that goes stanmore and stratford, go to here, it's just expensive to make these and some stations are on the surface but some underground stations also don't have it probably due to money
Brilliant footage
Thank you!
I have to agree
Nice upload I enjoyed ur videos 👍
Happy to see u friend and want to see ur videos more & more
I ❤ the Jubilee line!
Same except for when it closes and opens and recloses on me again
same
Same
Oh i already said same a month ago
It will be nice to see platform edge doors on the new northern line extension.
The northern line extension won’t be getting any sadly
@@southwest455 oh that’s a shame. Would really have liked to have seen the 95 stock with platform edge doors.
@@brooklyntrainspotting8464 1995 tube stock doesn't have the tech for them
And itd be nice to see Canning Town-Stratford with PEDs because they are part of the JLE and they have no PEDs. Overall, they aren’t underground stations.
@@jonah6404 no, tfl would have to change ALL TRAINS just for 2 stations, if it was more than like 4, it would be worth it
I mean this should be the norm
Damn I miss going on the train like when I was younger, it was so much fun and now I practically never need the train because my dad got his first car several years ago. I still go on the bus though and thats fun too.
Nice video :D
Thank you!
I love this video
nice vid
Hello from Saint Petersburg! I'm want to London))😭
PEDs should be installed in more lines, especially the deep-level lines.
The Alstom Metropolis on London underground and the c751a sound the same.
😁 - amused of the train failing to align properly with the doors
Great video. That was interesting.
Glad you found it interesting!
Nostalgic for me
1:18 How does staff open the door from the outside, there doesn't seem to be a handle and there's no motor
Good vid no lie
Thanks!
jubilee line - sound of the f1!
All stations on the JLE from Canning Town to Stratford doesn't have PEDs.
I think they should put it in sub surface lines only because it removes the 'underground' feeling to it
But still if its on subsurface lines it may just as well be an elizabeth line train but with a different route but with the jubilee line you feel like it's been there for a while and it feels more unique and you don't think of the elizabeth line because it has that curve on the train to show its an underground train which I think it's really cool but once it becomes like 2040 around there they will replace the s stock and soon we don't know it could look like an elizabeth line train so basically can't they just merge it? And also it will be weird to see ped in the middle of the air
Why the platform doors are uneven 2:31
Is that train auto or is it driven by a driver??
6 months where have you been 😥
Ikr
😢
I'll be making a return soon! Thanks for sticking around :)
Is that train controlled by a driver?
Yes a driver opens and closes the doors and oversees the automated running of the train (in certain situations, manual running of the train can occur)
Hi southwest
Hi Keith 👋
When will you do the next live stream
@@keithward9096 I’m not too sure at the moment Keith - keep an eye on the community tab 😉
As of 2021 London is the system in Europe to have platform barriers installed?? Have you forgot about Paris?? Three of their subway lines have barriers across the ENTIRE line. Line 14 since 1999, Line 1 since 2012, Line 4 since 2021.
Rome also has platform edge doors on its newest line (C) at all stations.
why do these vids feel soo empty and scilent these amazing peds prevent suicide they should be at every station
Well it shouldn’t if the train doesnt have ATO installed and make that kine up with the PEDs. If they dont have ATO, thats worst for you.
@@Farleigh1050 ok
Picadilly line will have doors
New train for it
Yup because the Picadilly, Bakerloo, Central and W&C are getting new trains with the PED technology
New York is so behind, wtf they can’t afford this?
I hate those platform edge doors
Why don't you like those lovely doors? They look good & do an excellent job protecting people from falling onto the tracks & stopping wind tunnel effects.
@@daveharris7224 I think they detract from the character of the underground...I love watching the train emerge from the tunnel and coming into the station. I just don't like the barrier between me and the train.
@@daveharris7224 I like the piston effect.
@@Gill12283 Idk I always feel safer on these platforms, especially after that man tried to push a random person on the tracks but that might just be my paranoia 😂
@@Gill12283 You shouldn't hate them. Because what if someone was planning to push onto the tracks? London Underground done that to keep people safe and alive. Be greatful.
