4:45 - EXCELLENT formation of infantry tactical movement not all bunched up together like every other film does. This is roughly how a unit would move in the field. They wouldn't move in the open however unless forced to but for a short film it at least demonstrates to an audience how this would look. Also great point ambush, which was their objective. A unit would line up similarly but with US tactics would have an assault squad that moves up in the objective and a support squad that stays and provides covering fire. USUALLY an assault like this would initiate with the largest weapon - the panzer faust in this case, but hey overall great job. - former artillery officer US Army
My father’s father served as a medic in the Wehrmacht against the Red Army then my Mother’s Grandfather served in the Wehrmacht as well in the same campaign of Operation Barbarossa against the Soviets. Both survived bravely plus they served years in the Gulags as Prisoners of War in Siberia!
God bless your family my friend. those were beautiful people and they were snuffed out so viciously by the US and the bolsheviks when all they wanted was peace
Here in Germany we do re-enactments but they tend to be short movies. We really can’t do much re-enactments in Germany due to having our identity’s tacken, but we the German people still remember our past and will likely soon forget who we are and our history. Thank you for doing a re-enactment, if my grandfather was there and the many others in my family who served in the SS and Wehrmacht they would have gladly helped for more realism’s.
I would like to see movies from Germany's perspective. Any movies about ww2 is always from American and Britain PoV..it's always filled with patriotic bullshit, especially American made films. They forget the crimes they have committed also.
Definitely wouldn't say the crimes are forgotten just no depicted, In time when it's convenient for Hollywood you will see a film centering around American War crimes. Also Lulu posted some very good films from the German perspective, Das Boot is one of my favorites.
My neighbor was a medic in the 9th infantry, he was knocked out of action in the Hurtgen forest. After going to assist a downed soldier, he caught some hot shrapnel from an 88 cannon in his shoulder. He won the Silver Star for something earlier in Africa, and it was pinned on him by George Patton. Mr. Hughes died in Jan ‘08. I miss that old man. His own children never really appreciated him. Sad. They sold all his war relics in an estate sale. I couldn’t bring myself to go.

This was a decent short film both from the cinematic creative aspect and the small unit tactics. As a former Field Artillery Cannon Crewman/ Special Weapons Section assembly team and security team member, a former Armor Vehicle Crewman and a former Metal Crafter and Squad Automatic Weapon Gunner in the Maintenance Platoon of an independent Heavy Dump Truck Company I had plenty of training experience in similar tactics. My first unit was a Field Artillery Firing Battery equipped with M-110A1/ A2 8 inch Self-propelled gun/ Howitzers and nuclear weapons capable. Most of my original small unit tactical training came from being in the Special Weapons Section. Wow, did I really see the Unterscharfuhrer carrying an MP34? Great film guys, people don’t understand the differences between the Allegemiene, Totenkopfverbande, and Waffen SS, the historical record should reflect it better. The greatest singular atrocities committed by the Waffen SS were perpetrated by Das Reich, and Totenkopf, which stain the combat records of other formations.
Just how elite were the Waffen SS? I know they had a few shining moments but the Wermacht weren't short of any major triumphs either. Thank you for giving credit where credit's due... My great uncle was Erich "Bubi"Hartmann - flying ace. You can google him... His brother, my Grandfather was Johann Hartman, a Colonel in the German Engineering Corp. I was raised in the US, btw. The Germans are GOOD PEOPLE!!!
WELL SAID and Thank you for posting a interesting fact. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erich_Hartmann Remember he was fighting for his country and these men and woman had no choice - they did what they were told. War is not a good thing - we all know this know, but we must never forget history and we must learn from history. We wish you all the best Joseph
Looks like a nice film. I wish you luck when released. Its too bad modern history has portrayed the German solider as a mindless killing machine of women and children; committing atrocities on a daily basis across Europe. As you mention in another clip was is always stared by politicians and finished by the Solider, Airmen, Sailor or Marine no matter what country. Problem with modern history is they always forget to mention atrocities carried out by the Allies and above all, the brutality of the Communist Parisians who in my opinion were cowards and the worst bunch of them all and they got away with cold blooded murder during and after the war (especially here in Italy). The German solider was well trained and the best at that time; I have learned through my own research that they were not so bad (a few were), but for the most part, they were men serving their country.
+rudeone4life Hi rudeone4life - Brilliant write up - we thank you for taking the time to leave a positive comment. We at IDP Film can only try to keep Alive Living History - especially with RCT Groups - who all do try very hard and are all very keen groups. Thank you & best wishes from WW2 team at IDP Films
Haha, 1:28 SS 6"4, Wehrmacht 5"2, very realistic I grew up near Hürtgenwald, the landscape is not that flat, very good job though, 10x better than Hollyshit
Dear AestheticX - we thank you for the nice comment - you are more than welcome to be a part of the cast - if would like to be in the final film we have still a couple of months filming left which is due to take place March 2007 on wards - the first part of the film is complete but we are writing the mid and end scenes November / Decemeber. Best wishes from all the team at Fallen Eagle WW2
NICE - really good piece of filming. Great to see a RCT SS Division - the color of your filming is good too. I watched with interest and the ending is cool - that poor Russian sniper ....all hell broke lose !!!!
+ramairgto 44 From everyone at IDP WW2 films - Cheers +ramairgto 44 - Best wishes to you We have a surprise Awesome film to be released in about 2 weeks which will be a game changer !
Hut ab and greetings to our friends to UK !
German uniforms in combat as portrayed in Hollywood movies and tv shows are what the Americans would call "Class A" dress uniforms equivalent to a Brooks Brothers suit worn by a professional banker or insurance broker in New York City. As the War progressed the uniforms evolved to cope with material shortages and availability, lessons learned in the field, and improvisation by the soldiers themselves. Often captured materials were used and factories in occupied countries produced product for the new "masters," not only of clothing but tools, weapons, electronics, motor vehicles, and medical supplies. Notice that the re enactors are using not only German issue small arms but examples of those from other nations as well, like the British STEN, Soviet Nagant rifle, and a Swiss Solothorn machine carbine.
Nice video, thanks for that! The uniforms and equipment are not quite suitable,. And the advance of the German infantry looks a bit different. Since you should do some research, but a big praise, so history can be experienced. Greetings from Germany. "Immer vorran"!
Hi avadhnam ravichandran remember it was filmed in only 1 hour - no script, no plan - we caught them 2 hours before they were all going home from a weekends training - weather was one of the worst weekends we had seem - storms / heavy rain that was not good for filming and remeber they are a group of chaps that have all come together trying to keep a little bit of history alive with authentic WW2 German gear. They are a great bunch of chaps and a pleasure to have worked with - so good they are staring in the feature film we are making called Fallen Eagle. Best wishes to you and have a great Christmas with your family.
JM - II can assure you - they are all grateful for your nice comment - I am sure they are all most major shows this year especially - The Hop Farm ( The show to be at )
Trotzdem Lg. Aus Wien, jedoch kein Daumen hoch. Ch
They had great tactics, lousy strategy. Also, they were eventually out performed in tanks by the Russians, aircraft by the US and Brits. Their main codes were broken by the Brits. The Germans tended to chase new super-weapons and weren’t as interested in good upgrades of their existing stuff. Two big exceptions were the STG 44 and the MG 42. Those were impressive. Don’t misunderstand me. The Germans were a tough outfit and had great stuff but they didn’t dominate in every category. No one can. Plus, their main strategist was an over-employed paper hanger.

If this is supposed to be 1944-45, I'm surprised that more of the men aren't carrying StG. 44's; at this point in the War, about 10,000 had already been issued, especially to the Waffen SS. Other than that, VERY accurate depiction of LSSAH in 1944-45. Also, what kind of planes were flying over during filming? They didn't sound like Merlins.
This is awesome but the German soldiers lack a variety of weapons, considering that this is late war and they are SS there would be guns like Gewehr 43s and Sturmgewehrs
shame about the many inaccuracies , no attention to detail ,.... the camera will always capture obvious mistakes , ....shame, as the actual camera work was good .
Why would you use "rabbit ear" bionculars in a standing postion with no protection, they were developed for trench use in WWI and at the very least you would use them prone?

In Nov of '44 no German military vehicle would last 10 seconds out in the open like that. Some Allied Jabbo would have blown them right off the road. They called it Stahlwetter; 'Steel Weather'.
Excellent short film however ,the actors seemed either too short or a bit overweight not exactly the slim youthful aryian stereotypes portrayed in SS recruitment posters, some of these actors don't look as if they could run too far either .
Stop criticising the short film for minor discrepancies etc it’s an amateur production etc but bloody good execution and colours etc handling a 34 or 42 gives me a chubby

yes....i saw a moisen.....a better sniper gun.....but not likley tolerated....the "sten " is the model 38 or 18.....shit the dead guy has a sten....clearly.....dumb editing.a rubbish gun.
Well done. Just think in future the German soldiers should all be thin/slender as they were in WW11 due to little rations, and being on Methamphetamine
I like the fact that people enjoy reenacting battles of history, I only wonder what kind of educational potential they expect to offer ? Knowing about the correct uniforms and rank-insignias, medals and stuff says nothing about (in this case) Nazi ideology and how things could've come this far in the first place ! Maybe my view on things like this is a bit biased since I'm german, but I dare ask : Why do reenactors only choose war-topics to bring up "large-scale history" to people's minds ?
Hi palomino73 - Theirs a massive following after Living History Groups - its on the raise with more and more people joining groups such as these - just look at War & Peace that says it all - MASSIVE !
The losses of men and equipment at the beginning of the eastern front could be interpreted in the way that the fast movement operations of german mobile troops was an successful approach of warfare, or rather it was a calculated strategic trap of the soviet staff to slaughter the german industry, which collapse nearly in 1944. Thus, the germans loses the war once they started the operation Barbarossa and had to face up an enslaving big sellout orgy of their industry at the end of the war. Wartime GDP in billions: USA: 800 (44%) USSR: 360 (20%) Germany: 350 (20%) UK: 290 (16%) The praised term of 'military incompetence' is to be used as usual in warfare, it's more a thing who's making less mistakes in the matter of time. To take decisions as member of a military staff might be really hard, even the obvious things are going to lose in the Fog of War, because the time is running and you have to make decisions. In this case, the german military staff had the same problem of 'incompetence' - especially in the timeline following Stalingrad with operations like Bagration, that was truly disastrous in losses for the german.
First would someone please explain why the LAH is in the trailer. In November the LAH was preparing for Watch on the Rhein (Battle of the Bulge) Also the terrain is terrible as the Hurtgen is the most dense forest in W. Europe and not field and Hills. The 30th division faced 74th army corp. SS divisions at Normandy 1st SS 2nd SS, 9th and 10th, 12 SS H.J and 17th SS Gotz von Berlichingen. 1st SS, 2nd SS and 12th SS were in Battle of the Bulge and 9th SS, 10th SS and 17th were at Arnhem
Basil Bradford - If you were to take the time and read the description first - you will see that THIS IS A VERY SMALL PROMOTIONAL FILM - THAT WAS FILMED FOR A ENGLISH GROUP of German SS reenactors - as the description states it was filmed in under 2 hours at their training camp in England. We would have loved to take them all to the Hurtgen Forest - all expenses paid - hey we could even have ask the German authority if they would mind us filming over there - with German SS gear ! Look - as the description says - Its showing the Original WW2 SS clothing and weapons used - everything is 100% authentic These guys take pride in "KEEPING HISTORY Alive" at shows all over England - and now have a strong following from all over the World. - The film is only a History guide to what was available to the German SS Solider - its that simple.
I went and read the description and I see what you were doing. I subscribed to you and will follow what you do. Thanks for the response since it cleared up the matter perfectly and the English SS reenactors do take their exertions seriously.
Hi Basil - They are a good bunch - A very tight knit group - we have met them on several occasions and they are dedicated to the History of the German solider during the WW2 period - that was one of the main reasons we said we would film them. In a nut shell - A great team of ordinary people who are trying hard in keeping History alive - we all can agree that certain things in History must be left alone - but their main goal is UNIFORMS, WEAPONS & DAY TO DAY LIVING - in what we know now were very bad times. We thank you for taking the time to write in - its good to hear all sides and we appreciate your comments all round. Best wishes to you Basil.

The work done by re-enactors is of enormous value. THAT is what it looked like. Thing is, the guys doing it for real we’re aged 18 to 25...
My neighbor was a medic in the 9th infantry, he was knocked out of action in the Hurtgen forest. After going to assist a downed soldier, he caught some hot shrapnel from an 88 cannon in his shoulder. You were fortunate to know this man. I would love to have heard some of his stories. His kids sound like a bunch of assholes.
The Germans were so ahead of their time with the camo.
Russian especial detachments also had camo
Bad management on the German's part that's why they were decimated, for the second time in one century.
The weapons were the best .They still make the finest guns .
S Papi very very true
The US had pretty effective camo but wasn't used in Europe because they didn't want our troops confused with the Germans.
Was used in the pacific
That guard at the shack has to be the shortest SS guy ever. Nice video. Enjoyed it much.
Brilhante registro dessas unidades.
Too cool! Uniforms and weapons look awesome! Love it! Nice job!
I like the way of precission with uniforms
I've been fascinated by the German army since i was 8 im 48 today so im not going anywhere soon keep up the good work

Well the Leibstandarte SS division was one of the elitest units of ww2, they also won major victories, its the same unit thats portrayed in this film.
The German army was the best, they lost the war, because they fought, alone, against the world.
They lost the war because America was willing to pay the price required to keep the world from being enslaved.
If they win the war, we will be ded
maybe they shouldn't have bit off more than they could chew, the german army wasn't this unstoppable mechanized menace you people seem to think it is.
If those American GI's knew what would happen to the USA (today), they would have come over to the German side.

I was thinking the same thing, but it could have taken place in 1945 when the began scraping the bottom.
I love German uniform and camouflage uniforms
That reproduced equipment is simply amazing.
Good to see films on the Germans side. We must remember those young men who went through hell fighting for their Vaderland.
They were fighting for European culture too.

Remember he was fighting for his country and these men and woman had no choice - they did what they were told. War is not a good thing - we all know this know, but we must never forget history and we must learn from history.
We wish you all the best Joseph
You shoud proud of him.
He stole what Engel calls me!,TRAITOR

Hi rudeone4life - Brilliant write up - we thank you for taking the time to leave a positive comment.
We at IDP Film can only try to keep Alive Living History - especially with RCT Groups - who all do try very hard and are all very keen groups.
Thank you & best wishes from WW2 team at IDP Films
Thanks! Most appreciated and keep doing what you are doing.

We have a new WW2 German Film trailer coming out very very soon - so keep a look out FILMING IS UNDER WAY !!!!
+idp Film Will do!
Yes, the postwar history is all made up lies. Sickens me.
Haha, 1:28 SS 6"4, Wehrmacht 5"2, very realistic
I grew up near Hürtgenwald, the landscape is not that flat, very good job though, 10x better than Hollyshit
Very well done. One thought I had, was that these actors looked too well fed, compared to those in the day.
very nice work, well recontructed
would love to have been a part of this! as a stand in or just a guard in the background/whatever, could have been a great honor
IDP Film do one on the 36th grenadier division of the SS waffen my grandfather was part of those men
However - I like the shot of the sidecar at the beginning, and reading how quickly and on a budget you did this well it looks great !!
What's the soundtrack for this film? heard it before in greatest story never told. Haunting piece of music. good films both.
Nice work! Good film. Are you the guys who are normally at War and Peace?
German Soldiers in WW 2 . Best of the World
NICE - really good piece of filming. Great to see a RCT SS Division - the color of your filming is good too. I watched with interest and the ending is cool - that poor Russian sniper ....all hell broke lose !!!!
RCT, why abbreviate?
You should muddy and smoke up the great looking flecta. It looks too clean!
Where can one buy a copy of this film, or view it, here in the U.S.A.?
Don't expect a Hollywood type film, but it is a good one. Thanks
+ramairgto 44
From everyone at IDP WW2 films - Cheers +ramairgto 44 - Best wishes to you
We have a surprise Awesome film to be released in about 2 weeks which will be a game changer !

very cool, keep em coming guys.
Hey scottiebones - we thank you for the nice comment - very much appreciated and yes we will keep them coming - we have a new WW2 film in the making
Thats good to hear, i find ww2 era to be fascinating, especially on the german side of it! Good camera angles on your vids by the way!
THe word German means Warman. A Military nation with 2000 years tradition.
The sound is in low quality xd but great film keep it up
Good to see the German army treated in a realistic manner. Mostly we get just the stereotype that has developed over the years.
C B Mays - well said & thank you for posting
I like the camera angles used in this trailer. I want to see the full movie.

Great film. Thanks for posting
+Stephen Wilkes
Thank you- really appreciated
Nice video, thanks for that! The uniforms and equipment are not quite suitable,. And the advance of the German infantry looks a bit different. Since you should do some research, but a big praise, so history can be experienced. Greetings from Germany. "Immer vorran"!
Nice work but I feel waffle SS actor's look oudated it would have to be young tall fellows it would have been great any way nice work
Hi avadhnam ravichandran
remember it was filmed in only 1 hour - no script, no plan - we caught them 2 hours before they were all going home from a weekends training - weather was one of the worst weekends we had seem - storms / heavy rain that was not good for filming and remeber they are a group of chaps that have all come together trying to keep a little bit of history alive with authentic WW2 German gear. They are a great bunch of chaps and a pleasure to have worked with - so good they are staring in the feature film we are making called Fallen Eagle.
Best wishes to you and have a great Christmas with your family.
Thanks for information and reply friends, looking foward for the fallen eagle

TOP MAN - so true
Best wishes +Guldzakhan Vlasova ( TOP MAN - так верно С наилучшими пожеланиями ) - I tried in Russian ?
How have I only just seen this. looking good lads hope to see you some of the shows this year!
JM - II can assure you - they are all grateful for your nice comment - I am sure they are all most major shows this year especially - The Hop Farm ( The show to be at )
Trotzdem Lg. Aus Wien, jedoch kein Daumen hoch. Ch
I liked it, good shots and good recreation in uniforms, greetings from Mexico
Hi. Greetings from the US. I hope Mexico becomes safer for the people. Are you interested in WWII? My people were German.
Extraordinary camera work and sound.

Que buena producción; filtros, ficción,
movimientos de camara, planos, sonido, etc...... me gusta...
Glovanni - we all thank you for your kind words - best wishes to you Fella
nice film, but question do they often use enemy weapons?

Hi Nick
I lot of soldiers would pickup or find weapons that they prefered.
The American troops - a lot used to want to get hold of the legendary MP40 gun ( ammo it took was interchangeable with other weapons ) and you will see this in War movies.
Remember its a battle field - and they came across so much stuff - some of it was better than they were equipped with. - Cheers Nick "
Hope this helps answer your question.
Comments are very positive and the video was great so I don't get what all the dislikes are for :T
Great ,looks really great , is it full movie or just trailor ?
If this is supposed to be 1944-45, I'm surprised that more of the men aren't carrying StG. 44's; at this point in the War, about 10,000 had already been issued, especially to the Waffen SS. Other than that, VERY accurate depiction of LSSAH in 1944-45. Also, what kind of planes were flying over during filming? They didn't sound like Merlins.
This is awesome but the German soldiers lack a variety of weapons, considering that this is late war and they are SS there would be guns like Gewehr 43s and Sturmgewehrs
Units in the open with Allied air superiority? An assault without over watch or suppression MG fire?
shame about the many inaccuracies , no attention to detail ,.... the camera will always capture obvious mistakes , ....shame, as the actual camera work was good .
nelz100 xJust enjoy the film even big film productions make mistakes for fuck sake ..
Super.
Hey Jurgen
Thank you very kind - best wishes from all the WW2 at Fallen Eagle
The 6th companies soldiers looked like they had been fighting since ww1
Nice short story.....well i hope they make *herman goering division* short movie...
Why would you use "rabbit ear" bionculars in a standing postion with no protection, they were developed for trench use in WWI and at the very least you would use them prone?
Sadly the good guys don't always win the war.
we thank you for the nice comment - We have still a couple of months filming left which is due to take place March 2007 on wards - the first part of the film is complete but we are writing the mid and end scenes November / December.
Very Best wishes from all the team at Fallen Eagle WW2
Where did u film this
Nice to see the Beretta M38
Well Impressed AGAIN - Top Film Guys !
+John Williams
Thank you- really appreciated
In Nov of '44 no German military vehicle would last 10 seconds out in the open like that. Some Allied Jabbo would have blown them right off the road. They called it Stahlwetter; 'Steel Weather'.
Nice film, but you gotta notice..... the German background voices come from Day of defeat source....
Very good job guys 👏👏👏👏salutes from México 👏👏😀💪
German camo in the years of ww2 is groundbreaking for all of the modern camo used today!
No mather, if it was used good or bad.
Fact.
Where is its full length version plz ?
Damn I want that motorcycle with the sidecar.
Where to watch the movie
Excellent short film however ,the actors seemed either too short or a bit overweight not exactly the slim youthful aryian stereotypes portrayed in SS recruitment posters, some of these actors don't look as if they could run too far either .
Stop criticising the short film for minor discrepancies etc it’s an amateur production etc but bloody good execution and colours etc handling a 34 or 42 gives me a chubby
Impressive film that keeps audience watching.
Why the SS commander keeps the MP40 without magazine ? 2:09
Why are the germans armed with stens and mosins

IDP Film one of them has a modello 38
jamesdc9595 if you did that blue it's an article 15 violation, at least according to my buddy in the army. it's endangering you and your men
Correction, its not a Sten, its a MP40.
yes....i saw a moisen.....a better sniper gun.....but not likley tolerated....the "sten " is the model 38 or 18.....shit the dead guy has a sten....clearly.....dumb editing.a rubbish gun.
impressive, most impressive
Hi Viking12 - really nice of you to take time and leave a nice comment - we thank you
Best wishes
Viking12 .
Hey! That guys k98 looks just like mine ! I better go look under my bed!
How'd you get the ss runes in the title?
The losses of men and equipment at the beginning of the eastern front could be interpreted in the way that the fast movement operations of german mobile troops was an successful approach of warfare, or rather it was a calculated strategic trap of the soviet staff to slaughter the german industry, which collapse nearly in 1944. Thus, the germans loses the war once they started the operation Barbarossa and had to face up an enslaving big sellout orgy of their industry at the end of the war.
Wartime GDP in billions:
USA: 800 (44%)
USSR: 360 (20%)
Germany: 350 (20%)
UK: 290 (16%)
The praised term of 'military incompetence' is to be used as usual in warfare, it's more a thing who's making less mistakes in the matter of time.

Fantastic photography!
Look - as the description says - Its showing the Original WW2 SS clothing and weapons used - everything is 100% authentic
These guys take pride in "KEEPING HISTORY Alive" at shows all over England - and now have a strong following from all over the World.
