I saw Bill Haley and The Comets live at The Kilburn Gaumont State in London, the date was I believe about 1956. I can remember hearing "On your marks, get set,now ready, ready,go" as the stage curtains were raised, and there they were Bill Haley & The Comets singing Razzle Dazzle - the audience went CRAZY, we had never heard anything like this before ! only Frank Sinatra and Perry Como, so we were all blown away by the original KING OF ROCK, until Buddy came along.

Hey, that scene has got to be from the movie “Rock Around The Clock” featuring Bill Haley and the Comets; it hit the silver screen in 1956. The band was on their way to being the Kings Of Rock And Roll until some kid from Tupelo, Mississippi by way of Memphis blew their doors off and they were consigned to the oldies circuit. But for two years Bill Haley and the Comets kicked some musical ass. Haley was just 55 years old when he passed away. I'm 73 and remember so well how elders acted this way towards rock music. My church called it devilish so I gave away my collections. We have this attitude still, look at comments and youth rebel at our past also. I started looking at today's music and some are very good. I'm integrated now and listen to the music and not the ERA. No gender confusion. Pass that phrase on by the way. GENDER CONFUSION. Let's rock on, the only 10% of us, if we can now
Yes, I am indeed. And, in spite of my age, I keep rockin and rolling around. Actually, not more than two in a row. My knees suffer, but my spirit is still young.

Hi, Isabel, there are many people here in Argentina who like rock´n roll and Bill Haley. I heard Rock around the clock, the first rock record when I was 13. I´m a bit older than you. I was born in Tucumán but I´m living in Buenos Aires. I dance Rock since i was 17 up to now, I´m 70. Unfortunately Bill Haley died years ago. But we have his music by Tou Tube.
This is the rock n' roll I remember, not the swing, jive or boogie that passes off for R&R. Bill Haley was the first R&R band I remember listening to before Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Domino, all of which we used to dance to in England during the 50s.

I was in my mid 30s when Wild Bill switched from Western music to rock-n-roll, he was a great entertainer, I never cared what other thought. Great memories :-)
Cool! I saw them in the late '90s without Bill Haley of course but boy were they rocking it out on that stage! They were probably in their 80s but still making great music and clearly enjoying themselves!

The instrumental in this song as performed by Frank Beecher is fantastic. It just doesn't get any better than this. Haley's early bands were all solid performers.

Dancing is such a lost art. The generation of today just doesn't do it anymore, they are too scared. I hope one day I can find a girl of my own with enough courage to just get up and 'break the ice' like the ones back then.
I posted this song on in honour of my late Mother who would have been 90 this coming July 2nd!! One of the few rock and roll songs she liked!! Miss ya Ma!!!
@yoenace It's called "Rock Around the Clock" and was made in 1956. While it was a "quickie" movie, it ranks alongside "Jailhouse Rock" and "A Hard Day's Night" as one of the great rock and roll movies.

An underrated act from the early rock n’roll era, Bill Haley and His Comets was more than Rock Around The Clock.
If those seniors think this music is barbaric, then maybe they should hear today's music.
Things were different back then, since then the envelope has been pushed on what is "barbaric" and what is "tame"
+SupahSmashBrotha96 I concur
Arthur Munoz Once, Elvis Presley made an appearance on Ed Sullivan and when he was performing as a had to shoot him from the waist up because his hip movements were "inappropriate"
He was seen a bad influence
Arthur Munoz true. Rock and roll was seen as a sign of rebellion back then
Guy Furet I just love the dancing in this video.
