- Bandy World Championship 2016 is the XXXVIth Bandy World Championship. Ulyanovsk Oblast in Russia has been selected as host region, where most games will be played at the Volga-Sport-Arena in Ulyanovsk.

Been doing a lot of research for the history of hockey on my channels, and it's amazing how all Euro teams pretty much started off with this.
Just not a thing in the US but Broomball is a good Hockey alternative in the US.
Bandy is indeed the early predecessor of ice hockey in large parts of Western Europe and Russia. Just like hockey, it originally was played on frozen ponds or football pitches. However, its popularity soon faded when ice hockey emerged as covering large pitches with ice proved too costly and time-intense while ice hockey could be played on indoor rinks that were smaller and allowed to be iced permanently, which proved far more practical and economic. Today bandy is largely extinct except in Sweden and Russia, whre it still enjoys some popularity and is played professionally.
A lot of the old Soviet hockey programs was based off Bandy.

Bandy is ice hockey the size of football.
Much more like Field Hockey on ice then Hockey though.
The rules are much closer to field hockey and soccer though. so it's rather a cross between soccer and hockey on ice.
The atmosphere and female announcer reminds me of some 90s racing game.

Сборная Швеции выглядела убедительнее всех на этом чемпионате и на следующий год на Йоранссон Арене жду от сборной Швеции реванша в финале
