  • Sarpakavu is a Malayalee tradition of protecting small patches of rain forest in thickly populated area. This was a very common feature in Malayalee life, half a century back. Even those who revered Sarpakavu have destroyed the forest becauseof many compelling reasons. Now, only very few of them have survived. Most of those Kavu which survived are now part of Temple property. Even under the protection of Gods they are not going to be survive if our greediness and ignorance are not reined. In this video you can watch a beautiful Sarpakavu and its perennial problems. The video was shot from Penothil Bhagavathi Kshetram, Kozhikode.
