After reading a lot of these comments I can only say words like average band , mediocre band definitely do not fit the description of CCR . Those guys sang about the American way or the controversial period called Vietnam . Fortunate Son , a song about how privilege and power made one exempt from having to go fight in a controversial war . Who'll Stop The Rain , Have You Ever Seen The Rain , Run Through The Jungle were a few more protest songs that CCR put to music . They were a legend and still are , their music will never die . They were just four country boys that wrote and sang from the heart and became a legend in my opinion . If Tom Fogarty hadn't passed away I believe Credence Clearwater Revival would still be making music today , like the Stones , Moody Blues , Eagles and others from the late 60's and on . It's just my opinion that some people didn't like CCR because of a draft dodger mentality or might've been one . The band told about how they saw things and felt . They did protest the Vietnam War in song without violence unlike so many others . So yes in my opinion CCR's music will live forever . I'm 64 years of age and my 3 favorite bands of my lifetime are CCR , The Eagles and Bob Segar . All legendary bands .

I remember standing against the back of my uncle’s‘72 Ford pickup cab as we idled across the hayfield to load the bales and listening to “Bad Moon Rising” on the radio. As an adult I was serving with an older gentleman (in his seventies) on a church financial board and we were talking about music that we grew up with. I knew he had lived as a young man in Clearwater, Florida, but I was floored when he shared that he actually contributed $50 toward CCR’s demo recording of “Proud Mary”. He said there was a little cafe down there where he and a bunch of the younger crowd hung out, including many local musicians. He was married to a girl coincidentally named Mary at that time, and he said he was always a little suspicious that the song was about her because, “She wasn’t too proud.” Me and the other man on the board there were floored 😝😝😝 RIP brother Ronel Jenkins and thanks for the hilarious memory! Sigh😍 the memories! My first rock concert was on 13th of February 1972 In Adelaide, Australia at the Apollo Stadium, I was 14 and went with older friends and it was Creedence. Was awesome then, is awesome now and will always be awesome.
I am proud to say that Creedence Clearwater Revival was my favorite band growing up. I remember transcribing the lyrics by hand in my room. I bought every LP they made. I grew up listening to The Beach Boys, the Doors, Black Sabbath, Humble Pie, and Led Zepplin. Later in life, I realized the true genius of John Fogerty. I have always appreciated the simplicity of the music. What a gem. Thanks for sharing this. I would love to hear “Lodi” in this fashion.
Not the same guitar but so nice to listen to him happier days for music and very different thinking in people generally but better days ahead still praying for that.
All I can said, is that about 40 years ago I heard it before I even understand a word he was saying, and love it then. Now some grand kids later I enjoy it even more. Keep on Rocking old man.
Thanks for the beautiful song. I'm halfway through his book Fortunate Son, I've got several other books started but they're just going to have to wait. The Golliwogs played at my high school and I remember seeing someone playing pull offs or hammer ons with one hand free. I was totally in awe and haven't stopped playing guitar since.

Mr. Fogerty , back in the early 70s my dad sang me this as a kind of nursery rhyme. I thought it was a childrens song for a long time. Imagine my surprise as a teen going thru dads albums and finding it was real! He never could keep a CCR album away from my sticky fingers again. RIP Dad and Rock On , Sir ! From two generations of fans !
Not just my all-time favorite Creedence songs but all-time favorite from any band. I first heard this when I was 9 years old and it made an impression on me that made me very happy. Dinosaur Victrola list'nin' to Buck Owens... I thought of actual dinosaurs rather than an antique record player but hey I was 9 and it gave me an overwhelming sense of happiness. John lifted my spirits today & "thank you" does not seem enough!
Stay healthy everyone!!!
Perfect song to pass these trying times away! Also: “Who’ll Stop the Rain?’
UA-cam it, he already did it :P
Bought this my first 45 lol
Maybe, also Jambalaya. Ok, no.
Pauletta Johnson I’m not in the sink, I’m in the tub. Other than that, we are certainly in sync!
John and a guitar ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Sigh😍 the memories! My first rock concert was on 13th of February 1972 In Adelaide, Australia at the Apollo Stadium, I was 14 and went with older friends and it was Creedence. Was awesome then, is awesome now and will always be awesome.
Good to see john is still kicking in his trademark flannel shirt.god bless.🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇🎇
“Bother me tomorrow, today I buy no sorrow” One of my favorite lyrics ever.
Good for today's needs also.
Super Duper Sparkling. I’m getting on my time machine and heading back to 1966
I am proud to say that Creedence Clearwater Revival was my favorite band growing up.
You will miss him when he is gone, they just don't make artists like this anymore, one of the best to ever do it, living legend
Best band from the 70s bar none! How do I know? You rock John Fogerty, please sing Fortunate Son
I used to listen to this song as the sound of the music came from some faraway loudspeaker that was probably set up on the branch of a tall tree. Golden childhood years! Thanks for your talent!
Man he can still sing and hit the high notes.
One of the greats! Even the crow liked it at the very end!
JOHN FOGERTY your such a beautiful soul in this planet..the living LEGEND💪👍💖
My father loves CCR, and thet music was part of my life since I was born. Today I have 40 years,my father is die 10 years ago, and when CCR songs play on radio It reminde me of my old mad. Father I miss you.
When I would sing to this as a kid with my 45 rpm record collection back in the day never thought one day we'd be singing this in quarantine. And I wore that record out then.
The Concert in Sweden was amazing. Many thanks (1998)
My gosh, he sounds fantastic!!
HOT DOG!!! John Fogerty you have some of the greatest pipes of all time. Social distancing with your guitar and making great music as always. Stay healthy sir.
Just love that song ... Always remind me of my father who always played it when i was a kid.
God bless the John and the rest of the planet.
Thank you John for performing !
The only way to listen to a master playing his guitar and enjoying what he does best.
Every body gets old but John still got it
As a 60 year old man everytime I hear it I relive that same feeling of happiness. And that, my friend, is the beauty of music.
Great story. Listen everyday and stay happy.
Oh my god I'm so fucking stupid,it's taken your comments to make me realise "dinosaur vitrola " is antique record player, now the lyrics makes sense, thank you lol
@@davidmellish3295 LOL. The lyrics to this song will NEVER make sense!
@@truthstillmatters59 well at least some of it makes sense, listening to buck Owen's on an old record player as for the rest....
I take your point lol
@@davidmellish3295 make sense when his, children a boy(giant) makin carthweels, a girl in higheel's dancin in the lawm, look those happy creatures......tambourines and elephants (probably trumpets) are playin in "the flyn' spoon" band (if he had a CCR band with a grows ¿why not a "FS" with his family?
It's very inspiring to see and hear that John has still got it. Hope I'm that alive at his age.
I'm mexican, I never been in USA but I love this kind of music.
Music is universal! So glad you enjoy this. :D
As he gets older his vice just gets more in harmony with his style of music, Such an American icon and legend. Thank you Sir.
I’ve probably watched this video ten times in the last couple days. Constantly whistling it.
No music ever makes me feel as great as CCR and John Fogerty IS CCR.
John you sound great!!!!!!! Thanks for all the years of great music
My father and I would sing this together all the time...he is no longer with us but this brought me right back to sweet times !! Thank you....well done, wonderful memories
What a great dad you had!
@@truthstillmatters59 He was truly a great man and role model. My life is richer because of him. And thank you for the kind words.
@@famasmaster2000 maybe one of your kids can accompany you unless they're into music like you.may God bless you and your family
@@mikerivers695 Thank you so much for that ! My kids are my world and we do get going pretty good some times :) Making memories is the name of the game to me. May your family be equally as blessed !!
