No it's not about drugs. For anyone that's new to CCR, John Fogerty wrote this song for his three year old son as an introduction to rock and roll. It was based off a Doctor Seuss book, "Think I saw it on Mulberry Street.

I also thought how much I'd like to hear CCR's John Fogerty in heaven after I realized how much joy he's brought into SO many lives with his happy music. 🙏 🤲 bless him back! Anyway, I am glad you shared about your dad's funeral music playing this CCR song bc it is probably my very fave as well but due to its not being traditional funeral music, I had ambivalent feelings to write it down to be included in my plans for my funeral UNTIL I saw you DID it for your dad.

As I listen to this timeless classic, the lyrics transport me back to a simpler time, when life seemed to move at a slower pace. The music stirs memories of warm summer nights, and the longing for freedom and adventure. But as the song comes to an end, it also serves as a reminder to cherish the present moment, and to not take for granted the beauty of the world around us. Thank you Creedence Clearwater Revival for creating such an emotional and impactful piece of music

My mom loved the Lord with all her heart and died early at 51. As a small child I would see her in the kitchen doing dishes and she would be singing this old song. My how I miss her tonight. Hug your living loved ones and tell them how much you love them because when the Lord takes them home it will change you forever. I am 65 now but I still remember her singing this like it was yesterday. May this song bring you hope and comfort!

Professor Mercury Starting in the sixties, with our modern conception of what constitutes great pop music, there has been a proliferation of both great music and terrible music which has never really slowed down. There's just as much great music being made now as there was in the 60s, not much of it tops the Billboard charts, that's all. Same is true for the eighties, and most of the nineties, and even parts of the sixties. We only remember the great music because great art endures. The first half of the sixties was full of terrible novelty songs and souless folkies, but nobody remembers those, they remember Creedence.
