@@TheAussieFlipper absolutely! 100% they should be happy with sales, regardless of who they are selling to. But unfortunately they are shooting themselves in the foot with prices too high on most things.
In my experience the prices at thrift stores are good if you want the item for yourself. At my thrift stores they usually markup the expensive items so their is not much room for profit. Sometimes they do miss things and you can still get lucky. You have to check in store regularly and check the item for conditions. A lot of the time the good stuff sells fast.
I no longer go to or donate to Lifeline, Anglicare or Vinnies op shops due to their pricing. I support Salvos, Red Cross and independent/church op shops. Not sure if you have the loyalty card at Salvos in QLD but that's something to make sure you use! Quick question... How are you shipping Pokemon Cards? Look forward to watching every week!
Pokémon cards are in a medium tracked envelope with a padded mailer and cardboard. The card itself is in a penny sleeve and a top loader. Never had an issue and the overall cost is about $7
I've now abandoned the Salvos and Vinnies over their price increases. The $1 a disc is ridiculous, $10-$20 DVD box sets 😮😢I could get brand new at JB Hi-Fi for the same price. Red Cross I'll continue to support at the moment since they're still cheap.
But we do. It’s just accompanied in the buy it now price. Comps are comps. The items worth what it’s worth. Free postage is just a way of marketing a perceived advantage for the buyer. There is no difference
I agree that op shops are charging a lot of money these days. I usually go in to look for items for me as I’m on a limited income. I’m now also looking for items that I could sell for a profit that don’t require a huge outlay. My local op shops rarely have a bargain so I check marketplace as well. Great video too.
I absolutely loved the Dead Like Me series. You probably could have got a bit more for the collection, if you had the movie (Dead Like Me, Life after Death) that goes with it.
I think its great you guys sell more season boxsets like that. I have less luck with them. I usually even try to avoid them because I can price them as low as $2 and still can't seem to get rid of them. My single DVDs sell pretty well though. Just wish I had your luck when it comes to complete seasons
Yeah, I just went to the opshop today. I found a ps4, which someone just donated. They said we couldn't sell it. And They said would sell it market place!
It is the same in England, charity shops put big prices on stuff but are overflowing with donations. I thought if you sold everything cheap then they would get rid of stock
i’m from the uk, i work full time and source after work and days off, being consistent and having a thrift shop or charity shop as we call it round works for me knowledge is the key they slip up more then they think
Turquoise! Loving the videos guys, just started my reselling journey a few weeks ago! FYI, just found a Wiggles DVD series 2 at a tip shop for $1. Listed for $120 🎉
The manga is probably more difficult sell since it was all in Japanese. English translated manga is the way to go unless you know the category well or find something collectable and rare.
Hi guys, went to see Steven Bartlett on Friday night in Sydney. He was so good, really great presentation covering lots of topics and clips from DOAC. You’ll love it, have fun!
Great tube, love the longer format and inclusion of the mad eats! Not really worth doing personal delivery as can mess your shipping times not being delivered with tracking ect eBay algorithm! Colour must be Blue🥶
hey mate, I am in perth too, can you share a few cheap OP shops to go for thrifting? I have tried vinnies and salvos and they are expensive and not worth it i think
My local vinnie’s has some good buys occasionally in Penrith NSW … but most of the time it’s a flop I got a few mimco wallets new with tags for $10 and sold for $50 each though
@@TheAussieFlipper savers are great coz people get discounts for donating, however their prices can be all over the shop depending whos doing the pricing. What about Foundation 1? They are priced how op shops should be priced at. Complete Series for $6-8 bucks.
Off topic but cool…when you left one of those stores I saw a Yamaha Warrior 1700 motorcycle in the parking lot that looked like the one I used to have. I hit a deer 🦌, broke my wrist and totaled it about 1.5 yrs in…great bike. Rest of the video was good too. Just sharing 😬
Vinnes is so over priced now for a op shop. I go back there once in a while and still she the same stock setting there. Never going too move a tv series for season for $10.
Personally thrifting fell off for me like 10 years ago I get things elsewhere I do enjoy the hunt but I don’t expect to find anything when I do rarely it’s a bonus
Where was that new lifeline with the horrendous prices please? SO I CAN AVOID IT!!! How revolting of them! Also are you comfortable sharing where the salvos ( I think it was) with the big red frontage is? I'm due for a day away from my renovation & I haven't been to a (salvos?) of that size before, cept in USA, I had no idea we grew them that big here too. I understand it's down the Goldie somewhere but finding it before I run out of puff n patience, at my age, could be a challenge. If you don't wish to location share, I will just have to make lots of phone calls lol. Kindest regards Kirsten Have a great day!🤗
Shoes are always over priced in the op shop it’s a bit ridiculous. Red is what my guess is even though I don’t live in Queensland. Lifeline shops are always over priced
These shops are just full blown retail shops posing as op shops it’s disgraceful they are taking advantage of people’s generous donations and trying to make huge profits on them.
Those expensive Dr Seuss books were pricey because a couple of years ago they were being banned/protested against due to racial depiction/stereotypes of the day. They were hot items for a while. I wonder how long that thrift shop had them at $8 each for? They may have jumped on the bandwagon.
Just from the little I've heard of this Bartlett guy, I already don't like him, lol. But hope you guys get to go see him. I hate when those places overprice stuff. There is a small amount of resellers, who are not doing anything wrong. But they get all of this stuff for free....there is no reason to put prices that high, especially when they're meant to be helping struggling families, etc.
Its all bs. The thrift stores get all their stock for free then sell the best stuff themselves on ebay... then the stuff they have on the floor is only just cheaper than ebay prices. Other than funiture you cant get good prices anymore at thrift stores.. unless it slips under their radar
Love your content from an Australian point of view. Myself i have on Ebay flipping for over 8 years now. You never know what is ahead. So look at other income streams. Being in North Qld my sources are limited but you have to always keep an eye out. Mate thanks again for the content.
I like that you set your goal of $400 for this specific sourcing day, but technically until all that stuff sells you make nothing. Just not a fan of adding up "potential" revenue when some of that stuff you picked up only sells for half of what you think. And the sell thru rate on the Steph Curry shoes is roughly 1% depending on how you search. Like I said I like the thought process of having the daily goal but then personally I hate when people say cost of goods was only $50 and potential sales is $500 when it hasn't even sold or the ones who say "I made $400 per hour today" when all they did was sourced $400 of potential sales in 1 hour. Again everyone is different in how they see things and how they figure their own numbers even if they aren't real.
No I 100% agree with you. We're buying Steven tickets regardless. We just wanted to make sure we could hit a goal of finding enough worthwhile stock. The strength of your newest listings impacts your old stock potential of selling so I was happy enough with the days sourcing efforts.
What's the first 2 words that come to mind when you think of thrifting for profit in 2024...
Aussie & Flipper!
Be choosy
No games.. At least most good ones I find seem to be priced like ebay smh. its fun trying regardless
Judgement & Jealousy 😂
Listing everyday
I LOVE how low energy Courtney is! Makes a good change from the usual YT personality. Keep it chill Courts! ❤
Going on the Morning Show multiple times has really helped with thrift store prices lol you contributed so no point complaining about it!
