Ian Bremmer looks more and more weighed down by the cares of the world. He strikes me as a sincere man, who cares about what's happening. I hope he knows how to self care in such difficult times.
Russia saved the Assad regime from collapsing a decade ago, and they tried to get Assad to negotiate with the rebels and were frustrated with his refusal. Assad's regime was always going to collapse. You can't prop up a country that can't stand on its own 2 feet forever. Perhaps Russia would have had a few more planes attack the rebels with bombs but like Assad's army was underpaid and not very dedicated, they would have lost to the rebels whether Russia had the war in Ukraine or not. They probably didn't want another Afghanistan like the US. Right now the US has no relationship with Afghanistan because it tried to keep the Afghanistan government up as long as possible. Seems at the moment Russia and the new Syrian government are having dialogue and both sides say it's positive. The new Syrian government needs to make allies on the world stage in order to gain control over the country. Many actors including Russia have destabilized the country over the years with warfare, but the new Syrian government seems to be pragmatic and sees being vindictive against Russia, the US, Europe, Turkey, Israel, Iran, Lebanon, etc. like if they start cutting ties with countries, they won't have allies to turn to.
This something that is not talked about. Russia economy is piss poor, it has 1% is very rich and rest of the people inside of Russia is just getting by. They have no middle class. which means they cannot afford to support other countries with billions of dollars of weapons. This why the Soviet Union fell in 1990. America knew that eventually the Soviet Union would collapse if they over extended themselves.

Bashar devotion had for 🇸🇾 so sad
This woman talks too slow & with too much self-gravitas… and you can see the impatience on Ian’s face as he pounces to add more context for her lol
She talks slowly so that Republicans can understand.

What causes these rebellions, American soft power. Our internet, TV shows, and American lifestyle.
