Kurds are the brightest in Syria. Only they have presented a working system for a future Syria which Assad said no to. Democratic votings, citizenship for all Kurds, Federalism within Syria.
Well, the Kurds created SDF and are the main proponents of the system. No Kurds, no SDF. Actually there's a majority of Arabs within SDF but problem is they're not loyal, as seen in Deirezor etc
I find it amazing that those who are calling for the International Criminal Court to try B. Netanyahu for war crimes remain silent on the matter of holding Assad accountable for all the crimes he committed against his people. Me thinks there is more than just a bit of hypocrisy involved here.
When the Shah of Iran, the U.S. dictator was deposed, the revolution was not this celebrated by Western media. On the contrary, the toppling of Ghaddafi by the West was celebrated, but Libya is far worse today.
no. what are you talking about, libya was never and is far worse than syria. you didnt see 13 million libyans displaced, you didnt see libyan concentration camps, you didnt see human butchery prisons in libya ? right ? that was civil war. Syria was something else.
Having watched so many of these discussion over many platform and channels, finally one that spends a few minutes talking about the destabilising nature of the Turkish state in their attack of Kurds in Syria.
It was a great round table discussion- all the panelists were practical and the discussion was fact based, not biased. We want to see similar round table in future. Thanks
Take a rest my friend. Israel is a tiny little country surrounded by enemies and extremists. It will do what it must to survive. Turkey however is in the mood to play some chess.
They all talk about (23.50.... you clearly didn't watch all the video), you just don't want to pay attention. Or you are biased. Nobody blames Turkey for the Israeli occupation in southern border. Turkey invaded and occupied the northern border, don't you know? The only funny thing is your logic
The world failed the Syrian people,it is now time for the world to assist Syria on their road to peace, reconciliation and reconstruction, Best wishes to the people of Syria
I really don't understand the level of stupidity required for a person who when confronted by a nation in transition asks whether that country "has a chance for democracy." We have democracy in my country and we elected a person who wants to cut his own government in half and abandon all the policies it has defended with blood, toil, and treasure for 80 years. Our government is dysfunctional. For four years we head south, then for four years we head north, shunning the south. Is it any wonder the country is falling apart at the seams. Around the world dictators are getting voted into office... through valid democratic elections. Bad leaders are elected everywhere, bad governments are elected, ineffective governments, corrupt governments are able to win elections. Evil nations that practice apartheid and genocide, literally, brand themselves as democracies. And in a way they are, provided you ignore the fact that they do not allow 45% of the people within the borders they defend to vote. Absolutely the wrong question is whether Syria will be able to "become a democracy." A better question is, who will lead, will they have enlightened, wise policies or not. What form of government will they have? What natural affiliations will they have. Let's ask if the country will attain stability, peace with its neighbors, whether outside countries will intervene, whether the country will have wise leadership and policies or destructive aimless leadership and policies. Possibly people ask whether the country will have democracy but what they actually cynically mean, is to what extent will the United States be able to control the country.
Perhaps the 1 million Syrians who speak the language in Germany, can set up a clearing house for claims in Syria using the phone and internet to register. Then distribute the funds at 1000 euro a month for 6 months
Whatever happens will not be as bad as the Asad family, not even close, and once the sanctions are lifted by US and Europe and the economy is improving, the country will stabilise.
The best that can be hoped for is an autocratic regime with a democratic facade under sharia that is no more abusive towards its population than Egypt or Jordan
All this talk about Syria without addressing the Gargantuan Elephant in the room which is Geopolitics. The major world powers are in a nuclear standoff and all have different interests in Syria which creates a perfect scenario for a major proxy war to break out any day now.
There is much that can go wrong. But Jolani is clearly trying to appeal to the west and that opens up the opertunety for a democratic development. If there is enough stability for the Syran diaspora in Europe to return then the ties with Europe and the sociopolitcal system of Europe will be stronger. It would also be in the intrest of any rational s Syrian goverment to get the European Syrains back because they have important educations, skills, contacts and in many cases mony. But people who have been living in Utrecht or Gothemburg or Hamburg will have surtain expections about how a government and a society should function specialy those who have grown up and lived most of lifes there. A democratic Syria is on the table but it requires that a lot of things go right.
Chances are good for Syria, as long as its government and people agree to let go their radical thinking and start to admit that ancient civilization and as well as Christianity are inseparable parts of Syrian history, of which they should embrace and restore after so much damage they've done to them.

Syria's chances for democracy and lasting peace? Virtually nil.
Correct, these clowns make me laugh when they speak about democracy about actual Syrian environment.
We Syrian people decided, it will be the miracle of the 21st century, Syria will be great nation in no time
@@82zeroxwhat do you know?! Nothing I’m Syrian and I know what’s going on in my country, keep your opinions to yourself
who know !!
With so many factions in the country, chances for democratically is as good as that in Iraq and Libya.
Not in a million years if this planet lasts that long.
So you're saying there's a chance they'll achieve it in 2 million years?
What do you know?! Nothing,
Kurds are the brightest in Syria.
Only they have presented a working system for a future Syria which Assad said no to.
Democratic votings,

No. Not anymore. You killed it.
They have chances... sure they have.
but its not likely they will forget fanatic religion and ultra corruption...

Turkey controls over 10x the square km of Syrian territory that Israel does. Israel doesn't have a Syrian proxy. Turkey does.
because it's minor. Turkey holds much more of Syrian territory
Because they all support that war criminal, they don’t want to risk being pushed away from their troughs
The world failed the Syrian people,it is now time for the world to assist Syria on their road to peace, reconciliation and reconstruction,

Democracy for Syria.
No chance.

About as much of a chance as the British Mandate after WWI.
