    AAAAAAWWW...this band has totally hooked 3 generations of my family!!! My granddaughter boogied to Meter Music in her crib, when she was 4 months old...I've been nuts over 'em since "Sophisticated Cissy" first hit the radio, & nearly 52 yrs later I'm STILL dancing(doin' "the Limp", as my son calls it. Well, at least I limp with RHYTHM...
    😲😂😎😵😱...whaddya WANT from me??? I'm freakin' OOOOOOOOOLD, maaaaan!!!)
    I cried over this video, too. They look so young...& Art was here...may he & his dear brother Charles be lifted to the highest heights a human soul can reach, in the Kingdom of the All-Loving Creator!!!
    These gifted musicians have done so much GOOD for music, for people, for our beloved New Orleans...they're truly legendary, & they'll always be heroes to me, especially since their splendid music help me raise 3 good kids, by myDURNself, in "tha Projects"!!!😵😱✌🏽😲😄
    God bless 'em forEVER--&
    a few years AFTER that.
    💙💙💙💓💓💓💚💚💚

    The Chili Peppers worship the Meters. They jammed together at Voodoo a couple of years ago. The Meters created it. The Peppers appreciated it. The first RHCP record I ever heard was on a college station around 1980. It was a very funky , but hard-rocking cover of the Gary U.S. Bonds classic "New Orleans". They were into this music from the beginning.

    RHCP Hollywood (Africa) is the same song but AK put the lyrics into his own... they still had to pay the Meters anyway.

    everyone should know how great of a musician russell batiste is and stop trying to compare him to zig. he grew up watching zig his whole life and he knows his shit. any real meters fan can hear traces of zigaboo in russell. when you grow up around that shit its embeded in you, russell is just "modernizing" it.

  • @Ungrowing

    You cant divide their style in rock and funk....They don't play just funk or just rock. They are first rate Psychedelic Sexfunk Rock band. And I consider them more versatile than any band I've heard.

  • @added23
    @added23 13 років тому

    @robbertzzzzz haha you must only hear mainstream chilis. listen to their self titled album, freaky styley, mothers milk, blood sugar sex magik..those are all funk albums. you want some funk songs by them? listen to mellowship slinky in b major, american ghost dance, brothers cup, subway to venus, out in la...the list is endless

    And this aint jazz, this is funk.

  • @getupanddosomething
    @getupanddosomething 15 років тому

    well it may be subjective, but the funny thing is that there is something that seperates the two bands: the meters are INTERESTING musically. the chili peppers are cool where they go rock the meters go JAZZ. and yes, jazz musicians are much better than rock musicians on average. and because of that, they can write much better chord progressions, have more interesting rhythms, and have more freedom to improvise. to each his own though

    You can talk all day about the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but truth be told, if it wasn't for musicians like these guys and JB's band, RHCP would have been just another good punk band. If you don't agree with that, you don't know what you're talkin' about.

    I dont think that ziggy, I think it's russell batiste jr who played with them from late 80's - 90's - a pretty incredible drummer nevertheless. I still like Ziggy better though, he has a loosey goosey vibe when playing live that just blows me away.

  • @robbertzzzzz
    @robbertzzzzz 13 років тому

    @wowprogamer1 I'm just saying that punk isn't funk. Funk is what James Brown and Tower of Power play, and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers play punk.

  • @jazkel24
    @jazkel24 15 років тому

    The vocals are probably the biggest let-down to me. Not that they're bad, but they're a bit timid. Might be a bad mix, but when the singing starts it doesn't seem like much. Livens up tho, and the last chorus is great.

  • @pretorious700

    @a1Drummer07 "Fans have accepted every RHCP album since their debut"... wtf kind of idiotic statement is that?-Celine Dion "fans" have accepted all of her shitty albums too. RHCP are a first rate rock band, but about a third rate funk band. Deal with it.

  • @BobbyA1985

    Clinton is more city funk, while the Meters are more down home Louisiana funk. I'll take the Meters over clinton and bootsy anytime! rhcp should NOT be in the same sentence as the Meters. The Meters bring something special to every show.
