ANYONE that's not digging this don't know their funk shit from their funk shinola. This is funk royalty...The masters churnin' urnin' a burnin' funk. Get outta dodge rookies. Bust out the oyster po'boys and muffalottas. Go back to Denver fool!! This is red beans and rice funk, creole gumbo funk. GREAT JOB GUYS ! TOTALLY DESATIVELY BONNEROO!!!! Yall are still the giants you always was. You fuckin proved it right here. I bow down....
The sound of my home town! I may be 68 with a terminally Caucasian pelvis, but DAMN! I dance to them every chance I get!
Hope you're still alive and kickin' - love this band!
@@1blastman I am now 76, alive, kicking, and still playing the Meters at home. Loud.
@@dancinfool2006 Great! Turn it up!!! Yeah, "If Ever I Cease To Love", became If ever I cease to live this year, but for us survivors, we are still enjoying a very cold day - at least it's not windy.
53 but I’m with ya, love my Meters!
Left Nola and promptly moved back !!!!!!! The funk brought me home 🏠!!!!!
Zigabo just hanging on the HH back there keeping the time 😎 How many of you drum dudes on here have that much patience and control 🥁
RIGHT?!
ZigBoo is the best ever come out of NOLA
🔥🔥🔥
are you still listening in march 2020
This performance is amazing

FUNKIFIE YOUR EARS!
Why do some people comment so badly about them? Do they have ears in their heads? This is simply as great as they were back in the sixties and seventies. I would like to see those stupid people play like these guys when they're 70 or more.
Earl Palmer, Zigaboo and Zutty Singleton are my Nola Drum Queens. But I do not mind if you throw your faves on me. It IS a Pantheonium of Loas and Orishas. Oh, I already have to ad Ed Blackwell and Smokey Johnson. I am quite sure you all will give US all much more.
One of the most bad ass bands that ever was, is and ever will be.
To all criticizing this performance: please form a band and define a genre.
exactly lol
We are not criticizing the band and the genre. We love both. But the evident lack of rehearsal.
@@stonelenny They don't need rehearsal they play these songs since the seventies :)
Amen. RIP Art Neville.
@@stonelenny bro.. chillax and enjoy the music
When the mc called out the names I literally had a shiver down my spine. To hear these names and know what is to come, is for a Funkateer like me HEAVEN!
Some 60 years later these legendary and BEST funky cats can still blow everything else to pieces...THIS IS IT!!!
Primus played this night at another place one minute walk away; I timed it.
The Meters are like the original War aka The Lowrider Band, they are timeless OG's. Soldiers who defined an era of black music that cannot ever be replicated.
I like to call this music "Creole Funk" - this music IS New Orleans, up from the ninth ward, four guys that grew up playing together and became one of the greatest bands in the world.
7th ward
This is greatness still extending it's greatness.. Instrumentally, simply great funk, plus the added skill acquired through years of work as only the greatest musicians can
Once you hear the Meters, they grab that funky part of your persona and won't let go. That's what happened to me in the 1970's and my life has been funkified ever since.
This is a nothing short of frickin' wonderful band. BIG LOVE.
If you don't like this superb music click on through, dudes, don't downrate The Meters.
I miss when leo chicken scratched and played the funkest rhythm with the funkest band of all time.
Damn. Magic right here in the future
🙏🦋❤️🦋🙏.
Love from the netherlands

Its really to see and hear a great group reunite with all of its ORIGINAL members ( not just some. Good work guys,.Sounds good too!
Ah yes aint that fresh, everybody wants to get down like that
Dey da' Meters! That's it. No matter what is said, dey da' Meters origin-uh line up. That's it. I've said it, my system is realized, purified, funkified now: Beautiful!
Real The Meters fans know that's not a good performance. You can see in Art's face: ua-cam.com/video/psPFhu4kKgw/v-deo.html
I hear ya, but let's cut them a little "Medicare Slack" They were all hard livin' musicians in their 60's, Art in his 70's and still getting it done. We've all seen them play better, but just to SEE and HEAR this music in 2012 and now, 2021, is a real treat.
Any of the recorded live shows from the early 70's will blow this out of the water, but I'm still lovin' this for old times sake.
Rock In Peace - Art.
one of the best funk bands ever
who the fuck gives this a thumbs down RIP Art
Revenge of the rhythm section!
Dios mío que es esto? una webonada de GROOOOOVE
The most incredible funk band of the planet
That’s undisputed truth !
@@christophelucetdallongevil6323 where to next if I'm enjoying these guys?
How has it been since they last played? They are not supposed to sound like 40 years ago. They sound very good together now.
Was blessed 2 see LEO nocentilli in San Francisco in the nineties! With Freebo on Bass !❤✌
What an Excellent concert 🙌
How the fuck can you Not Like this? The solo by Leo in Africa is such a aural pleasure. Have loved his tone since hearing Cissy Strut 1st time in 1970 in Detroit on radio, don't recall if it was WABX or W4. It was tonally different from what I heard as a kid on AM Detroit radio in 60's. Life long Meters fan.
So blessed to be born n raised in Nola the music 🎶 I was raised on in my House was nothing but funk from the Meters to Dr John to the Batiste family the list goes on and on !!!!
DEFINITION OF "TRAVESTY": This band is not in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Yeah The Meters, Little Feat, Savoy Brown and Spirit all belong, but so what we still have this master piece to enjoy.
Nominate!
Saw them on the Loyola Quad for TGIF
it's like a 47 minute variation of the cissy strut.......
the funk is gittin all over everythang
the SHIT. Greatest Of All Time
RIP poppa funk
@griffin6933 translate to English, I'm dying. Of course when I first moved to NO, I often wished for a Yat to Yankee translator.
The Meters play extraordinary music!!!! What talent!!!
Leo has a neat Scofield tone for this show. Much different from the old days. So happy to see the same energy no matter how old they get or how much time they take off....
NOLA Funk pioneers!
Wish they had multiple camera's at this show. Damn shame.
doesn't matter what color your pelvis as long as it is getting funky!
This that N O Funk💪
What? No Cissy Strut? Damn! LOL! The rest is great though!
Naw O'leans Funk at it's best.
Mr. Porch - With all due respect, what the heck makes you an expert on funk? Stick to the originals and stay home with your stereo headphones and 6 pack of Bud Light. We real fans don't want you in the House when these cats are laying it down - you're just stealing the air anyway you. I would have been thrilled to be at this show, as would any real fan of this music. Please - stay home!
God I was playing with all this in me..hear it?..and created a very unique mix of this with rock influence...Mr.Moon..7 years on the road..I now can see ,really see what it came from..love the Meters.Zigaboo!!
I would have cried right there while listening to the first notes.
Jesus Samaniego I almost cried when Art announced his retirement in December. The Meters are no more.
the real deal, the original Meters --- simply INCREDIBLE!
Mr. Zig and George. Appreciate yall's kindness
Masters of laid back funk!!!
just awesome
LEO!
The real "thang." Blessings upon you for sharing this brother.
Greatest under rated/overlooked band of all time. Wish I could've been there but this is awesome! Thanks!
thank you so much! we need da funk!
HAPPY 85TH POPPA FUNK!!!
What a great show that was... first club show of the originals in 30 years, honored to have been there.
Oh man, that's pretty amazing to see that they are back again :-)) Hope to see ya soon in Europe here. You guys are welcome !!!!!!
I saw them in 74, when they were strung out, on the road and not selling records - or tickets. About a dozen people in the joint called Tulagi’s in Boulder. Unforgettable.
They are so cool, even Amazonas could freeze. 8)
These guys are the OG funksters
tops....
Just saw the 50th anniversary Meters Tribute with George Porter, Leo and Ivan and Tony Hall in NOLA one of the nights of Jazzfest...they are STILL crushing it...
These guys rip! So glad to have you back!
the 20 idiots who gave the I do not like are deaf thanks TheFunkItBlog for the awesome group video

So good

Does anybody have the mp3 of the whole show?
If you liked this, go check their live jam with the Chili Peppers, it's pure funk
I'm so happy now. Good Time Music, down in New Orleans!

omg I went to the hotel before they started cause I was so tired after jazz fest, regrets ............
gotta love you sweetheart!
Damn was I there? Hard to tell I’ve seen them more times than I can count in one form of the Meters or another
I’ve seen them over 100 times The Meters , the original Meters , The Funky meters !!!!! The original Meters shreds them all
Awesome! Thanks
Not quite true over 30 years. - They played 2 nights at Tips in December, 1983. So there.

Great Meters ...
I can hear echoes of early little feat in "fire on the bayou"
rugbygirlsdad The Meters pre-date Little Feat by four years. You’re hearing echoes of the Meters in Little Feat, not the other way around.

what's the name of the second song?
When they finally hit ‘em with the first “fii-yooo on the bayou” I got chills
to me one of the most important parts of music history!🤩🤩🤩
I've heard so many of their bands- I'm going to see the Funky Meters on Saturday- but there is just nothing like the real thing. The energy that the five of them generate together is amazing. I saw the Meters about 20 times back in the day, and this video really captures what I remember.
