I’m blown away that so many people are offended by the words the younger generation use to describe their lives but not at the fact that this is the life they live. I get their dedication to their people, the hopelessness, knowing how this will end is heartbreaking 💔

Ricky was real with himself, at such a young age, when most young people care too much about what their peers think of them.
If he only had the opportunity to leave that environment and follow what he his mind was telling him, he would have been an amazing man and mentor. Ricky 's letters told of his true thoughts and his heart. He was too kind and loveing, he had no business in any gang and had his father been present in his life, Ricky would have been able to become who the man he should have became.
People look at L.A but not the home of Disneyland...the Essa's used to be CRAZY banging in OC in the 80s/90s...smh..and still today to a certain degree....

I was wondering the same thing- I was 16 that year, hopefully these guys survived and found a better way. They'd be in their mid-40s now.

What I'm frequently observing is that the root of every troubled kid's problem is the absence of a true father. For most, not all, that has walked down the wrong road toward their end, the arrow always points back to the father not being there.
