Man I remember in 2007 buying this from the Book fair as a 7 year old not gonna lie this lowkey messed up my head alot of adult fiction characters in the book Wich led me to looking up who most of these people where If you ask me idk what scholastic was doin promoting horror to little kids smh still a good book
Known the history or mythology behind 'monsters' can help some kids put things into perspective. Once something is known, it can be less scary. I read voraciously as a child (I'm still s reader at 59). Reading fantasy led me to history and philosophy. Reading sci-fi lead me to science. I still love monsters.
I... really cannot understand the dislikes. I mean, it is just a book presentation. If you close your eyes and just listen, it is just monster or villain names from myths or literature or the movies, with some comments here and there. Not really that much for someone to dislike.
tetsubo57 Well, I still think it’s a great book. Besides Quasimodo, Sleipnir and the Ziz Bird are the only probable mistakes, since they may be monsters, but not villains in the slightest.
Had this book before I read and watched LoTR, so I never knew how to pronounce the villains and monsters from LoTR in this book. I thought it was Lord Saw-Ron, not Sow-ron. Or I thought it was Shell-ob, not She-lobe Ah, young naive 11 year old me.
Correct because Quasimodo had his friends the stone gargoyles from the Disney 1996 animated film the hunchback of Notre Dame and the 2002 Disney animated sequel the hunchback of Notre Dame 2
This was one of my favorite childhood books along with the cryptids one.

I love your reviews!

I have a dedicated group of haters that are subscribed just so they can dislike my videos.
tetsubo57 It makes me unreasonably happy to see mature people like them eveywhere.

I think we are close to an age when you will disable the comments
@@tetsubo57 Did you say "wife?"
@@krystalthesquirrel4973 Quite possibly. I mention my wife in many of my videos. Why do you ask?
I like Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th.
I dressed as a serial killer inspired by him a few years ago for Halloween.
I agree. Quasimodo is NOT a villain! Did Mccall even read the novel or watch any of the movies??!?!?
I think the authors are taking a 'anything ugly or odd is evil' stance.
tetsubo57 Well, I still think it’s a great book. Besides Quasimodo, Sleipnir and the Ziz Bird are the only probable mistakes, since they may be monsters, but not villains in the slightest.
Which monkeys don't really fly they swing from tree to tree 😊
Thank you for posting this. Now I don't have to track this book down or anything like that just to refresh my memory of it.
4:48 - Fluffy!
Hey who remembers Jason from Friday 13th
I just picked up a copy of Jason vs Freddy.
Had this book before I read and watched LoTR, so I never knew how to pronounce the villains and monsters from LoTR in this book.

Ah, young naive 11 year old me.
i wish to have this book
Trifid was probably from Little shop of horrors
Day of the Triffid, the novel, came out in 1951. Little Shop of Horrors came out in 1960.
I didn't know there was a novel on the Triffid. So I assumed it was from Little shop of horrors
Creature from the Black Lagoon it's name Gill-man
They forgot to add one more monster
Godzilla
That's in the "Mythical Monsters" book.
Where can i find this book and the mythical creature one ?
I see them at thrift shops and the Amazon secondary market.
@@tetsubo57 thanks
@@tetsubo57 How much "Mordred" do you need? 😂
Nice glare
I liked Quasimodo from the Hunchback of Notre Dame.
Me too, because Quasimodo has his closest friends, the stone gargoyles
Nazgul or Ringwraith
Where’s ghost face and where’s chunky and Freddy and
What No Godzilla?
They put out several volumes of these. Godzilla made at least one of them.
Dont people know the shark is not called jaws but bruce.
Childhood
Nosferatu it's name Count Orlok
Monster And Villains Part 2
Movie Monster
Typhon
DekaBaseRobo
I don't see a singleRepublican! BOOOO!
Are the flying monkeys from the wizard of Oz!
I believe they are.
The Siren one was GROSS!!!
I'd prefer the fish one
Quasimodo Heroes or Villains
I consider him the hero of the story.
HOLY SHIT WHY IN THE FUCKING WORD IS QUASIMODO A MONSTER?
Apparently having a birth defect makes one a monster. Imagine being a kid with a birth defect reading that passage.
Quasimodo was heroes
Correct because Quasimodo had his friends the stone gargoyles from the Disney 1996 animated film the hunchback of Notre Dame and the 2002 Disney animated sequel the hunchback of Notre Dame 2
Anyone know where I can get this? And the mythical monsters
I just posted a comment on your channel.
Why isn't the American Republican in this book? What the hell?
