Fun fact about Mapinguari: Its said in the Brazilian Folklore that the indigenous peoples belived that the Mapinguari was a evolution to the human, like:
You are a human, and (they belived) that, when you come to a certain age, you would evolve into a Mapinguari
Alguns dizem que a lenda do mapinguari surgiu com o encontro dos humanos com os megatérios e que com o tempo a lenda foi mudando até ficar como conhecemos

I'm Mexican, my grandma had a soursop tree in her yard and she would say the Chaneques liked to hang out in the soursop trees and that's why we would find half eaten soursop fruits on the ground during soursop season, Thanks for including the Chaneques on the list, it brought me fond memories from my childhood.

So, everyone has cool stuff like monsters and demons
And here in France we have a big snail
Is that why you keep on serving Escargot?
I have a hatred for demons.
Don't forget the tarrasque a Kaiju size lion with six legs a turtle shell and a scorpion tail

In Northen Italy, we have lots of mythical creatures, like the "Drago Tarantasio"; it is a snake-dragon with only a pair of paws, it eats children and brings the "Yellow Fever". The legend says it was born from the corpse of a worrior who used to wall up the prisoners and gouing out the eyes of the children.
Wow!!
Jeez, Italy, you got some problems, LOL.

Im from Poland and when you were talking about Strzyga you mixed actually two monsters: Strzyga is originally a vampire like creature who jumps out of the grave at night hungry for human meat. About the owl part you probably meant Buka (i don’t mean the one from Moomin): which was a demon that when everybody in the house where asleep flew to children’s room to scare the kids and mentally hurt them.
Could the one from moomin shape shift or go into dreams.
Strzyga looks like a "águila arpía" from Latinoamerica.

Now I'm interested, let's all introduce more folklore creatures from our countries/cultures
In Argentina, in the northern parts, there is the 'Pombero', an evil dwarf who's also super strong. If you're walking alone through some forest or plane and you hear a particular whistle calling you, you should not look on its direction because it's the Pombero taunting you, and if you take his bait he'll beat you to death.
Also, families on the north sometimes leave cigarettes or some alcohol on their doorsteps as an offering to the Pombero, because it's believed that if you don't share those goods with him, he'll abduct your children.
Hello Canko, that's well explained. Pombero is one of many Guarani myths here in Paraguay too, so it is always interesting for me that we share some cultural elements between Northern Argentina and Southwestern Brazil, for example. Saludos desde acá bro 🤙
We have something somewhat similar in Brazil, it's called Curupira, he is portrayed as a dwarf or a kid with fire for hair and his feet are turned backwards. He lives in the forest and causes people to get lost.
Además del pombero que lo compartimos con Paraguay y Brasil, tmb tenemos a la luz mala que creo que es más del sur y cerca de Chile, que es 1 fantasma del campo o bosque que sale de noche y te persigue.
Speaking of dwarf like creature in Italy there is this legend not well known about this being called foglionco, with the ability to shapeshift into a piece of paper....if someone pass on the road and Pick the piece from the ground foglionco will transform back and catch you
Hey, that’s just a normal Colombian citizen!
The image of Dokkaebi, the Korean goblin is closer to a Japanese Oni. Dokkaebi are actually known as benevolent trickster spirits tied to meaningful objects that occasionally take the shape of a human.
All of these creatures have unique names...
Then there's America. *B I G F O O T*
Bigfoot has an big foot.
Get it?
Filipino here. Manananggal literally means "[one] who removes" (because they remove babies from pregnant mothers). USA's is not really weird, and I'mma give'm some slack.
@@ralphanthonyespos9417 i think manananggal means one who removes their torso, not one who removes babies. At least, that's what I always hear.
chupacabra in portuguese(at least, brazilian portuguese) is "goat sucker"
"Su İyesi" literally means "The possessor of water"
I've heard rumors that the Chupacabra has been discovered and it's only a deformed coyote. Nothing supernatural about it.
Also, what could a snail monster do? Everyone knows how slow snails are.
It's very scary don't judge ! 🤣😅
To be honest, in France our monsters aren't really scary , but there are surely really weird

@@sandycifuentes4335 bro maybe they used fusion dance hahahaha
@@sandycifuentes4335 It could be based on Tlahuelpuchi, an Aztec Vampire that left their legs at home and flew without a bottom half and had a preference for the blood of newborns and children.
Fun fact: Vampire comes from Serbian folklore.
Also, in Serbian people, if you really piss off a person, they say "I will drink your blood!" or if someone made you feel stressed and tired "He/She drank/sucked off all my blood!'
I just really find it funny bcs it's kind of a proof that vampires are indeed from there.

I feel like if you mentioned the trolls in the Norse mythology, it would be more recognized. Becouse trolls are the most popular mythological creatures in the Norwegian folklore.
They dwell in the mountains or caves, and can’t be exposed to sunlight - otherwise they turn to stone. Trolls can be really big creatures, and they are extremely old, very strong, but they are slow and dim-witted. They like to eat ‘grøt’ which is a Norwegian dish that is a type of rice porridge.

5:47 In Indonesia, we also have a mythological creature similar to manananggal, but in Indonesia it is usually called "kuyang", the name of this creature is different in each region, especially in Manado where I am, we call it "pok-pok", because the sound of the sign the presence of this creature whose voice sounds like "pok pok pok", roughly like the sound of a chicken, some say that this sound is caused by the sound of its organs colliding with each other, some say too, the farther the sound, the closer the sign so is the creature. The appearance of the pok-pok/kuyang is even more terrifying, where only the head is flying, with the internal organs flying with the head, and the organs are directly visible. According to folklore, pok-pok/kuyang roam in the middle of the night looking for pregnant women and stealing the babies that are in their stomachs. The babies stolen by Pok-Pok/Kuyang will be eaten, by eating the babies, surely the power of Pok-Pok/Kuyang's black magic will be stronger. The story about this creature is still believed by many people in my area, especially the parents. After all, many stories similar to this creature can be found in Malaysia, Thailand, and others.

@@matthewtolentino5141 Yes I am.
Kapre is more like a Tree Spirit than a bigfoot.
Duwende too I’m a Filipino by the way
@@ralphalejandro7210 Duende is actually a Spanish mythical creature. Duende in Spanish literally means "elf" or house elf in some parts of Spain.
0:24 That looks so much like the Lorax, maybe it took inspiration from it?
Well, there is no exact appearance of Domovoy (i think), only some details repeating: Small man, Mostly defined as eldritch, Will punish you if you don't give good care to your house (it's name comes from word "Дом" (Dom) which means house) or to your Domovoy (lol)
Opo si Lorax yan
6:56 Traditional DOKKAEBI is said to have been like a tall (generally) handsome man rather than looking like this. DOKKAEBI in the video was created when Korea was briefly occupied by Japan in the past.(Have you heard about "ONI" in Japan?) Now, this fact is well known in Korea, and the appearance of the existing traditional DOKAEBI is reviving. In addition, they have many magic tools, and the most representative are "DOKKAEBI bat" and "DOKKAEBI hat." The bat is used to perform magic, and when you wear a hat, the person you wear and the object you are holding become transparent. DOKKAEBI is created by changing objects that are used for a long time or stained with blood, so some rural areas still never put things such as brooms. This is because it can turn into a DOKKAEBI.
The most popular creature in estonian mythology is kratt which is a being created from various household items, you have to give it a task (it can bring you gold and complete household chores), if you dont give it a task then it will strangle you and only know way to defeat it is to give it an impossible task, then it will explode
