This just got recommended to me. I remember a lack of this specific video for this game when I was trying to learn (~10 months ago), and so thanks for making it!
This was certainly a good tool. At this stage in fighting games, despite having so much history with them that dates all the way back to childhood, I'm only now really finding my stride in them. I've crammed much of the theory, but still struggle finding the perfect character to fit my hands, so to speak. I tended to just play whatever for the longest time, so I have an ecclectic taste in characters, which is a problem when trying to actually learn the game. In games like Under Night, I quite literally shift between half the cast regularly and while I can argue my "Mains" are narrowed down to about 3 characters at this point, this was 3 months in the making and the characters themselves aren't exactly cosistent between one another in terms of mechanics. In Xrd, this similar issue followed, where I've been shifting between Zato-1, Axl, Sin, Ky, Dizzy and my sub from my XX days, Slayer. Every time I go to lab or combo-challenges, I'm playing a very different game depending on the character I feel like trying to nail down today, which doesn't really help me in trying to learn gameplay fundamentals when I'm snagging on character-specific mechanics. This would all have been fine if Zappa came back in this game. Preferred playstyle be damned, Zappa was easily the most entertaining character in XX to me and I would be the happiest man alive if I could just see him in Strive. For the time being though, I think I have a good idea on what I wanna start focusing on. Axl and Sin have been my most successful experiments, so I'm keeping a hold on them, but I'm gonna add May, I-No and Elphelt into my list of considerations, with alot of hope for May and Sin to become my primary mains with maybe an Axl sub-game (What can I say? I love chargers).
This was an amazing video and did a lot to inform me as a newcomer, but being that every character in the game looks incredibly fun in their own way, I still don't think the task ahead of me of choosing a character will be easy. This did help a lot though. Well anyway, I'm off to play me some GG, I'll probably just stick to someone easy and straighforward to start.
I actually picked I-no, Elphelt, and Venom as my mains cause my dad is currently a popular Musician (Bassist) and a really good billiards player, and my brother really likes FPS and is attending Criminology or Police studies, and I have a really great fascination with guns.
Thanks a lot, man! Good explanations, very straight-forward. Thanks to you, I'm already learning Axl, and I got my list of other possible mains ready to use!
This game is probably the only fighting game in wich i have multiple favorite characters, those being Millia, Kum, I-No, Jhonny, Bedman, Faust and Jack-O' Oh and also Raven, Slayer, Venom and Zato=1 I really love the characters in Guilty Gear XrdRev2
Quick question, how do you unlock the black outfits with the blue glowing elements? I spent the World Dollars for Sin's extra alts but that one doesn't show up.
I think Strive Ramlethal really focused on the big buttons and neutral control that Xrd Ram has a bit of. There's a player named NuklearPapaya who plays Xrd Ram unlike most of the setplay monster stuff you'll see other Rams play. I recommend watching a few of his matches just to see what it's like.
Thank you for this! I've been trying to decide on a character for about a week since Ive gotten back into the game. I've managed to narrow it down to 3 characters and this has been insightful!
