    ? My builder tells me to ditch my b20vtec and build ls VTEC why is b18 block better

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  Рік тому +3

      That’s a common misconception, as way back it was claimed cuz the b20 has siamed sleeves meaning the steel part is merged together they say it causes cracks but I’m also a tuner since 2008
      and I know cracked sleeve is 98% on the tune and 2% fuel to be blamed
      Not saying your builder is wrong but we got a b20vtec running 12.5s on pump gas not e85 no trailer a pure street car and it’s been running since 2017 :)

    How do you cut open the manifold for porting? Are you using the dremel for cutting with what kind of cutting blade? How do you put them back together? Tig weld?

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  2 роки тому +2

      oh hey sorry for the late reply... nice comment now it gives me an idea that maybe one of the future vids we show cutting it 🤣
      believe it or not 90% of the cut is using a hand saw with a steel blade for cutting steel (hss) aka "lagaring bakal"
      my angle grinder as a thick disk the usual ones? so it cute tooo wide so wat i do is i use the angle grinder as "starter" to get the edge started then switch to hand saw... believe it or not since its aluminum? it cuz not as hard as if it was steel... though not as easy as wood 🤣
      yes Tig weld it shut after... 90% of the time we clean off the welds and prep the details of the outside so its "mukhang stock" lol

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  Рік тому +2

      on D B and H it depends I mean if the set up needs it… like for example if the set up is on Pro3 cams and it’s still “needing” a bit more? As can be seen on the dyno then yep it will help…
      But let’s say anything mild the stock valve size is good for big numbers as it is

      That would be okay to try but if a Bseries stock sized valve 33mm is good for 308-310cfm then the H22 with bigger valves should top higher than that… and so with that we know unless it’s topping up at 310whp then stock valve size is still okay, safer on P2v and v2v too

    Any advice for boost ?or does these apply aswell

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  2 роки тому +3

      Oh yes yes only different on boost is pistons choices
      But it definitely applies and it’s prolly what some don’t share and what most don’t know?
      Why we see two engines make 350whp
      But one engine does it at 30psi
      The other only at 21psi cuz of efficiency
      Il vote the lower boost cuz less stress

      Yeah the piston in itself is around 290-295grams the Pin I have not yet weight but yes we do weigh all 4 pistons and match all 4pins together :)
      Later in the day maybe I can test weigh one piston to reply here…

    How much hp did you get on this build?

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  Рік тому +2

      Hello…this hasn’t been fully assembled/finished as the owner has a newborn now so we know how that goes 😂
      but this is an easy 240-245whp pump gas as in 2018 we did a similar but with non forged pistons (1Up) and we got 235whp on full exhaust with a chambered muffler.
      Interestingly a hatchback
      That does 225WHP (Jasper’s) is a 12.5sec set up on pump gas (Blaze)
      While earlier on (on Wiseco pistons) we did 233whp and that hatchback ram 12.1sec

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  2 роки тому +1

      Back then (parts were acquired before this pandemic… around 2019-2020)
      Was around $1,500-2,000
      Granted that was including the actual head this is being built from the ground up
      But some b16 owners or gsr owners may have it cheaper a bit since they got a cylinder head already
