Me and partner have an L320 and found you guys quite early on our journey. After being plagued with a few issues she's coming back as a camper for us and our rottweiler. We've loved the parts we've had and you're videos and hope that the old cars don't get forgotten as I still love my 2006 RRS HSE. Harder to find parts but we have adapted a few things ourselves so love watching a channel like this. Keep it up guys . Happy couple here .... :-😊
Sounds like buying the Utility Strip with the pre drilled holes make life much easier. Plus you keep the original aluminium waist line strip unmolested.
The square washers from Landrover will work if you follow their instructions, by cutting the vertical slot above the 19mm hole; much easier than the suggestion to file the square washers round? Following the original OEM designers instructions would be far easier than creating more work, the installation kit was very straightforward when I did this.
Interesting video Simon..... but does the newly installed sandwich box effect the rear vision from the exterior drivers mirror???? It appears that the sandwich box stands out from the body of the vehicle by nearly 200mm.... or 8 inches in old English..... regards Ian 👨🎤🇳🇿
It does, so you'll have the same problem we have in the UK 🇬🇧. I mounted by box on the nearside. It looks just fine, but the fit isn't great because the fixing arms are designed for the right side.
I am one of those anxiously awaiting the Molle Plate for the 90 you currently have under development. Fingers crossed that you will also provide a predrilled spare or replacement waist rail with the kit so that the original can be kept in pristine condition for reinstallation if and when one might wish to later remove the Molle plate. 🤞
WARNING! Do not tighten the bottom fixing bolts to 38nm. I have painful experience of these aftermarket boxes. The bolt will almost certainly shear off in the car. Any idea where to buy replacement bolts?!
@@L663Simon…I just wonder about fixing the box on the near side and the risk of clouting something or somebody on the pavement with it. I’m thinking parking sign poles mainly but in narrow pavement situations, might the box be a bit dangerous hence why JLR puts them on the offside?? I’m not sure about the boxes..it looks bare without them but could they be a nuisance and also attract the attention of thieves?? Could a thinner box be an option…less practical but you get the look without the motor cycle pannier effect?? Hmm….🤔🤔🙂🫢🫢
Simon, there's another problem with fitting the box on the nearside. It doesn't fit great 😕. I have a phev model X and wanted the box on the nearside for a couple of reasons - one, because it gives clear site on the most used rear mirror, and because I keep my charging cable next to the charging socket. The arms lengths can't be reversed (as you've discovered), and so the fit is not perfect. I have got it mounted on the nearside, and now I live in hope that you'll offer a set of 'reversed' arms for nearside mounting .... PLEEEEESE 😊
@powerfulukltd new product idea ... can you build good pice of CNC milled alloy utility rail (similar to utility tail used in two sides of Ineos Grenadier) which can be attached to both side of those bolts ..so that we can fit anything anywhere by attaching those to utility rail and roof rail ..no more plastic drilling ..clean and looks nice
I'm not sure if you watch Petrol Ped's videos but he's only been and got his Dream Car: 70th Anniversary Edition Defender 90. Watch that and you'll be "green" with envy! He also plays your theme tune at the end so it must be a generic tune for UA-cam videos.
@@L663 Brutus is in for his 2 year service.... Seems 😆 that for them to turn off the service light you need to do the whole Monty! Also having some small warranty work and that one factory recall also! Will keep you posted. Other news he had screen #8 fitted a week or so ago! Trying now for a world record. This screen is the new after market one available now in the US of course the price is the same as OEM !!!
Entertaining, as always, Simon but that free-hand drilling was 'orrible; did I not espy a pillar drill at the rear left of your workshop? I really do not understand why someone would buy a nicely designed car and then want to strap lunchboxes, handbags, suitcases, etc. to the outside of it 😕.

It’s a good job Destiny is there with you Simon to check you’ve got things right 👍
More than you would imagine !

We are close to releasing the molle plate for the 90
Are you likely to do any more off road accessories for the FL 2 like the Molle Plate etc?
Lovely job Simon 👍👍👍👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks Jimmy

You could use some of these to reduce the thread to M6 and then just use an M6 bolt and spacer ?

Great video Simon and Destiny, 1 question, how much less can you see out of the door mirrors ??
Good question - its not too bad - i will have to take a picture !

OK let me look at this - maybe we can weld up an adaptor plate.
@L663 my car has so many of your bits on it, I'm not sure I should still call it a Landrover Defender anymore 🤩

You need the box with smelly cheese !
Sorry about the drilling !
Watched this with interest then realised it was Gear Box, not Gearbox…was expecting to see oily cogs!

Land Rover British built but have set it up for anywhere other than the UK 😂 standard Land Rover always keeping you guessing
you can have the ladder both sides... but not the lunch box !
Going to play this in reverse to figure out how to take mine off. It's such a hideous looking thing.
Interesting spelling in your use name....enjoy the video in reverse !
