0:00 "Bayerischer Defiliermarsch" (Bavarian Parade March) by Adolf Scherzer
1:23 "König-Karl-Marsch" (King Karl March) by Carl Ludwig Unrath
    2:22 "Bayerischer Defiliermarsch" again
    3:26 "König-Karl-Marsch" again
4:28 "Kreuzritter-Fanfare" (Crusaders Fanfare) by Richard Henrion
Only the "Bayerischer Defiliermarsch" was existing in 1864, when Ludwig II became King, but wasn't very famous yet at that time. The other two marches were composed years later and are not Bavarian marches at all - King Karl was King of Württemberg, and the "Kreuzritter-Fanfare" is a Prussian march from the 1890ies.

This was the only film with Romy Schneider that she redid her Sissi, role but this time more mature and older. Committing adultery with her cousin Ludwig, who was by-sexual. He was very talented and I do not believe he wanted to be a King. Somewhat of a Revolutionist before his time. There is a newer Ludwig II that was made in 2012. Not bad, but this one took the cake!

First and most haughty in it was the mother of Ludwig and Otto. The two hated her passionately, and likely with excellent reason. She and her husband Maximilian II were cold and uncaring and, most uncommunicative with their boys. As to her fate, you can consult history; as to his, we know.

@@jamesmiller4184 In a way, yes; it was his way of escaping from the modern real world. He himself admitted that he was born in the wrong age, that he would have been better off serving as king during the medieval era. Back in those days, kings were held sacred and wielded real power, as opposed to being mere figureheads. He had a romantically idealized view of kingship ("chivalry") which didn't quite square with the world he had the 'misfortune' to be born into. He came to the throne too early, when not yet 19 years old, ill-prepared to succeed a father he had loathed and feared, but whose death he didn't wish for (since that meant he would be king, something he didn't look forward to). He suffered a major political setback when Bavaria lost the war in 1866 between Prussia and Austria, thereby watching his beloved kingdom turn into a mere vassal state within the new German empire, where the Prussian king got crowned emperor. He disappointed his subjects by failing to give them a new queen (he broke off his engagement to his cousin Sophie, Duchess in Bavaria) and producing heirs to the throne. He was forced to part with his beloved friend Richard Wagner, perceived to be a pernicious influence on the young king. All these frustrations and disappointments in his life made him want to escape from reality and immerse himself in a dream world. Hence, the fantastic fairy tale castles which turned out to be his ultimate downfall.

It’s like male bird trying to seduce female all dressed up, or beggar(real poor man) trying to disguise into something more important😬. Such ravishing act was always considered bad taste amongst our fashionable nobles....

    • @GFSLombardo

Italian films that are exported to other countries are usually dubbed vs sub-titled. So when shown in Italy the actors speak Italian. When the film is shown in Germany they "magically" speak German, In France, French, in UK /USA, English, in Spain/Mexico, Spanish, etc. They have been doing it this way for generations. Of course, its a violation of historical truth-ITS A MOVIE-ITS ALL PHONY!
