The best film about Ludwig ever made. The costumes are perfect - historically correct! It is so rare to find a movie with such a love for details!
Genau.
La beauté , l'élégance de Romy Schneider qui glisse comme un cygne noir dans ce décor insensé , portée par la musique de Wagner ! Seul Visconti pouvait mettre en images avec autant de brio ce moment de grâce....
a great film. a real masterpiece. the one and only film about Ludwig. Helmut Berger is just fantastic. Romy Schneider superbe.
The excess is incredible. ..must have been a very lonely man..building so much to disguise some interior lack?..
Pretty much, Secret is that Ludwig was in love with his cousin, Sissi. She never returned his love. No wonder the deep seeded Anxiety and depression, that he put all his attention to building. This movie has that kissing scene between Ludwig and Sissi. That is one heck of a lip lock for what the Historians consider His apparent homosexuality. Which I never believed. In a book I read said that Ludwig had affairs with women, that produced illegitimate children. Another reason for his night time escapades. Why he slept during the day. Entire evenings making love to women. This movie even attributes to his giving Large sums of money to women who who had a pretty face and nice figure. Prostitution maybe. Besides he inherited his behavior from his grandfather who was dethroned. There's more to Ludwig than what historians have revealed, in my estimated guess.
@@sabrinanascimento5248 I believe he was a gay man who had a platonic love for Sissi.
It looks like a documentary. Cool.
Well done. The best movie of King Ludwig I I. Excellent actors. Perfect Locations, etca.
Sublime!

I tried to find about it too and couldn't. Sounds like Lizst, but at the end of the movie they say they used an unpublished piece of Wagner, his last piece for piano dedicated to Cosima. It's beautiful. About time someone posted this sequence of Ludwig on UA-cam. I think it's the best scene on this movie.
Still a mystery this beautiful music we hear, I'm convinced it's from Chopin, if anyone anyday finds out, I'd be delighted to learn the title !
@@hansknappertsbusch5081 you just ended a several years research, thank you so much !
Could you please tell me the name of the piano music we hear at the beginning of the scene?
good morning
at 5:00 she looks like a black swan.
@mpjrdldn Yes, she is. The cost of them was why Ludwig was deposed
@mpjrdldn Yes, It took years for these places to be built, so elaberate were they and very expensive into the bargain.
Recherche le nom du compositeur et le titre de la sonate pour piano illustrant le début de la scène. Merci
Does anyone find this wonderful piano sonate ? I looked up everywhere
@Hans Knappertsbusch Thank you very much ! I listened to them in another video after your information :-)

Ludwig was a mixure of a phantom of the opera and a repress homosexual.
Ludwig never ever met Franz Liszt. Liszt was too swan way.
They may never had met personally; but Liszt once conducted a performance of a Wagner opera, while visiting Munich. He noticed the king sitting in the royal box with Sophie, and noted that "he hardly looked like an ardent lover."
@mpjrdldn Well after.
Wagner
tristanoartu I think Richard Wagner was a Narcissist and used Ludwig and abused him , mentally and emotionally and psychologically. He had no support since Sissi left. His brother was in an Asylum, his mother was no help to him, she was always indifferent to him, he was all alone so he retreated from reality in Neuschwanstein.
@@sabrinanascimento5248 he sought out Wagner.
@Hans Knappertsbusch Mille mercis, cela fait des années que je cherche le nom de ce morceau !
