This song and Untitled #2 from his solo debut feel like a showcase of the style that John fully adopted after rejoining RHCP. The choruses and overdubs also sound quite Josh-y.
John is a true example of less is more. For you newbies starting out on guitar on your journey when you learn to suit to the song its needs look back on this tune as a fine example. Flea holds the fort down and John peppers just what is needed. What an awesome band always.

Daniel Reverter The fact is that there are no version of this song as a multitrack. This was done using some effects like vocal remover on an audio software by someone else. For some song it works for others doesn’t. In this case it worked but the basslines are not there. The best thing someone can do is to pick up a bass and record over it. :D
@@RedHotBSSM Well you have no idea how grateful I am for the bass 'unfortunately' not being there. This is EXACTLY what I needed for busking, just to add vocals and play the bass live! Thanks!
Pretty sure it’s a strat because there s a small video of John recording this song with a strat. Also I have never seen John with a tele before 1999. Last, I think he used a jaguar for the overdubs (and the solo)
He used the DOD steroid chorus and an mxr dyna comp on this track if you watch the documentary funky monks you see him use them during the recording of BSSM
There’s some nice slide playing on “Scar Tissue.”I just played the slide on a Telecaster into my Fender Showman amp. My favorite slide guitarist is Snake Finger. His influence isn’t evident on the song, but that’s how I practice slide: from playing along with him and Jimmy Page. “Soul to Squeeze” [Chili Peppers’ single from the Coneheads soundtrack, recorded during the BloodSugar sessions] has slide, too. That was a Gibson lap-steel, and I wasn’t playing it with a slide, I was using a spice jar.
You are crazyyy dude. Tell me there's no feeling or soul in Don't Forget Me Live at Reading, the studio version wasn't great and yet there I literally tear up to his playing
@@ricardofont4395 I'm glad you like their new music. I've really tried to like songs from their new albums and listened to them a lot. They just don't do it for me.
As good as this truely is, it really is the bass that carries this song
How how did this gem end up on the coneheads soundtrack?
I dunno but i wish it could be totally disassociated from that goofy shit tho
With u guys on that!
You guys are nuts! Coneheads is a classic and Farley in the video makes up for John's absence, that was a weird time for them when he quit!

@@enkidude why?
3:38 is the best
It’s so addictive for some reason
I feel the guitar parts on this song are very representative of what John would do on Californication
or by the way,
i feel like this is classic bssm lol

Classic bssm to me is funky, like give it away or if you have to ask.
@@michaeldecker8853 right. In fact it was recorded as part of BSSM recording sessions, then published apart as a single. ;)

Chad is awesome too
Awesome. I nice to be able to practice the bassline
what do i have to pay you to have another version with everything but Anthony's vocals????? gotta have those sweet basslines!

10x man !
I believe the Solo is doubled up with him playing with and without a slide... but am I hearing each part played an octave apart!?
is this a strat or a tele???? can't tell

Is frusciante only using chorus and little bit of overdrive for the solo?
yeah just a touch of the CE-1. He uses way more of it when they play it live though
He used the DOD steroid chorus and an mxr dyna comp on this track if you watch the documentary funky monks you see him use them during the recording of BSSM
Either CE-1 or DOD FX65 but slide sounds double-tracked in addition to chorus to me
he uses a slide as well
Chorus and Booster
why they quit this song for the album????
john is god
where's the art from!?
These are 4 alternate images taken by Gus Van Sant, not used for the album cover.
Wow. Where did you get them?
Richie Whoa type on google "Blood Sugar Sex Magik Artwork"
Richie Whoa aren’t they in the BSSM CD case booklet?
How many bass players here?? lmL
Right here my man!
How about to play along with it!
I hope y’all realize how important Flea is to the group
I'm pretty sure that chad played the slide bits
lol John said in an interview he played them with a pepper jar

Carry Me Home is better than any song they've done since the 1990s. Especially live, it sounds like a Hendrix cover.
sounds trash without the bass, i love playing this on bass
