I think I’m seeing a lot of Kelly Griffin cultivars in your collection which is cool. Here in SoCal we have a lot of aloe kings and queens. If you’re ever in the area you should look up Debra Lee Baldwin. She has a mature collection of aloes and tons of other rare succulents. Thank you for these aloe vids.

Wow! When you assemble most of one genus from your collection it really illustrates it’s depth. Your thoughts herein combined with your Aloe Care video are a great resource for the aspiring Aloe grower. Though I’ve been inspired to grow quite a few hybrid aloes after conversations with Altman Plants hybridizer Kelly Griffin, I am currently trying to restrict myself to acquiring only smaller growing pure species, as I don’t have any more room in my garden for the giants. I really like the simple beauty of the natural species. That said ‘Delta Lights’ is very tempting! I don’t believe Gasteraloe seeds are viable. If any are, as you mentioned, they won’t come true.
(P.S. - I just posted my first video of my new cactus and succulent garden, which has a number of Aloes. If you’re curious give it a skim. )

Also, you’re probably already aware, but thought I’d leave a comment since you showcased Aloe “Delta Lights” and the species Aloe deltoideodonta. All of the KG “Delta” plants (Delta Lights, Delta Dawn, Delta Rose etc.) have that characteristic delta shape, as deltoideodonta is in the hybrid’s parentage.

I enjoyed seeing so many varieties of aloe but was disappointed that you didn't talk about the pendulous aloe on the front corner of the table. I have a plant that looks and grows like that one but I have had it for years and can't remember where I got it and don't know its name. It has survived so much neglect, almost died when sent to a relative for care while I was in Florida for the winter. I saved 2 small shoots that looked dead and I left them in a pot for 4 - 5 months totally ignorred while I was in Florida the next winter. When I returned, they were GREEN! and continued to grow into a plant the size of yours. Wow!

I also just fell in love with a Partridge Breast Aloe, a Snow Storm, Blue Elf and Black Gem. White Fox is an old standby of mine, and produces many pups! I have a gasteraloe hybrid (aloe haworthiodes x gasteria carinata) called "Twilight Zone" that I LOVE. It's a small clumping plant that turns a very dark chocolate brown in the sun, but has small white bumps that make it look like a star field. Super easy to care for and pest resistant.

I like to classify my plants but its hard because the same plant can be named by many names. A Aloe marlothii is so similar to a Aloe peglerae... do you use a book, a site, or what else to discover your name plants? or you just trust the info that comes with plant? (love from Portugal!)

I don't have too many aloes, but there are a few here. I'm crazy about my Blizzard and another one that's unidentified and gorgeous. The sun causes it to turn almost every color of sherbert. I like a lot of texture and tend toward those that are more white. The exception is my Aloe vera. That was a $1 rescue from Lowe's and it really came into its own this summer. P.S.I don't know about other areas, but around here, McLoughlin sounds a lot like mic-LOCK-lin. You're a yankee, like me. Feel free to use the PA pronunciation.
