    The Kimber is right there with the 54 for accuracy with that ammo, from what I see. The trigger on my S-A 54 is as perfect as any unaltered factory rifle’s trigger could be. I don’t think the style of the 54 appeals to as many people these days as the Kimber, but both are beautiful .22s. Fun video. Nice job!

    I enjoy watching your video`s because you are so real and you don`t spend all day talking about a lot of stuff that really doesn`t have anything to do with what you are talking about in other words a whole lot of (rambling on) like some others do. You break it up with some funny comments.

    A 1970 rifle will have 70 stamped on the barrel. Since about 1976 a letter code has been used to indicate the last two digits of the year of proof. A=0, B=1, C=2, D=3, E=4, F=5, G=6, H=7, I=8, K=9. J is not used. Therefore a code of HK would be 1979.

    That is some excellent shooting and one of your best videos. I would prefer the Anschutz but the Kimber is a very close second. The PWS Summit has a Biathlon type action that is much faster than a bolt and less disruptive to the shooter's hold... important to Biathlon competitors shooting against the clock.

    Great video! The "sticky bolt" you mention with the Kimber 82 is a result of the bolt design, specifically the cocking stud arrangement. The stud is a wear item under significant force and should be greased, inspected for wear, and periodically replaced. IMO this is the 82's biggest design deficiency.

    • @Dayattherange
      @Dayattherange  5 місяців тому +1

      Yes I have an 82G and check that bolt before every outing and makes sure it has a dab of lucas red grease on it. This rifle in this video belongs to a friend and just hasn't been shot much.

      @@DayattherangeI have been watching your videos for quite awhile, because they are so uplifting. I would love to have a Range in my backyard as target shooting is my favourite pastime. I was a professional ski patroller until I had a spinal cord injury while marking "Early Season Hazards", aka: rocks. An older quad took a few of us to the Range and let us try out his Anschutz which had a Fortner action. I’m so glad that I’ve gotten back into "improving my marksmanship"-which I’m able to do almost as well as when I was a "walking man". Thanks very much for sharing your knowledge, thoughts, enthusiasm and humour!

    Loved this video, maybe the closest to perfect ever for 22s. I am pro sporter all the way. I also take into account the "cruiseabilty" of the rifles for easing through the woods and shooting from side of tree trunks and offhand as well. No benches in the woods. No need for heavy, unbalanced bull barrel guns or artificial limb looking chassis. Give me quality walnut and steel from yesterday. Shooting paper is the ultimate humbling experience, and i think they all did exceptionally well. Surprised the a bolt hung in as well as it did. I am MOST impressed that this ammo did so well (after acclimation) in all the different rifles. Its a fit of chamber/barrel, trigger, optics, comfort, construction and ammo. All of these seem to work very well, and the shooting skill is at least great from the bench and at the correct range to test a hunting rifle in my opinion. Love to see more of this. I am a 452 guy with a soft spot for the 541 guns from remington, all have cons, the perfect bolt 22lr has not been built yet and probably never will ,but their are some that are really great. Looking for more on this maybe with the vudoo builds, 52's,cz457 and so on. Lets see who measures up. Nice job

    There’s nothing like a Walnut, (wooden), stock. That Savage/Anschutz is a thing of beauty, absolutely stunning. I have two "black" rifles in .22lr and they don’t do anything for me. I’m not sure if it’s me, but they don’t shoot very well and the "blastic" looks crap, and sounds hollow. Horrible. Don’t hate me-I’m in my 50s and can’t lie about my dislike of cheap looking and hollow sounding rifles. I love this channel and the enthusiasm for sports shooting that our host has. He always makes me laugh along with his humorous outbursts, "Hoo! Hoo! Oh me! Oh my! Go Anschutz!" Thanks for your posts.

    The best .22 that I have ever owned was an Anschütz 64. With SK Rifle Match sub 0.3 moa at 50 and 100 meters. But she was old, built in 65,bought in 1990. But after tens of thousands of rounds that I shot through her, the grouping started to open up. Had to say goodbye.😪

    I have called Kimber twice trying to convince them to start making .22s again now that they are in the great state of Alabama. I think they could make a rifle cheaper than a $3,000 Vudoo. OTOH my CZ 457 Varmint out groups every Vudoo at our club. A good friend has two Vudoos. One with an Ace barrel, other with a Bartlein. His 457 with Lilja barrel out shoots both.

    Good Lord Mr RG! May I ask who did the refinish on that BRNO STOCK ? I’m loving the finish on the savage Anschutz too.. And that Kimber ,with a 9x scope ? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I’m watching the flags and that pup is impervious to the wind … or you were doing a great job reading flags down range ! And who couldn’t love that browning ? I’ll guess the Anschutz has the best trigger? Btw , your question on the sporter barrels … my Sako p94s tapered barrel will outshoot just about anything I’ve tried . I think the heavy barrels are just easier to keep steady in the bench rest . I gotta say , I think I enjoyed this vid more than any you’ve done . I’ve often thought the old stuff is better than the new . I just don’t think a mass produced weapon can consistently be as good as those models that had more hand fitting with the love of a gifted smith . Every business today is run with the better faster cheaper model . Faster and cheaper often win out over better . I do believe the quality in the older rifles was personal to the gunsmiths if the day . There’s still some around but you gotta spend a whole lot more to get guns that shoot that well .

    Best group Kimber, best trigger Anschutz, The stock on the BRNO should be a little darker and it would be the one in my safe. until then the Kimber will be there. The browning is very nice, but their spray on finish doesn't hold up if it is used a lot. Ask me how I know. They have to be handled like they are museum pieces.
