BrozdoVSN yeah the music was fitting, while gus' lab was much bigger and more efficient and productive, it didn't endear the soul like the RV did. I guess it's cold sterile appearance was quite fitting to gus' character
IT IS the end of and era. The era in which Walt and Jessie work for themselves. From now on they become part of something quite bigger. Too big for them
I feel like Hank driving to the hospital is parallel to Walt making the meth deal instead of seeing his daughter's birth. Both were presented a choice between job and family and it really showed what type of person they were.
This scene is critical to the character development of Hank, he is so close to finding the meth kingpin he's looking for but his vulnerabilities are wide open to Walt. Walt takes advantage of it multiple times through the series, even bugs his office.
I love how that was a consistent occurance throughout the show. It really sold Hanks reaction to finding out Walt was Heisenburg in s5. From season 1, I was always curious as to how hank would react when he discovered the truth. Would his love for his brother in law prevail over his hatred for Heisenburg? If he had caught s2 Walt, probably. By S5 walt had taken advantage of and hurt hank so many times that there was no way hank could reconcile it
Yeah.....Imagine if Hank had called in back-up any time before during or after leaving the junk yard while these two muppets were just, ya know, casually hanging around watching the old girl get crushed.
He's not mad. He's not angry. He's not furious. You need a new word for the sheer rage flowing through his veins and neurons creating an absolute storm in his mind.
Jesse's distraught expression can be seen as one of two things. It could just be sadness over losing his RV that he had spent a lot of time in and formed a pseudo-relationship with. But I prefer to think of it as being sad over his dead friend. At this point in the story, Combo is dead, and the RV he helped Jesse get is his legacy in the story. With it gone, his role is essentially over.
@Axiz well yeah that’s what it is, an attachment to material things is generally an attachment to a person who left or was taken from you, or like sentimental things such as memoirs or trinkets, Omg i just realized I missed the joke and you meant Pseudo as in meth lmao that’s good
I wonder if there's a script for what he's supposed to be saying in that moment or if they just told him "yeah point at random things and say whatever"
I believe the RV had been moved to another location for its destruction, but if I were Walt, I’d want to get as far away as possible from that vehicle in case Hank finds them.

I always thought the same thing. He had made the call and he had his buddies coming back, and also a super pissed off Hank. Why on earth would they stick around for that to watch the RV get crushed? Maybe it was such a far ride that they figured they had a few minutes. I'll give Vince Gilligan a pass on this one!
Im pretty sure its just poetic freedom. Its so obvious that they could have got away unscaped that it really doesnt hurt anything that they waited there and the police didnt show. Its just there for the feels imo. What I dont get is how the property owner guy could shred it faster than the police arriving. Also how he didnt get into trouble for this?
No evidence on the property owner guy. Besides, without a warrant, he must keep doing his job which is destroying the RV as a client (Walt and Jesse) requested that service.
No evidence on the property owner guy. Besides, without a warrant, he must keep doing his job which is destroying the RV as a client (Walt and Jesse) requested that service.
I got some sort of "goodbye" or end of an era" feeling while watching the RV being destroyed in this scene, and the lyrics of the song applies perfectly with the tone and the feelings of the scene which leads me to believe that the writers knew it as well and that's why they chose the song. Clever.

"Haha, that was a smart move, right Jesse?. Now we can chill and hang around peacefully watching the RV being crushed." Script writers have a way to suck us back to reality.
It made for a good TV shot, but I'm surprised Walter and Jesse, or at least Walter, stuck around long enough to see the get scrapped. They had no idea how long it would take for Hank to see through the ruse. Hell, Marie could have accidentally called him the moment he pulled out of the scrapyard, or he could have tried calling her himself. If I was Walter, I'd have hauled ass out of there as soon as the dust from Hank's car settled.
Yeah, it was just for the shot. In the same scene walter got out of the RV right as Hank was pulling out, which would definitely be a huge risk that he wouldn't take in reality.
One of Breaking Bad's most emotionally raw scenes, in my opinion. This entire scene then the song made my heart and soul feel heavy. Like, I felt so sad for Hank's feelings but felt happy for Jesse and Walt and their badass-ness. Lol
The crushing of the RV is symbolic of the end of the first era of the show, which was mostly just Walt and Jesse working alone without much of a structure to their operation. It's probably no coincidence that we start learning more about the ruthlessness of Gus Fring at this point, and the whacking attempt on Hank occurs in the next episode.
That rage filled look Hank has is the exact same one from when he beats up Walt after finding out he's Heisenberg. He probably recalled this exact moment then when he realized it was Walt that setup the call.
I mean he literally says 'it was you! all along it was you! you drove into traffic to keep me from that laundry! and the phone call, telling me Marie was in the hospital. that wasn't Pinkman! YOU HAD MY CELL NUMBER.'
It wasn’t about Jessie but more about who Jessie was working with/for. Hank knew Jessie himself was no threat but at the time it seemed like Jessie was working with someone powerful (heisenberg) that was able to find out who Hank’s wife was and wasn’t above using her to get him to leave. The fake phone call also served as a threat of sorts since now Hank knows whoever he’s trying to catch knows who his wife is and thus now she’s potentially in danger. If heisenberg wasn’t Walt and if he knew who hank’s wife is, he could have gotten her killed.

I remember the first time I saw this scene, I wasn’t sad or mad. I was just shocked how amazing they made it and was just left with awe.
that ringtone
It makes me even more sad considering Combo is the one who got Jesse the RV. So now one of Combo’s last remembrances is gone.
poor Hank, he almost got sucked into the pixelated world
I can't believe I almost cried over a fucking RV. Best show of all time.
That scene with Hank's ring tone on it as track was awsome .
Vince is a genius
I never cried seeing a truck getting destroyed. Well done breaking bad.
For those wondering, this song is called He Venido by Los Zafiros, a Cuban filin (feeling) movement band from the 60's

Ridiculous how great this show was.
A interesting diversion? A stroke of genius.
I almost cried with this, and I never cry when watching a film/series
1:19 its like theyre on a field trip. walt is trying point out the procedure that's gonna be on the test and jessie is just just thinking, "cool, crunching metal"
Never realized how much of a banger that ringtone is
Walter and Jessie really look at the RV like admiral Kirk and his crew after the destruction of the first Enterprise.
0:41 where the real man cried
Walt and Jesse would NOT have stuck round like a couple of chumps after just going through what they did knowing that it was just a matter of time Hank and others would be coming back.
No,I really mean it,I cried after watching this scene,R.I.P RV.
Let's have a 2 min silence for the RV :) RIP 🕊️
So sad to see the demise of the crystal ship. Like loosing a cast member the main star.
Can’t think of a better piece of music to go with this scene, perfect.
This track popped in my brain when I had to say goodbye to my Spectra. Truly Heartbreaking to leave you in that lot.
I hope you are used to build a BMW in the future. So long my friend.
When Hank comes running through the hospital, the saturation was much more gritty and dark to symbolise his state of mind. But when he got the call from Marie, saturation went back to normal.
The ringtone turning the scene like a big prank 😂
Going from X-Files to this.......is just......Scorsese or Copolla work. Vince really captured pure feeling with this show. Forever will be, the greatest show ever displayed. Pure character development and suspense.
Such genuine performance from the RV. You really see it being taken apart! Superb!
