Thank you for this tutorial! My 11 year old is an artist and wants to start a sticker biz. This is exactly what we needed to know to help support him in his endeavors.
Wow.. I've watched many videos on how to make stickers using print and cut... this one is the MOST simple and does not intimidate me at all. Gonna try it asap. ❤ thank you.
I just unboxed my silhouette Cameo 4 and used your cut setting and it was perfect. Thank you so much for clear instructions. I was so frustrated with my cricut maker and the cut settings and print and cut calibration. I had to recalibrate constantly. I'm so excited about the silhouette.
I got my silhouette about a year ago but was way too intimidated to use it. And today I used it for the first time and made stickers that I'm really happy with, so thank you!!
The Cameo 4 does not have a printing function. You will need to have a printer either connected to your computer or you will need a networked printer to use, the Silhouette Cameo does not do the actual printing. Your printer will print off a sheet with your printable file and some registration marks. Notice that the gray hatch marks are not printed.
Excellent tutorial! I didn't even know about the nest option until I saw this tutorial. Very clear and concise. The cutting of the backing prior to packing is a great tip also.
I received a SC4 for the Holidays and I'm so excited to start making my designs into stickers!! You've made it incredibly easy to follow and understand. I'm even MORE excited now!! Thank you!!
FINALLY! after a week of searching for the right video, I feel confident to move forward using my portrait 3! Thank you for the clear and straight to the point tutorial. I would love to see a video on how you save your designs to accommodate both png's and svg's...including sizing and such:) please.
This is so helpful. I like the laminating part and had to order the laminating film even though I have the laminating paper...can I cut laminating paper the size of the paper within the registration mark, laminate and still get the same result? I am so excited to use...Great video
Thank you! Oraguard is a type of adhesive laminate, which is used to add an extra layer of durability and thickness to the stickers. I like to use a matte finish, but there are also gloss versions as well. I have tried a variety of other laminates, and have found that Oraguard 215 to be the best quality!

I print the stickers (using a regular printer) onto a sticker sheet (regular paper with peel off backing) and then put it on the cutting mat and use the cameo to cut. The cameo (and all other cutting machines) do not print.
Great video thank you can you tell me which printer you use. I would also like to create some designs for my mountain bike which uses a protective film do you know if this cutter would be able to cook that material
Thanks! The printer is the HP Envy 6055 (amzn.to/3CCqnnI). I haven't used a film like that before, but the Cameo would definitely be able to cut it! You would have to test out the right cut settings, but I would think it would be similar to a thinner vinyl.
Really new to all this. What did you print with? Does the software link to whichever pronter your computer is linked to? If so which printer is recommended? Budget friendly but still quality?
i prefer having excess paper so it is easier to remove the sticker. than manually slicing each sticker. what if you have 1000 stickers, i cant just manually slice 1000 stickers. i think you can adjust the amount of cut by the machine so it doesn't fully cut everything off.
Thank you for the help with this. One question, how do you add multiple designs to one file. It always seems to crash my software or not work at all if I try to add more than one design to a sticker sheet
Thanks! I use the HP Envy 6055 printer - amzn.to/3CCqnnI When using the Oraguard laminate, they are durable against an occasional splash, but not recommended for outdoor use.
I haven't tried it yet but I subscribed and liked it, lol. I'll give you feedback when I try it in a couple of weeks. Question, which paper did you use?
how did you get the back ground border off of your sticker design? mine, have all the extra paper space and i cant fit more then a few of my designs onto the cutting paper.
great tutorial ! what kind of printer did you use? many years ago, i had an epson wide format, and i was able to get an aftermarket refillable ink reservoir, does such thing still exist these days? thanks
The nesting tool is only available on the upgraded versions of the Design Studio (so you may not have it). If you do, it would be on the right side and looks like two hands locked together
I make stickers for myself but I want to make some for the non-profit organization I manage and want them to be more durable. How well do those hold up with the laminating film on top? Are they fairly water resistant?
They are pretty durable, however if they are exposed to water the ink could run. I don't recommend putting them outside or on cars. The only way they can be fully waterproof is if you are using an industrial UV printer (or getting them from a business that does).
Ho I I’m looking for advice, when I cut my stickers with a border, my cameo doesn’t seem to register as in the white cut border isn’t even all round, it’s as tho the registration is out, please help
Why do you use the Oraguard, is it for waterproofing? I've recently watched a few youtubers with sticker businesses explain their process and your's is the first I've seen using a laminate to go over the stickers.
If you make stickers at home, they will never be 100% waterproof (because of inkjet or laser printers), but adding a laminate can help against little splashes here and there. It also can prevent ink scratches and increases durability. I also like that it gives a nice, thicker finish and makes it a more quality sticker!
Hello, Would you be able to help me please? I have the Silhouette Cameo 4 Plus and am trying to print and cut my Honey Labels but my prints from Silhouette Studio are blurry. Like very blurry that you can't even read the labels. I designed the labels in Inkscape (SVG) and initially was exporting those into Silhouette Studio as a PNG from 250dpi to 320dpi quality, but everything prints blurry. I then bought the Business Edition of Silhouette Studio thinking that being able to import SVG would answer my prayers, however they're still printing the same. I even designed a mock up label in Silhouette Studio and it is also printing very blurry. I have tried all of the dpi settings within the Silhouette Studio software and still no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The only thing that might help is downloading a previous version of Design Studio - at least 3-4 versions back. Do all of your work in the new version, save, and then open the same file in the older version and print. For some reason, this fixes a lot of odd problems - it might fix yours!
Compare it to something he's really into an puts money into that you don't quite understand why. You have to have the right tool for the job or the job while it can still be done takes way to much work/effort to complete. But, if you had a cameo it could get done in a fraction of the time and effort. Saving you stress, exhaustion, as well as physical pain from the un-needed amount of work from using the wrong tool.
@@victoriavillarreal282 my cricut cuts great with less messing and so many materials - almost always fist time on the default setting! Both brands have positives and negatives.
New subscriber here! I have a dumb question. What are the benefits of printing on sticker paper and laminating VS printing on just vinyl printable paper? Also, can you print on vinyl printable paper on the HP 6055? I'm so confused lol Really appreciate it!g
Not a dumb question! In theory, the vinyl is a much more durable option as opposed to sticker paper, and better for outdoor use. However, if you are making stickers from home, most of the time people are using inkjet or laser printers. This ink is not waterproof, so adding lamination on top of the ink gives a more durable sticker - but still not totally waterproof. If you were to print on the vinyl, the ink still can smear. The printable vinyl is the way to go for commercial UV printers, but not really worth it for home use. After testing various vinyls, sticker papers, and lamination, I have come to the conclusion that the weatherproof sticker paper from Online Labels and Oraguard 215 laminate create the best sticker that you can make from non-commercial grade materials (at least in my opinion). Hope this helps!
@@FreestyleTravelShop Thank you so much for answering my questions! Because of your video, I ended up getting the HP 6055 and absolutely love it. Thank you again!
I love it! Inkjet is the best way to go because the ink is less expensive than laser toner, but you can still get great quality! I actually just uploaded this video about my printer: ua-cam.com/video/uia7nM13xzw/v-deo.html
What settings do you use to cut? Ours was cutting ok with a force of 33 and blade of 5 with the auto blade but now does not cut all the way through the laminate and vinyl. Any recommendations?
Hello, Thanks for the guide. I already have the design for the stickers along with the borders done through Canva in an a4 format, the a4 sheet has around 12-15 stickers per page, so if i were to cut these stickers through cameo 4, do i have to re-edit by designing the stickers in the cameo app as you have done above in 1:10 in the video above or can i directly print the page that i have and give a command to cut? Sorry if my question seems very stupid, just wanted to know how things really work . Thank you once again ! 🙂
No worries! If you have the borders already added in your sticker, then cut along that border. I didn't have the borders included in my png files so I had to add it in Silhouette Studio.
I had a Cricut, i wanted it mainly for stickers, the print and cut was absolutely awful. I'm looking at getting a silhouette cameo 4, would you recommend it?
Absolutely! I had the Cricut Maker first and switched to the Cameo. Since then, I have not had to calibrate once (I don't think they event have a calibrate feature) and all cuts have come out perfect. The only thing is that the Silhouette Design Studio software has a decent learning curve, but once you get the hang of it makes so much sense!
What printer are you using to actual print your stickers? I have a a nice epson photoprinter is that sufficient? Also is there any issue with fading? is it better to go laser printing for black and white prints?
I use the HP Envy 6055 printer, and its the only one I have ever used! (amzn.to/3CCqnnI) You don't need anything fancy or expensive, as long as you are using the best print quality. I haven't seen any issues with fading unless you keep the sticker in full sunlight every day. I don't have a ton of experience with laser printing, but I know that I can still get bold and crisp prints with inkjet!
New here to all this cutting machine stuff, but can you print off the cameo? Did you print your stickers off a printer first and then inserted to cameo for cut?
I have all the same materials that you are using in this video, went to cut the project after printing. Luckily, I did the test cut first, BUT it cut the test square through my cutting mat. =( I have my paper aligned exactly where you said/showed. Any thoughts?
Are you using the auto blade or an adjustable blade? If you're using an adjustable blade (or premium), you would have to manually adjust the cut depth on the blade itself - if you didn't, it could definitely cut through your mat.
Ok. Your cut setting formula worked once perfectly for me and then the same cut formula did not work again with the same materials. I layer printable vinyl with a sheet of self adhesive laminate over it, run through a cold laminator machine, so perfectly adhered. Your cut formula worked great the first time then would not cut all the way through. I tried the autoblade and the manual one mil set to 10 on each with your setting as dictated in the video. Do you have any suggestions? I even tried 3 passes and it still didn’t cut through all the way. This is driving me insane. I had calibration problems with the Cricut so I switched to Silhouette. I’m about to cry because I feel so frustrated. Lol. Also, my machine sounds like it’s trying to communicate with the mother ship while it cuts - is that normal? 👀
Okay I’m new to making stickers and the Oraguard 215 Overlaminate you buy is there any other brand you suggested? Oraguard wants me to make an account to buy products. And I don’t have a Business so I can’t complete the form they are asking. If you have any suggestions that would be much appreciated, thank you.
No worries! I recommend getting the 8.5"x11" sheets from Creative Craft Vinyl - creativecraftvinyl.com/shop/printable-vinyl/oracal-uv-laminating-film-oraguard-215/
The nesting tool is only available if you purchase the business edition of silhouette studio - it can work for any machine! It's a one time purchase of $89
Hi I have a question about using the slice! When you use it does it kind of appear in the front that there is a line/cut but it's not actually cut?? I bought one after watching this and I feel like it looks like I cut through but then again i'm not sure if it's just an indent or actually cut through lol.
My question- am I correct that you don’t need a printer if you have the Cameo?? Everything I’ve seen so far you have to design it on your computer then send it to your printer then put it through your cutter, you don’t need to do that with the cameo am I understanding that correctly?
Is silhouette cameo 4 in 12 inch the one you’re using? I’m so confused, they have 12, 15, 24 inch size differences, is 12 inch enough for sticker making business? Thank you ❤
I just have the base level machine which is the 12" and is perfectly suitable for all of my sticker needs! Most people that have the larger units are using it for vinyl signs where they would need a large surface area.
so weird I try to do a test cut and I only had photo paper, and it slides around and out. It's almost completely messed up at this point.. I don't know what I'm missing honestly. EDIT: because you need to remove the blue protective layer from the mat as it supposed to be sticky. They didn't tell me this anywhere lol.
To be clear... the silhouette printed this right? It didn't show that part ... its implied (went from the program, then next shot was a printed page (time 4.31)) but the silhouette printed that sheet before it was cut right?
Unfortunately the silhouette does not print it - it prints from your separate inkjet or laser printer. But you don’t have to do anything different than hitting print!
It is difficult for me to print and then cut to the same dimensions. I have tried several times, each time the place of cutting is different from the place of the image or on the borders of the image
I have one problem the print and cut lower my art quality so much and the color look so off I try the pdf, photoshop method and silhouette won't read the registration mark
The only thing I know that might help is downloading a previous version of Design Studio - at least 3-4 versions back. Do all of your work in the new version, save, and then open the same file in the older version and print. I was originally having a similar problem and it worked for me!

I’m about to cry because I feel so frustrated. Lol. Also, my machine sounds like it’s trying to communicate with the mother ship while it cuts - is that normal? 👀
As far as the sounds it makes, yeah, sounds like the son of R2D2--and all my searches have shown this to be the norm.
Hi what printer best for stickers
I use the Hp Envy 6055 printer and I love it! amzn.to/3CCqnnI
Did you have to change pens to get the different colors? I just don’t know how the printing works for printing of different colors
You have to print separately on a printer and then feed it into the machine to cut.
Is this just available if you have cameo? I’m using silhouette portrait and couldn’t find the nest icon. Thanks.
The nesting tool is only available if you purchase the business edition of silhouette studio - it can work for any machine! It's a one time purchase of $89
Does the silhouette print the stickers with color as well ?
No, the silhouette (and cricut machines too) only cut. You need to feed in already printed paper
Hi I have a question about using the slice! When you use it does it kind of appear in the front that there is a line/cut but it's not actually cut?? I bought one after watching this and I feel like it looks like I cut through but then again i'm not sure if it's just an indent or actually cut through lol.
It comes down to the pressure that you're using - it takes some practice to get the hang of it! But use a lot less than what you think you need
Curious on which designer license you got if you don’t mind sharing that info
I think I upgraded to the business version? I wanted the version that had the nesting tool and a few other features
@@FreestyleTravelShop thank you! It was definitely worth the upgrade for the best feature!
Thank you!
My question- am I correct that you don’t need a printer if you have the Cameo?? Everything I’ve seen so far you have to design it on your computer then send it to your printer then put it through your cutter, you don’t need to do that with the cameo am I understanding that correctly?
The cameo only cuts, you will need a separate printer
How does one pen use all these colors
What is your file type for stickers?
Hello !!
Kindly reply
Can I use an auto blade for this?
Yes!
I don't have silhouette pro can i use gimp?
To be clear... the silhouette printed this right? It didn't show that part ... its implied (went from the program, then next shot was a printed page (time 4.31)) but the silhouette printed that sheet before it was cut right?
Unfortunately the silhouette does not print it - it prints from your separate inkjet or laser printer. But you don’t have to do anything different than hitting print!
It is difficult for me to print and then cut to the same dimensions. I have tried several times, each time the place of cutting is different from the place of the image or on the borders of the image
I have a brother printer. Does it matter what kind of printer you use?
Not at all - all that matters is the material you’re printing on!
How do you print your blacks so deep? I have the same printer, black comes out gray
When printing, make sure that it's in best quality color mode. You may have to change this in printing settings or manually every time you print
Hello, how did you print all of the colors for this decal and with what print and on what material?
You only showed how you cut them out.
This was printed from my printer - these cutting machines do not print
@@FreestyleTravelShop, what kind of printer is that?
It’s the HP Envy 6055 - linked in the materials in the description!
We’re do you buy the The Slice Tool?
Amazon! amzn.to/3peTZze
what printer you use or u can use any printer
I have the HP Envy 6055 printer, but as long as you can get good quality you can use any printer
I need help!!! My cameo will not cut right even when i calibrate it 😭
THANK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
I can't access your website, can I please have the cut settings
Sorry, my website was down this morning! Its back up: freestyletravelshop.com/blogs/creator-blog/cut-settings
@@FreestyleTravelShop thanks!!!!!!!
How can i make sticker packs instead of this ?
