Something Hubby and I did back in the day was drive around through different neighborhoods looking at the houses. We'd talk about things we liked about the houses or didn't like and basically just dream about what we wanted our future "forever home" to be like. Hubby was military, so we were constantly moving and living in temporary homes.
We finally live in our "ain't never gonna move" home (because our forever home is actually in heaven). Now we sometimes wander through Lowe's looking at things and dreaming about when we final save enough to remodel the kitchen or bathrooms.

Our library is a $10 million homeless daycare.
And if I'm that broke I'm probably too depressed to go on a date night anyway?

One time my husband and I built a blanket fort with our dining room chairs. We built it in our living room (after moving all the furniture). We put our air mattress in the fort. Each got a box or two or candy from the dollar store. And we watched a movie we had at home. It was a ton of fun.

Besides DVDs and Audio books, our public library even has DVD players to borrow and if cooking speciality cakes, they have cake pans free to loan and often free tickets to local museums on special days. A great resource!

I cannot do #4. Get me around books, and I’m buying. But maybe do that at a library where I can easily just check them out instead of buying? Or I could use my own bookshelf since I already have a good amount of books to work with.

Our favorite date night is pizza and Wii Bowling. We either buy a frozen pizza or make our own.

    1. Plan for a future vacation
    2. Buy a DVD to watch together (from the dollar store)
    3. Look through old pictures together
    4. Pick out a book series for each other (go to the bookstore) -- not to buy, but to talk about
    5. Score free babysitting
    a. ask for help from your community
    b. swap date nights with friends
Note: the library is a good place for the books and DVDs and free. (ecsimmy said this first)

If you have to swap it isn't free, you pay with your mental health. Just what I want to do after working a 12 hr day?

Fortunately, my husband and I are not social people, and we have no "couple" friends. We like our own company and prefer staying in at night. We rarely eat at a restaurant. We think the food we prepare is superior (and cheaper) than most restaurants. We'd rather watch a movie at home, whether a DVD we own or on a streaming service, and pop our own popcorn. We know we're not like most people, but it works for us. We also like jigsaw puzzles, and can work on one at the same time without getting in a fight.😉😂 We do have an adult son with a disability, so it hampers going out. The three of us do go on hiking vacations every summer, so not super expensive.

Inexpensive Date Night: Take a walk around your city center area (shops, restaurants, fountains) and then grab ice cream from the nearby ice cream shop.

Great ideas, thanks! I like #1 the best. It ticks a lot of boxes and because it’s about a future adventure/vacay, you’d have ongoing conversations about it on future "dates" 👏 Dreaming together about the future is truly positive and gets you on the same page so you can actually reach that goal. I love you, and all your videos, Rachel! ❤

Number 3 is similar to what our last date was. Except, 3½ years into marriage, we sat down and browsed through wedding photos to decide which ones to print and hang.
Part 2 will be actually buying frames and ordering prints. Part 2 won't be so cheap 😂

My husband and I enjoy geocaching together. Did it a ton when it was just the two of us, now starting to take the kids out too. Geocaching is a gps "treasure " hunting type of activity following coordinates to hidden objects.

Love the picture thing. My BF & met and became friends as teens then went our separate ways as young adults. We met up again 3 years ago, so to look back at those teenage pics makes us laugh everytime.

Pawn shop DVD player + $1 DVDs = no streaming payments 😎 (let's be honest, most of us watch the same stuff over and over)

There are so many free movies on Netflix, we find it worth it to pay for that. Every Friday night we pick out a good movie and watch it with a big bowl of popcorn. When we had little kids we just swapped with other parents. We hardly ever eat out anymore since it is so expensive and the quality has gone way down

I haven’t watched the video yet. When my wife and I dated (and today being married) during Xmas time we would drive to neighborhood look at Christmas lights. Relatively cheap mostly paying for some fuel

We Had a date night. Went to Lowe’s and bought a toilet .That's generally how they all go. why would you go to the library, and rent a movie when you can just about stream, anything on TV

Yup. I've never paid for cable or streaming. DVDs and streaming are free from the library. Antenna tv and library movies/tv mean no budget line for at-home entertainment, more money for other things.

There is a fake channel using your name and voice. Their UA-cam channel is called "The Rachel Cruze Show" and has very few subscribers. I've posted the link as a reply and also emailed the ramsey company email with screenshots. Fraud like this really annoys me!
