West Virginia, like the Big 12 needs to be patient and allow the ACC to dismantle itself. The dismantling will either take place internally at the end of their media rights or it will take place with ESPN dismantling the conference, or the schools will agree to be removed from the conference collectively. We are all waiting for the expansion opportunities for the Big 12 to bring schools from the ACC into our conference.

When WVU was winning games that mattered with White and Slaton etc, they were respected. We overachieved some and it was magical. They said OU would beat us in fiesta bowl. Why? Because we lost to USF and Pitt. They’d aid UGA would beat us in sugar bowl. Why? Because we had a freshman quarterback and played in a terrible conference going up against the SEC champs. These aren’t slights….its just good common sense. WVU winning those games is magical….partly because it was so unexpected.

WVU alum here.. Paul’s point about overall image/brand of our program is very accurate. What Deion at Colorado proved is that you can rebrand an image is a very short amount of time. We need something that sets us apart in recruiting.. Oregon did it with their uniform and facilities and they built on it.. I’m sorry but a coal mining helmet for an interception at the sideline is not going to impress a 4,5 star talent .. Building a modern identity and brand has to be on top of the list for our program.

Avid lifelong WVU fan here…..a big problem is our fans. The super unrealistic view and expectations. Most of our fans are allergic to logic and see any attempt to point this out as “hate”. Last year we won nine games, but got blown off the field by both good teams we played. And also had the luxury of not playing Kansas or Texas. There were obvious improvements, but today we are being disrespected when we haven’t proven ANYTHING is typical WVU fan nonsense. I’ll be happy with 8 wins this year! Because I’m a realistic fan that doesn’t feel slighted and undervalued.

He came in had to deal with Covid, drastic portal changes, adjusting to NIL along with our own athletic director stating that the university was behind the curve with the country roads trust, and also had to overcome the train wreck of a culture Holgerson left in the wake of his departure. One thing we've noticed is that WVU fans are like the only B12 school whose fans have no earthly idea what talent is on the other teams. Even if WVU has improved, UCF (as one example) has gotten way more new talent compared to WVU. WVU keeps adding other programs' cast-offs and a lot of G5 talent. Not sure why WVU needs to "plead" for the BIG XII to add ACC schools (Pitt, Louisville, Miami, et al) when it seems very clear that the ACC schools are squarely the focus of Yormark and the BIG XII? I know there is lingering talk about the PAC 2, but they are highly unfavored by a majority of the BIG XII schools and fanbases. The ACC schools will be a much greater value to the BIG XII than the PAC 2. Let's focus on getting FSU, Clemson, Miami, Pitt, Louisville, NC State, Va Tech, BEFORE even glancing westward.

We're not being impatient what we are is getting irritated by the thought that the other two Pacific schools might come in Poughkeepsie prevent more Eastern schools. Now West Virginia was burned by a few of those programs in the ACC and they would be within their rights to do nothing to help the likes of those schools but West Virginia remembers its roots and its football was best when it played those schools. Yurcich being out is a PLUS for PSU. LOL! He got fired and the offense immediately improved. WVU is about to see an offensive scheme this year it didn't see last year. And BTW, they're facing an OC who knows their defense coming from the Big 12. There are losses on the O-line, but the problem is who does WVU have on their D-Line to take advantage of it? Especially if there will be a ton of presnap motion?
Fleming is not the #2 WR at PSU. It will go Tre, Clifford, Fleming, Evans, Gallagher, Denmark. Unlike last year, you will see Singleton and Kaytron catch the ball a ton. Not sure how he left out one of the top running back duos from the conversation. And PSU is 3 deep at TE. PSU rarely runs a single TE set.
And Tom Allen is a former elite SEC coordinator who is squarely focusing on defense instead of head coaching. PSU will drop from a top 3 defense to a top 10 since much isn't changing on that side of the ball. Who will PSU use to block Chop Robinson on one side and DDS on the other? And since Allen will play a 3 safety look, there's only so much WVU can do once the QB escapes the pocket.
PSU never uses the full playbook in out of conference games. It'll be closer than last year, but no, WVU doesn't have the depth or talent to win a 4 quarter game against PSU.

I think if the question is, "How can WVU win?" then those are fair points about lacking chemistry on the O-Line and change in coordinators. But with him and guys like Kurtz feeling confident that WVU is 22 points better this year, that's where I'm pushing back. PSU is not a 3 TD favorite in this game.
