I love that you explain your thoughts in the comparisons, instead of just flash side-by-side photos too quickly without explanation, like many other reviewers. Excellent video, Ben! 👍
Am a big fun of huawei, the fact that huawei is included in this video means huawei wins. The sound coming from mate 50 pro is outstanding. Thanks buddy for good work, keep it up.
Huawei does it again, with that RYYB sensor. Each and every shot it does is warmer, but it has that "Come visit me" vibe to every place it captures. I love Huawei's color processing. Man oh man...
Excellent Ben. We get a good feel for the strengths and weakness of each phone. And the summary is spot on... Google well-rounded / Vivo high-ceiling / Xiaomi natural contrast. Sleep well!
Your camera comparisons are always the most unbiased and in depth covering a range of situations And you include the less famous but equally good phones like 12s ultra, x80pro, Huawei , findx5 pro Espescially glad to see the x80 pro included since to my eyes its images are the most appealing Your videos should be the mainstream benchmark for camera comparisons I wish your channel grows!
I've used Samsungs, iPhones, Pixels, Huaweis and it surprises me how tech reviewers fail to mention the zoom capability of the front cameras (both photo and video up to 4x) on the pixel phones. That gives it an edge over other phones, at least in terms of camera versatility. Granted it may not be the most useful feature in a front camera for most people but it is always better to have it than to not have it. And no other phone has it.
Awesome comparison as always Ben. It's pretty amazing how an incremental update made this one of the best camera phones on the market. I still like the X80 pro but I'm very curious as to what they will do with x90 series.
Ben, I just have to say thank you so much for your effort to make this camera comparison and bring to us the rich information. Awesome video.. Awesome quality... Man you are simply the best! Greetings from Brazil!
you are the only reviewer who ever uploads a vid. i watch on the big screen 4k enjoying it like a movie 🍿 ,, for the comparison i ll take the vivo as over all camera to go Night / neon / portraits and day pics.
getting the mate 50 pro; preorder in Malaysia just started few days ago. Just went to compare the demo unit of the mate 50 pro (white version) and vivo x80 pro. The mate 50 pro just felt so much nicer in the hand.
These are the best phone photo comparisons I've seen on YT yet. Not only what you cover and how but even your own opinions on it are very spot on imo. Color accuracy and exposure is important but you can't just go ham on HDR look because it makes things look fake. Same goes for sharpness and clarity. Some manufacturers like Vivo in this instance seem to boost HDR and also denoise+oversharpen things too much. The result ends up being a blotchy, digital paintery mess. The ignorance from many regarding this over processing is especially apparent when you see that DXOMark considers the Honor Magic4 Ultimate at least in rank 2 when it comes to photo quality. Just look at the images they show in their review... it's grossly overprocessed. Makes me wonder if and how much money was paid for this ranking. I'm using the Huwawei P30 rn and can't stand the RGY sensor anymore because in some scenarios it's really doing weird things. Having to edit the green tint it sometimes adds in corners of the shot is almost impossible. I won't be going with another Huawei phone going forward because of that sensor tech alone. So far the Xiaomi is the winner for me. Yes it doesn't always correct for exposure with HDR but thanks to that it ends up being more organic/natureal looking... it produces images that look the least "smartphony" imo. And with the pro/manual settings I'm sure I'll manage to shoot great photos with it if a situation is more challenging. If Google's Pixel had a pro shooting mode I'd grab that but I'm not willing to rely 100% on what Google deems a good photo for me. Speaking of which, I would love it if you would consider making a videos focusing purely on the camera app controls of these phones. Hardly any UA-camr/reviewer does that and it's such an important part of the shooting experience, as well as the results you might be getting. I understand that not everyone is a skilled photographer but those who do have some experience with camera settings or just want more control in general might really profit from it.
Amazing work, Ben! Thanks for creating this vid. One thing about the VIVO's HDR is that it has a downside as well, like when you look at the sky at 9:08 - it's very uneven and I think I would prefer Google or Huawei in here (and overall - the Pixel). Nonetheless - you are the real deal, mate! Keep it going!
Yeah, it looks like the camera is heavily adjusting the gain curve across the image after the shot has been taken, but the edge detection and zoning looks fairly basic, so you end up with some obvious dodging and burning artifacts. Reminds me of my b+w film days where I would cut out shapes to dodge and burn a print. Although I shouldn't be _too_ critical, algorithmic processing is not perfect in all situations, and even human photographers will go, "dang, I should have taken that shot with X settings instead of what I used" all the time. So Vivo nailing their shots 90% of the time is actually a better keep rate than most enthusiast photographers.
I definitely like what Xiaomi has. The video is pretty cinematic and night time shows little noise and good enough stabilisation. The photos are what I'd like which is photorealistic. Pixels does have better colours and details in photos but video seems a bit soft somehow but still usable. Huawei does have the better audio and photos are nice. Vivo is like the amalgamation of the three with slight overproccessed. Although I like the shots it's definitely not for me. I'll choose Xiaomi for it's sensor prowess alone. I am waiting for the 1 inch sensor to reach other brands or cheaper. I'll probably wait for the Xiaomi 13 Pro or wait for Sony to slap it to their Xperia line. Still no matter which phone you choose you're not gonna be disappointed with any of them.
I like your format of showing the sights around while comparing the phones - kind of like The Unlocker or Mr Mobile. Only thing - they typically don't do comparisons. Good luck with your day job as well! Pixel's the one for me.
For serious photographers, that big Xiaomi sensor and minimal processing are great. Still in the running to be my next work camera when I recontract next year. Disappointed that they still haven't got night video right at Huawei. Much better than the Mate 40 Pro, but still not as good as it should be given how good the photos are. Awesome sound quality, though. Does it still have the high res AI mode? That should give you amazing pixel peeping detail in daylight shots. Still unsure if it's worth upgrading from the 40 Pro. The Vivo X80 Pro really punching up. Amazing performance, and probably one of the best Instagram shooters out there now. But that Pixel 7 Pro. Wow. That's one fantastic all arounder. For fire and forget shooting, looks like this is the new king. Dude, you rock. This is the comparo we've all been waiting for. Great Job!
@@a.s.7996 That would depend on your needs, wouldn't it? I've tested the X80 Pro at the store, and while the HDR and color are impressive, in terms of overall detail at the pixel peeping level, my Mate 40 Pro still has the edge in terms of the main sensor and the Telephoto. And since I use it for paid work, detail levels that allow me to crop in closer are more important than HDR, which I will usually either turn off or tone down when post processing anyway. (and of course, software bokeh is a no no for any serious work) And there is still no counterpart for Huawei's high res AI mode, which I use a lot for product shots. Horses for courses, the X80 Pro is fantastic for point and shoot, and I think it's fantastic, overall, but some of us need to do other stuff,
thank you. I got the vivo x70 pro after watching your x80 pro vs x70 pro camera comparison, I ended up choosing last year model over this year bc of the video stabilization. Thanks
This thing here is an awesome job (despite the 24fps video cap, which I still hate :P), nevertheless the thing you did here is worth of the highest ''RESPECT''. And the conclusion is right on point. Personally I'd take vivo x80pro, mostly because of the night mode and general HDR (which I kinda like), I just wish they improve that ultra wide camera a bit. Very much appreciated, sending love from Serbia, and keep up the good work
AWESOME comparison! These devices are marketed and hyped so differently, but we use them as you do, which flattens out that marketing experience... seeing the still images and video captures is SO helpful to people in making buying decisions... thanks for the effort and GREAT channel!!
Great review once again. I love the way I never sense any bias from your reviews. I am not a brand loyalist. Prefer to judge capabilities not brand brainwashing hahaha. Thanks bro. Love from Ireland...
BEN! I haven't been watching much UA-cam lately - How did you go from Hong Kong to LA? And you're showing me the TACO TRUCKS I miss so much in Thailand. Salivating literally. You know the food here is amazing but Mexican Street food! Whoa. Try Taco Azteca in Glendale. Was one of my favorites many years ago before leaving LA. And Thanks as always for the great reviews. Sorry i was looking at the city more than the phones. Peace to you.
The first truly camera comparison between the best in business. Super clever scenes choice that push the cameras so hard to the limit and beyond. And the more importan is who is in the near to the real looking scenes. Thank you man and keep going !
Thanks for your great work from Hong Kong! You're the first reviewer I go to whenever I'm shopping for a new phone (I change phones approx 3 to 4 times a year). I'm looking forward to your review of the Vivo x90 pro and x90 pro plus when they are released!
Great job Ben 👍🏾and I have to give it to you man. You make the best camera reviews full stop. Nice to see your Pop's give you a hand with this. By the way be careful out there in Los Angeles with those expensive gadgets too. Thanks 🙏🏾
Have you noticed any video improvements with the Xiaomi after updates? The low-light video looked spectacular and I think it'd be interesting to see it against the iPhone 14 Pro again.
From what i saw in the other comparisons, 12s ultra crushed 14 pro max in the video.. Especially in low light and night. Pretty insane result after years of iphone leading the video quality. Even during the day, xiaomi have just better details and hdr
@@12587drago it's important to note that iPhones still have the best exposure/HDR in video, which is where Xiaomi falls behind. But I agree that Xiaomi's videos look cleaner, sharper and nearly as stable as the iPhone's, which is a great achievement.
Awesome comariso. As a photographer w a Google pixel 6 pro, my friends say my pics smoke their pictures as regardless of of good the phone/camera is nothing will nail the photo out of the box. You do have to adjust exposure at times. I do find I reach for my gp6pro far more than my DSLR. IMO the Vivo was spot on, with good dynamic range. Xiaomi is testing a third party lens you can adapt to the 12 S that would really take advantage of the 1" sensor.
Hey Ben, awesome detailed comparison. I like the fact that you are giving every phone a chance and not afraid to speak about weak points when there are.
Hands down, the best night-time video between these four phones goes to the Xiaomi 12s Ultra. Just look at how it performs here @12:28. All of them exhibit jittery video when moving around, but the Xiaomi was definitely the most pleasing of the four in terms of picture quality. Now waiting for the Vivo X90 Pro that is soon to come out...
As soon as the Vivo X90 Pro+ comes out and you compare it to the 14 Pro Max, I will buy the winner! Somehow, I think it's going to be the X90 Pro+ with its 1 inch sensor! Looking forward to this comparison... 🙏
I like the Xiaomi natural processing without excess sharpening. Would be great to be able to combine that with a high HDR option too. Kind of sucks that we have these great sensors and processors, yet you zoom in to the image and still see oversharpened mess
Thanks man! Funny enough, first shots were next to the church where I was a best man at my best friend's wedding! So, big thanks for the trip down the memory lane! All 4 phones have strength and weakness IMO. Ultimately I couldn't decide which phone I'd take in 🤔😁😁. I wonder what would it look like if u had Oneplus 9rt in your lineup!? Budget segment and... just curious! Good comparison! Cheers!
Hi Ben, thanks for great video. Really hard to find better phone camera reviews right now. Keep up with good work and appreciate all time you are spending with it...
I definitely love your dedication to being simple on the review for this. The multiple selfie stick just isn't a fair assessment of each phone so I definitely appreciate you taking time to hook and unhook Rach phone. Big silent workload that should get a shoutout One request, can you please set up the final video next to each other like you did for the single photo shots? It's harder to compare if they are not side by side imo Otherwise I really do like the way this was done. 9 hours of boots on the ground work is impressive, especially considering this is not your main job. Wish you were local so I could puts around trying to compare these too and offer the photos for your channel. Not everyone has the ability to buy this many flagship type of phones in the same year mind you. Great job! I'm never one to just hand out a like on a video but you sir definitely deserve it considering how crappy the reviews are for other channels (who are actually more popular)
Man, your comparisons are so daring. I say daring because you're the only UA-camr (and tech journalist, for that matter) willing to compare devices that might actually topple the big boys on the block.
Also, the Huawei is @#$%ing stunning! In my opinion, Chinese phones have just fantastic microphones on them. Western brands, as well as Samsung, often sound like they're heavily filtered.
Always watch your videos full koz you do a good daily use reviews even involving your dad ,good work ,at least know Google has good stills but videos I'll pick vivo x80 pro ...thanks 🙏
Solid effort bro , I love how your comparison videos are detailed enough yet not boring and at the same time you don't decide for all of us , I mean u keep emphasizing that this is ur personal opinion...keep up the good work and all the best for you 👍🏾👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Took a moment and think that unlike the other big youtubers he has to buy these flagship phone by his own and reviewing these camera in weekend where every job guy will thinks to have some rest, take chill in Netflix but instead of that, he is up and provides us the best videos on demand of audience. Really speaking Ben you are awesome. Hats off to your work 🙏❣️🔥 love from India. 🇮🇳❤️. You are doing awesome work beside of your office work . Kinda remind me of attending the private tuitions and school classes and also maintaining my football practice. Really appreciate it Ben. Love you and your videos, you deserve more man ❤️🔥❣️
Brilliant review and always come to your channel for the best advice - Good news that there is a Vivo launch event today and I think they may be releasing the x90 pro which will be awesome 😎
at the end of the day, it all comes down to what a person gives priority to. I never like fake things. if it's dark I want my phone to try to take the dark as accurately as possible. So again I belong to the team Xiaomi 12s Ultra.
Thanks a lot. Now I am more confused than ever. I do have the X80 Pro for 1 week now and absolutely love the photos it makes, especially when playing with the Zeiss portrait modes etc. However today my preordered Google Pixel 7 Pro will also arrive, and I will have to decide which one to keep. Probably the battery life will be the decision factor, Vivo is pretty meh in that respect.
Awesome vid once again bro. I know you're not a big selfie guy but it would be good to get a sense of each phone's capacities for selfie video and stills too. Thanks for your content!
You've done a really good job, Ben. The phones have advantages over each other. Huawei is very successful in video sound, I liked all devices in general performance, Xiaomi definitely uses the advantage of sensor size, but it could still do a better job with a 1-inch sensor, I hope it will get better with updates. I think Vivo is very good in photography and dark environment, especially in the night video, it shot a very stable video. Google Pixel looks pretty good this time and has come a long way compared to the previous generation. Thanks and greetings to your father for his support.
Wow! It is a really great video. Unfortunatelly my phone (S22 Ultra) is not in this conparison. I would love to see along with these smartphones. I can't wait to see the vivo x90 series performance if the 1 inch sensor and new ISP rumors are true.
Hey Ben, awesome work ! Really pleasant to see someone so dedicated to make honest and precise reviews. I'm offered the choice today to pick between the X80 pro and the 7 pro. Overall, which one would you pick between these two with the last updates ? Thanks in advance et bravo from France 🇨🇵🙏
Great comparison! All 4 phones are pretty strong but I think when the Vivo X90 Pro + comes out in Dec/Jan, it might be the new one to beat. Great job!!
provided the vivo x90 pro + is released for global market. Anyway, i just tried out the mate50 pro and compared to the demo x80 pro. I prefer the feel of the mate 50 pro (white) in my hand.

Thank you . for following my request in the previous video❤❤❤❤
Hey Ben, awesome detailed comparison.
I like the fact that you are giving every phone a chance and not afraid to speak about weak points when there are.
Thank you
Nice video Ben,I like the Vivo night pics a lot
My goto channel for camera phone reviews 👍. Thanks Ben!
X80 pro crush the iphone in the photos in every way.. x90 pro will be too much overkill
I like the Xiaomi natural processing without excess sharpening. Would be great to be able to combine that with a high HDR option too. Kind of sucks that we have these great sensors and processors, yet you zoom in to the image and still see oversharpened mess
So true!
Yes, that would be a total winner for me, we like natural, but we need HDR to see some stuff sometimes
@@everything_huawei_pro4743 the Hauwei captures detail the way you wrote your comment - it's just not processed quite right
@@everything_huawei_pro4743 bro look at your name, literally nothing you say matters cos ur biased af
Ben’s reviews are the best…!
Thanks for the support Eugene!
Cheers!
Wow... All that running around doing a fantastic review and then going for a day job.! Salute !!
Low-key best review channel on the site
Hi Ben, thanks for great video. Really hard to find better phone camera reviews right now. Keep up with good work and appreciate all time you are spending with it...
I definitely love your dedication to being simple on the review for this. The multiple selfie stick just isn't a fair assessment of each phone so I definitely appreciate you taking time to hook and unhook Rach phone. Big silent workload that should get a shoutout
One request, can you please set up the final video next to each other like you did for the single photo shots? It's harder to compare if they are not side by side imo
Otherwise I really do like the way this was done.
Thank you!
thanks for your complete comparison and hard work. hope you 1 million subs in next year
Man, your comparisons are so daring.
Best channel of comparison and reviews. Thanks for your effort!
Thank you
Xiaomi always does the cleanest image.... i love it.... why i can't live without my 10 Ultra
Event time?
Great review Ben. Big up Pops holding it down as a model and a camera man!
at the end of the day, it all comes down to what a person gives priority to.
I never like fake things.
if it's dark I want my phone to try to take the dark as accurately as possible.
So again I belong to the team Xiaomi 12s Ultra.
Hanging out with your dad while working at the same time... You're lucky 😁
Love your work, subbed! Wishing you all the success, thank you!
I'm really impressed by each video you are deploying.
Thanks a lot for the very good, nearly best testreviews.
Keep on going!!!
How to message you, if I have to?
Thanks alot for your responding and makes this lovely comparition
arguably the best phone reviewer on youtube
Wow! It is a really great video. Unfortunatelly my phone (S22 Ultra) is not in this conparison. I would love to see along with these smartphones. I can't wait to see the vivo x90 series performance if the 1 inch sensor and new ISP rumors are true.
Scam alert! Please block him!
My favorite one is Vivo X80 Pro. In my opinion, Pixel 7 Pro is overrated.
Pictures during night and day by the Vivo are amazing 😉
great comparison video, great inspiration ben
Your work is authentic. Weldone bro.
So cool you dad helps you with your videos ❤
Always waiting for your video 👍
Hey Ben, awesome work ! Really pleasant to see someone so dedicated to make honest and precise reviews.
I'm offered the choice today to pick between the X80 pro and the 7 pro.
Overall, which one would you pick between these two with the last updates ?
Thanks in advance et bravo from France 🇨🇵🙏
When it comes to camera comparison Ben is the best 🤘
Man your videos are always best.
@@nitric75 I wouldn't consider the Mate 50 simply b/c I live in the states. I have the Huawei Watch GT Runner but I can't even take advantage of all it's features b/c the US ban.
@@hector9960 Yeah. I have mate40 pro for 2 years or more and i can lived without the google service. Maybe u need to run some specific apps but for me, its ok for daily use. What i need are all running fine. Even my samsung smartthing apps to control my soundbars remotely is also working fine. Google authenticator app is also running ok.
Aside from the devices, I appreciate your hard work more to giving us unbiased review of these 4 amazing devices.
Amazing comparison, Ben! Great to see a comparison w/o S22 Ultra and iPhone 14 Pro.
Hi Ben, is this authentic?
