A lot of the first album melodies are Brown. Lyrically the roses is pretty much all Brown too but thats quite obvious because The Seahorses and this are lyrically not like the Roses at all.
Killer vocals and guitar playling... Liam, John, Noel all have their feet firmly planted in the past. Ian Brown however seemed more experimental and forward thinking. For me, the biggest weakness of these recordings is the fact they are too rooted in the 60s and the album suffers for this reason. All that said its a huge buzz to hear Squire doing his thing ✌️ bet it'll be fantastic live ❤
I know what you mean personally I love that 60s psych sound and they’ve really leaned into it but yes if they had gone a different route it could’ve been interesting
It's a 7 out of 10 for me. It will probably sound great live. Don't like "One day at a time" "Bored and "Mother Nature's Song" Best are Rainbow, Wheel and You're not the only one.
I’m not saying they were, I’m saying the guitar playing has that more bluesy or typical rock sound rather than the jangly chiming feel of the roses debut
Definitely feel that we need extended versions of some of these, a live album maybe? Wish John had really let rip on one song at least, it's a short album!
Really question if I will continue listening to the oasis pod based on the inability to honestly or intelligently critique this album. It is absolute shite and deep down you all know it. To imply any of these songs would have made the cut on a roses album is delusional.
I can see why Ian didn't get on with John everyone knocks Ian but I think he was the true creative in the roses, he stopped them from being too 60s garage band. His solo stuff is better than anything John has done since Roses This is an ok lp, its meaningless though and that is the issue, I had to say John is no Johnny Marr, he seems like a snide to me
Liam and John are legends.
They were, this record takes that legend and drops a huge turd on it
This record is going to be the record of the year for me. I have been waiting for something like this for a while now. So fresh and new!
I agree we have been starved of out and out good rock and roll/ indie like this for a while
A lot of the tracks remind of what the world is waiting for and standing here. Just a fun album to listen to IMO
Yes definitely that kind of mid period between 1st and 2nd roses albums
i would give 4.5/5 for the album . fluent ,interesting ,funny ,it really grows
love 'em or hate 'em John and Liam are absolute legends!!

+1 on IB. Tops for me, even though he’s often poor, live. There’s no doubting his creativity, musically, lyrically and in terms of meaning.

Great album, the tracks I'm a wheel n you're not the only one are my favourites, can't wait to hear it live

Good shout
This is a massive album. Give it time.
2:47 The Seahorses weren't blues.

Its pretty shite. 🎉
Enjoy it if you enjoy it.
Shirehorses outtakes.
Shirehorses great band. Mark and Lard best songwriting duo since Nasty/ McQuickly

The album is shite.....let's be honest
So true. I think everyone wants to convince themselves it’s good but we all know this is simply not good enough
3 decent tracks that’s all.
