How can I change my Moodle front page?
As an administrator you have a number of options to make your front page look good. Your Moodle front page is known as Site home: this is the page non logged in users see. With Moodle cloud sites by default you just see the login page until you are logged in.
As an administrator you can decide whether logged in users are taken straight to the site home or to their personal dashboard. You can do this from Site administration / Appearance /Navigation/ The default is to go to the dashboard because this personal page gives information about a student or teacher's courses, deadlines and more. We'll explore the dashboard in another video. From Site administration / Front page /Front page settings we can change the long and short name of the site and add a summary.
This summary is only displayed in a side block however. You can then decide what to show on your front page for non logged in and logged in users. You can show the same for both or you can show nothing except your summary and perhaps
an image. We’ll show nothing for non logged in users and a list of available courses for logged in users. Read the documentation for more information.
We make sure Include a topic section is ticked here as that will enable us to add a summary in the central area of the front page- the Site home - and then when we click Save Changes and click to Site home, we turn on the editing from the cog icon top
right. Clicking the icon on the left brings up a text box where we can add a summary of the site and an image.
    To summarise:
    • The page logged in users first see can be defined from Site administration / Appearance/Navigation.
    • Site homepage can be changed from Site administration/ Front page /front page Settings
    • A summary and image may be added and relevant course information displayed.
