aw gretchen, just know your dad would be so proud of you for you making a change even if it’s uncomfortable you are brave to do so even if it’s forced! he wants you to be safe and happy! ❤
Gretchen, I wish I could give you a hug... The layers of grief are heartbreaking... But just imagine how proud he would be of you now seeing the beautiful house you bought and the relationship you've cultivated with Max. You're doing a great job at being an adult sweetie ❤
I have been watching you since the start and it’s so comforting to me when you share the emotional side of yourself!! I have the worst attachment problems and have never liked change, so it’s nice to have someone to relate to and feel less crazy. Cars are soooo hard to let go of :,)
Oh no! Gretchen I’m so sorry! 😭Car problems are so hard, especially when they’re unexpected! Praying that situation works out well! also totally valid to be emotional about all the memories! I'm a very sentimental person too and hate change, so I totally understand. :( I know they aren’t always the cutest looking vehicles, but I highly recommend I a Toyota or Honda! I have a Toyota and it’s almost at 300,000 miles and just now dying.
I also had a BMW and learned from my local dealership that with BMWs, once it hits 100,000 miles you pretty much have to completely rebuild it. I now have a Mercedes and it’s SOOO much better.
Ugh I’m so sorry. I feel your pain so deeply. I sobbed when I had to get a new car after my older car was totaled for the exact same reason. It broke my heart that my dad will never get to see my new car and be excited with me. Grief is so hard and hits at such random times. I like to think that when I play his favorite song driving alone in my new car that he’s riding shotgun with me. I tell him about new events or stupid things that have happened since he passed. Sounds silly but it makes me feel a little better like he’s still here.
Sending you so much love Gretchen!! I know exactly what you mean and just like always- you're helping so many people feel seen when you share. We love your content for the realness not the perfection (although you're the best at making it look effortless!). Maybe instead of looking at it in a sad way, you can see it as your dad looking out for you that you feel it in your gut it's time to get a new car. Sending you small things to fix instead of a major issue and risking your safety. Plus you'll feel him in your new car- in all kind of small ways! I know you recognize rainbows and ladybugs or butterflies, but you should look up angel numbers. That has helped me with my grief. Or signs like you mention. Thank you for sharing that saying "grief doesn't get easier, dealing with it does!". Happier side note- going to a hair consult today for color and extensions. Haven't felt confident with my hair and I ADORE yours. Your sparkle has never been brighter, you got this G!!!!
Ugh I understand the car thing. I need a new one and I get attached to stuff like that too. I’ve had it for 10 years and it’s just a reminder of all the seasons of life I’ve been through. Old relationships, all of the road trips, places I used to live, driving the next city over to see my now husband, driving back and forth to doctors appointments, to visit my baby in the NICU, bringing him home in that car. There are so many memories attached to places and objects. My husband is so not sentimental about objects and I’m the opposite lol. But you’ll have new amazing memories in your new car!
Time to ditch that car and DO NOT buy another high maintenance car like BMW. You can still get a really nice car. It doesn’t have to be a luxury car to be nice!
I commented before listening all that way. It’s ok to be attached but I promise you that your dad would rather you be in a safe and reliable car for all of your travels! ❤❤❤❤
You can get a luxury car still that isn’t soo high maintenance. European cars are way more expensive to fix and I feel like BMWs especially are known to be unreliable
I had a 2017 CRV that I bought as my first car and it was totaled last year by a drunk driver and I WAS SO UPSET over it so you are not crazy about your car, the attachment is real!
I completely understand not wanting to let your car go because of the memories with your dad ❤ We donated my dads car to a pastor at a local church that needed a car and we knew my dad would have been so proud. He was the most giving person we knew and it just felt right 😇
Gretchen I felt the exact same way about my last car. It was a 2006 and needed to go but it was my grandfather’s before he passed away and I was SO attached and emotional about getting rid of it. Once I got a new car I realized I would still have all my memories (and a reliable car)
Hey girlie its okay to feel the way you do. But remember your dad will follow you everywhere you go ❤ He will be proud of your next car and will be with you there too! I completely understand your attachment to all things and it will be okay❤️
the vid of you buying your car is how i found this channel all those years ago! life is hard enough as it is without car troubles. hope you find something better soon.
I absolutely get where you are coming from. I have struggled with mine the past 4 years and finally gave up after paying and paying like every month for service. Thinking of you beautiful!
Aww. Immediately started crying with you. Makes so much sense and I relate. Maybe it was your dad also pushing this from the other side, because he doesn’t want you on breaking down on the side of the road or worse❤ he’s helping you make the decision 😊
Oh sweetheart I understand about your car. But the memories you have with your Dad will always be yours and nothing can take that from you. Your Dad would want you safe and he would say it’s time for a new car babe. My heart hurts for you as grief never ends. But he is so proud of you I’m sure. ❤
A new car will be a great time for you to celebrate all the new times in your life. New house and Mass resident, newlywed to be, sooo many blessings. Maybe you can use something from your car as a keepsake??. For me, my mom 😇 got me an angel car clip when I first got my license. I keep it in every car I’ve had since then as a way to keep a piece of her memory with me with each new phase of life. Something like this may help you get through that transition.
Omg hi angel I am never this early!!! 💖just saw your IG story and can’t wait to see the new apartment!! It looks so cute. Give Brody a nose boop for me
Gretchen i really wish you would know that your emotions and feelings are valid and not stupid. Especially around your Dad. Dont stop being emotional or sentimental. Just keep being you. ❤
We had a 2018 x3 M40i and I would steer clear. It left us stranded on the side of the road at 70k miles. Thankfully under warranty. BUT we recently sold it and bought a 2014 BMW 535d (sedan) and were obsessed. I get the not wanting to let go of BMW. Not all of them are money pits. If you can afford to continue to buy used BMWs in cash with lower milage and keep for a couple years then re-sell and cycle through them before issues arise/ if they keep value, that’s an option. If you want European and reliable my husband has a 2009 Porsche Cayenne GTS with 140k miles and it has been the cheapest car to own no joke! They’re tanks.
It's understandable to someone who is emotional/sensitive that this situation is tough, is it life shattering probably not but it's a change. Change is hard, but you will get through it 💕 I hope your dad sends you a sign that he's watching over this new chapter and I hope you find something bigger and better for your next car! I wouldn't recommend BMW but I'm bias and don't like them 😅 hahaha best of luck!
I bought an X3 brand new....I understand the attachment. Loved it, still miss it, but I truly felt like it was cursed....traded it in at 35,000 miles and lost my butt on it, but I'll never do European again :(
Remember your car is fine to drive and keep as it is. All the things that system does are luxuries. Cars not that much older did not have those systems. You can check tire pressure yourself every 6 months or if it is pulling to one side. You will know if it is flat. Just mentioning because your only keeping that car option is not having to get it fixed. But once you get used to those extras they are harder to live without I know.
I would do a Lincoln if you still want luxury because it's made in the US so is better quality and cheaper to fix. Otherwise definitely do Jeep- also made in the US and so high quality!
I know you have many good and bad memories with this car but you must continue to flow with the new changes, your father is very proud of you and for everything you have achieved, please do not get a European car, the maintenance is very expensive, the another reason, they are having problems with their manufacturing due to lack of labor, etc. Get an car that doesn't cost so much to maintain. Don’t you recommend Mercedes Benz I have bad experience with them in another country. Advise yourself well. ♥️♥️♥️
Hey - you might consider leasing a BMW for a few years. You won’t have the long term Maintenance and Then when ur ready to start a family maybe buy a bigger suv. Good luck
Gretchen, I know you love your car but I think it's time :( It sounds like they're adding on extra things because they don't know what's actually wrong and it sounds like the parts are just going to continue breaking down due to bad quality. Your car should really just need basic maintenance at this mileage and minor repairs nothing major. I would get a secondary opinion from another repair shop but realistically you should invest in a car and brand that is known for reliability (Lexus, Toyota, Honda). Your dad would only want the best for you and for you to be safe and issue free❤
Your fatherwould want you in a safe car. Once the car reaches a certain age, the likelihood of leaving you stranded on the side of the road is higher. There is so much more crime in the United States than there ever has been so make sure you have a safe car with the amount of traveling that you do in your car. Maybe there is something you could take off your car to put in your new car to be close to your father. I know it’s hard. I don’t have either of my parents. He really would want you to be a very safe car. I just purchased a VW Atlas. Not a luxury car by any means. However, for the SE with technology, you get a Big Bang for your buck. Make sure to check them out. Should be in a bigger car too because of all the traveling you’re doing. We got the atlas mainly for our dog. 😂
Get a Tesla! I’ve had it for over 5 years and literally little to no maintenance!!!! I don’t like Tesla’s but ever since I got mine I can’t hate it you literally can’t hate the car!!
No oil changes which is nice. And regenerative breaking means less maintenance on the actual breaks. My husband works for Tesla and his take home vehicle is a Model Y. He really doesn't mind it.
aw gretchen, just know your dad would be so proud of you for you making a change even if it’s uncomfortable you are brave to do so even if it’s forced! he wants you to be safe and happy! ❤

Sunshine is yellow! Gretchen = Sunshine! ❤❤❤. Thanks for making my day brighter!!!❤❤❤

Get a Lexus! I have a Lexus RX it is SO nice and they are so easy to maintain and last forever. Good luck shopping!
Ugh I’m so sorry. I feel your pain so deeply. I sobbed when I had to get a new car after my older car was totaled for the exact same reason. I have an Acura SUV and it has the gorgeous brown interior! They’re worth giving a test drive!
I had a 2017 CRV that I bought as my first car and it was totaled last year by a drunk driver and I WAS SO UPSET over it so you are not crazy about your car, the attachment is real!
Get a Subaru! They’re the safest and best cars and you can absolutely customize it to be the way you want in terms of light interior!
❤❤❤❤ sending you hugs girly, your dad will always be with you! I totally understand how you feel
I’m crying with you Gretchen😭Love you so much. I’ve watched you since 2013. I know exactly how you’re feeling about your car. Sending so much love 🩷🩷🩷
10000% approve of the yellow scuba !!💛
I completely understand the attachment and I’m similar! Just remember the good stuff
❤ your hair both ways! Lucy’s hair looked fabulous too!❤❤❤
I completely understand not wanting to let your car go because of the memories with your dad ❤ We donated my dads car to a pastor at a local church that needed a car and we knew my dad would have been so proud. He was the most giving person we knew and it just felt right 😇
For 1000$ I would just keep the car for the mems and also buy a new one!😊😂
Gretchen I felt the exact same way about my last car. It was a 2006 and needed to go but it was my grandfather’s before he passed away and I was SO attached and emotional about getting rid of it. Once I got a new car I realized I would still have all my memories (and a reliable car)

Love your hair color!!!
This is my FAVORITE haircolor at 19:00 mins
the vid of you buying your car is how i found this channel all those years ago! life is hard enough as it is without car troubles. hope you find something better soon.
Yellow is the color of your podcast! ☀
I absolutely get where you are coming from. I have struggled with mine the past 4 years and finally gave up after paying and paying like every month for service. Thinking of you beautiful!

Gretchen i really wish you would know that your emotions and feelings are valid and not stupid. Especially around your Dad. Dont stop being emotional or sentimental. Just keep being you. ❤
I feel very attached to my car for the same reasons. I'll be dreading the day I have to get a new one. I feel the exact same way. Sending support
Good morning Gretchen how are you happy Friday morning to you and I enjoy your channel and you are amazing supporter
I knew it had to do with dad
I feel you
Totally get that
Hang in there
We had a 2018 x3 M40i and I would steer clear. It left us stranded on the side of the road at 70k miles. Thankfully under warranty. I knew you were going to say your Dad. I have feelings like that with my Mom. It isn't stupid. Big hugs
Awe I’m so sorry!
If you’re wanting to stay luxury Lexus is def the way to go. Such a better brand, reliable, lasts.
You should check out the Lexus RX350. Lexus is known for being reliable cars
It's understandable to someone who is emotional/sensitive that this situation is tough, is it life shattering probably not but it's a change. Don’t get another bmw!!!
And no European vehicles, because they have a lot of problem to built new cars.
Hey Gretchen Geraghty I love your videos so much and please put a heart on my comment and I hope you’re having a great time with your fiancé max .❤🎉😊
Some luxury cars such as range rovers, Audis and maybe bmws, have issues such as computer issues and probably won’t last that long
Get a Lexus Nx 300 or 350! #1 luxury car and has best reputation for least amount of maintenance needed
Time to book a few more sessions a week with your therapist! And maybe tweak your meds! These types of breakdowns are not normal!
If you want to be financially responsible get a Lexus or Acura if you need the luxury.
They always low ball trades u could sell it outright even with the computer issue and someone will buy it for more
Hey - you might consider leasing a BMW for a few years. You won’t have the long term Maintenance and Then when ur ready to start a family maybe buy a bigger suv. Good luck
RIP Dan 😔
You need someone to go with you who knows cars!
Cut out a little piece of fabric or something small from the old car and put it in the new car!
Gretchen, I know you love your car but I think it's time :( It sounds like they're adding on extra things because they don't know what's actually wrong and it sounds like the parts are just going to continue breaking down due to bad quality. ps you should look at Lexus RX, Toyota Venza, Toyota Crown Signia. (Toyota and Lexus are the same thing, but Lexus is the luxury line)
Don’t trade it in, it’s worth so much more not selling it to that dealership
BMW’s are VERY EXPENSIVE to maintain. They’re great automobiles, but expensive! 😎 Maybe your next Auto should be AMERICAN 🤔🇺🇸
Your fatherwould want you in a safe car. Once the car reaches a certain age, the likelihood of leaving you stranded on the side of the road is higher. Make sure you get a car that does not have the run flats.
Only 130k miles! And that many repairs! Ditch it!
G, Your hair looks fantastic! Because it’s real and natural, with the fake hair, not so much, sorry 😔
Buy a domestic car. They are just as nice as imports but not as expensive to buy or fix.
You should leave your natural hair. Looks fake and your not letting your real hair breath and grow
BMWHave a lot of problems. Get a Lexus !
Love your honesty Gretchen 🩷 you will not only adapt but thrive in a new car!
I’m crying with you🥹😭 you’re so real for that, no shame girlfran💛
