I appreciate the critical review, especially the tinting. I respectfully think you should check your eyesight with a colorblind test, the reticle is pretty clearly green and the fiber optics on the red dot are also clearly green. This could also be why your struggling to find the reticle.
i have one of these and its dope, only time you have an issue is being in dark aiming to light, i have irons for that. you cant beat no buttons and no fuss. you can send it back and get the tritium replaced also.
Yes I have irons that co-witness and are night sights. If I want a suppressor boom done. It all works plus let’s not forget that this is a sight for the bad peoples up close. Not for the the bad peoples 700 yards away or Elk at 600. Ha. Wake up from a dead sleep with the bad peoples in your bedroom or hallway and good luck.
Im so on the fence about this. You compared the negative visibility issues to an ACOG, which is interesting because mine is incredibly bright in basically all situations to me (even from dark indoors looking into bright sunlight). Would you say if someone finds the ACOG sufficiently bright that they would find this RMR sufficient as well?
I had the same issue with the purple coating for the green dual illum models. The amber dual illum RMRs lack that heavy tint but have an amber reticle which also washes out
I only have one of these left on any of my guns. I found that using a weapon light completely washes out the dot in a dark room with an X300 going. The one I have left is on a daughter mount on my SCAR. Good Video.
hmmm. and i thought proper use of this sight called for both eyes open. that and absolute witness sights and seems like you have a pretty robust trust system.
The triangle is my favorite all time reticle. My first reflex sight was an Acog from the 90s with the amber triangle and I have found that is is way better than a circle for long distance accuracy and fine aiming.
I could not agree with you more. Id like to add though if you are shooting competitions like 2 gun or steel challenge its a good low maintenance option.
It's just like the dual illuminated iron sights, they suck, not because of the combo but the shape of the carrier doesn't allow for light collection in all directions.
In a word, yes. I have a brutal astigmatism and I still run an old ACOG reflex (same tech) with a 12.9 Amber triangle and get no bloom. Looked at one of these with the green triangle and same, totally crisp. Picking one up today.
Great illustration of the pros and cons. I almost made the mistake of ordering this one because I initially liked the battery-less option, but I didn't think of the points you covered. Thanks.
I have one of these piggy backed on an Acog. No cracking after several range trips and being transported. I have the amber reticle on mine and 9/10 it’s almost too bright. Outdoors on the range shooting under cover and it’s still been pretty bright and indoors ranges as well. In direct sunlight it’ll wash out targets(some tape can fix that) and in doors with low lights it still gathers enough to project the reticle, tbh I never seen the tritium on it. I also don’t larp around at 3 am with all my lights off in a banana hammock thong. With all that being said the dot is huge, best suited for close proximity lets say 25 yards and in and like I mentioned before it will wash out targets. The tint is heavy which I’ve kinda grown used too, it really doesn’t distort colors and isn’t really noticeable when running 2 eyes but if I would of had an option I would have rather gotten a rmr2.
I’ve used 3 of these exact RMRs one on a Benelli M4 , SCAR, AK all have 1000s rounds and I have never had any cracking issues, otherwise it’s fiber optic it’s going to wash out like all other fiber optic red dots.
I wish I would have saw this before I bought it. Now I'm stuck with a rmr that the dot disappears when I use it for a home protection sight with flash light on in dark. I wish I would of just been patient and ordered the eotech
I have one, bought it used, wow I could not resell this with a clear conscience. Strictly relegated to a 22 plinker now. I can’t imagine a scenario where this makes sense.
Have a Phase5 SBA4 Camo Velcro arm wrap strap and So Happy great Products. Sry not Rmr related Wish I had my Glock23 milled for Rmr Next handgun will be a precut Milled slide. Like the G26 or 43x is Nice for my needs.
I bought this one without knowing it didn’t have a battery. I was pretty bummed out. I’m thinking of making a tiny LED with battery kit to attach to the side of the optic. Just a tiny amout of light at the ready made a huge difference.
@@theincredible9168 it doesn’t have a battery. It’s fiber + tritium (that’s the dual). I would recommend coughing up a couple hundred more bucks for something with a battery though.
I want to order this rmr, but hesitant with all the negative reviews... what recticle do you have? I also have a olight with laser, so im not too worried about indoor/night time shooting..
they need to make a dual illuminated RCR with more powerful tritium & clearer glass. that rubbery coating on the ACOG's fiber is what they should use instead of this plastic they have on the RMR. the thing with battery powered optics is cold kills them quick. doesn't matter what the battery life is.
This is my favorite RMR for my Benelli M4. The chevron is great for shotguns. Cover the target with it at closer range and use the tip at distance, for more precision at longer ranges. I probably wouldn’t use this on a pistol or rifle, but it’s perfect for shotguns.
I only get the amber dot. Exactly what we had in the U.S.M.C., and love everyone I own. Most people’s problems with tint or unable to adjust has never been my problem. Shot these on saws, M240B, M27 IARs, and my own pistols. Love them. Plus I would never get this rmr with a green triangle. Personal preference. Never seen it with super purple tint on glass. So interesting. Guess it’s all personal preference. Seen these hold up really well with training.
@@rawbeejay The green is only an issue with this specific fiber + tritium RMR because they have to put a weird purple tint on the glass for some reason. Any other green dot reticle that is battery powered won't have that issue. And from what I can gather, the amber colored fiber + tritium RMRs are a lot better to look through than the green. The tint is blueish and nowhere near as bad
Anyone have any experience with this optic that has astigmatism? I’m having trouble finding a shop locally to look at these pistol red dots . I’d like to see the new holosun reticle as well as the rmr09. Locally all the red dots they have are 6 moa or bigger . Live in Tampa just can’t find anywhere that has what I want to see .
I owned one but had it on a competition g34, and it worked great for that purpose. Would not recommend for your weapon when the unknown intruder is in your house at 3am.
I have a 12.9 moa green triangle version in the case with paperwork and warranty card. I have very subtle spider cracks around the screws for the fiber optic strip and contacted Trijicon last week, they sent me a shipping label to send it in for repair but I haven’t sent it yet...I don’t want to be without it for the 6 weeks they said...plus it doesn’t effect the function at all. It’s under warranty for another 10+ years, so not really a rush to get a minor cosmetic flaw fixed. I am debating selling it to get an FDE model
Greetings everyone! I proceed as a common practice, to verify reviews before I purchase anything unless it's an emergency. 🤔I was attracted to the fact that it is not a battery powered optic. RMR/red dots suck on handguns when they get wet or you go from say a cold outside to a heated room. The moisture formed on the glass makes an RMR useless during a gunfight. They are a fad and a gimmick. It’s a crutch to poor shooting technique with iron sights.

I will gladly get rid of your least favorite RMR
I've seen older ACOGs have their fiber optic pipe crack into a million pieces, but they still work fine.
The ones i used at bootcamp have gone through so much abuse i cant even begin to fathom it. Acog scopes are nuts.
I wish they put this reticle on their LED version. It's such a precise aiming point. I find it better than a red dot.
Especially the rmr red dot. It’s always just a blurry smear of a dot.
@@sturdybutterI think you have astigmatism. RMR dots are perfectly round if you take a picture of it.

Yea, navy seals across the country use the RMR on real world missions, but it doesn’t meet YOUR standards.

I think he meant the tritium when he was saying that.
I had the same issue with the purple coating for the green dual illum models. The amber dual illum RMRs lack that heavy tint but have an amber reticle which also washes out
Seemed like a good choice for a SHTF with the whole no batteries thing but I’m glad I saw this review before buying one
If someone is planning for a SHTF situation, they probably have a year or two worth the batteries saved up anyway.
I have several and am glad I bought them instead of just trusting the reviews first.
Battery will last you 10 years easily. 2 batteries will outlast the tritium.
