In the complex realm of human psychology, superiority breeds disconnection, inferiority fosters overcompensation, and God-like aspirations defy societal norms. Persecution fuels irrational suspicions, parental echoes linger in development, and horror polarizes views of women. Guilt burdens, while martyrdom seeks attention through self-sacrifice. These psychological intricacies shape our perceptions, urging self-awareness and empathy in navigating the complex tapestry of the human mind.
2 days ago I basically perfectly guessed my good friend's Martyr(or Hero I guess) complex by going through my thoughts in similar situations. And through out all day she was like "HOW DO YOU KNOW ME THAT MUTCH". Turns out we both have the same thing going on, just without the "complaining" part. It was actually quite a nice and wholesome moment. I liked it. Helping people is cool
What is it called when you assume you're superior to strangers, see yourself as equal to most people you do get to know, but inferior and unworthy to talk to a specific idolized person?
Definitely have suffered the guilt complex for my entire life. From a young age I was taught that I was always the reason for my mothers problems and my step fathers. This turned into my 2 step brothers and my brother also blaming me for all they're wrong doings. It became a part of me. Every single thing in my life regardless of what it is. Is my fault. I try not to think that way, but it always comes back for me anyway.

@Toast2005 it really is tough. But it makes people much more tough than the average Joe. I pushed myself into a career selling life insurance. It works quite well. When I don't make a sale, I write down what I think we're my flaws on my pitch. Every week I check what flaws were listed more than once and try to avoid those ones in particular. I save all the flaws for a total of a month before finding out if I missed any and work on fixing any of those too. My pitch is quite solid. That's something most people wouldn't do, simply because most people can't blame themselves hard enough to fix a problem until it turns around and tries to kill them.

Just curious, but the example you gave of persecution complex sounds off to me - you said the paranoia-like feeling (my words, not yours) is usually irrational and exaggerated but when women are afraid a person walking behind them at night might harm them there is a precedent for that. Wouldn't a better example be when students believe their bad grades are a result of the teachers' personal feelings about them?
I think it’s interesting. However I could argue that for the number of women that end up getting harmed in that situation compared to the number of kids that actually get worse grades because they’re teachers don’t like them are not disproportional. For example my sister doesn’t walk alone at night because there’s the thought something may go wrong and a student doesn’t disrespect their teacher because it could have a negative impact on their grade. I think what is getting misconstrued is that you are taking these complexes as inherently negative when a persecution complex ends up saving women(or student) from getting in a bad situation is using it for good👍🏻
I was thinking the same thing. I wouldn’t called being catious while walking at night a complex, just part of the female upbringing/experience in a way lol. But of course theres different levels and it doesn’t have to be exclusive, women with a persecution complex will probably be much more scared of walking home at night
