Speaking from a Nigerian perspective, in the 21st century, when dating you're free to do whatever suits you...ask the girl out, go on dates, have sex before marriage, total freedom. The answers the guy was giving is what the society expects of you but no one is really forcing or judging you if you choose to do things your own way as long as you act responsibly.
Having multiple wives is acceptable traditionally but it now depends on wether your religions allows it or not. If you're Muslim, you're allowed. if you're a Christian, you're not expected to have more than one wife. Even if you're a Muslim and you did court wedding with your wife, you're not expected to anyone else, if you do, she can make you have serious legal issues.
Thank you! It's like James is trying to live up to the stereotypes and nonsense expectations. Embarrassing Nigeria on an international stage😂
In Nigeria people prefer going on a one on one date , cause guys are expected to buy the lady whatever she wants to eat or drink if she brings her friends the bills will be on the guy to pay for everything , besides that you might be at risk of losing your date to a friend you bring along 🤭
Sudan is an Islamic state, which is why the dating period is also considered courting.
@Rock_ Lee its not a must, its an option and strictly for those who can afford to take good care of those families he made, there are conditions in islam under which a man is allowed to marry more than one, though most polygamous men dont look at that, they just use it to please them selves. Not all muslim men have more than one wife
In Nigeria, It becomes a very serious issue to get pregnant before marriage
It's a disgrace to the family of the lady
South Africa is so diverse and I feel like the lady didn't represent us well. She tried but if she spoke from her cultural side which I assume is Hindu she would have shared more
We wonder why. It would have been interesting to learn about their culture.
Yep. 1st question nje, lol for most of us s*x before marriage is not taboo and hasn't been for a very long time.
@@MatNch then she was diverse in her answers cos she answered that question according to her culture. And others according to other cultures in SA as you know we're diverse with many different cultures she couldn't have possibly answered for every culture. She said nothing wrong she just went forward if its true for SA and made an example with one of many cultures in SA as proof in the little time she had, maybe if she had hours maybe she could've maybe gave more comprehensive answers.
If she spoke more from her cultures side She would have been representing her cultures side Hindu not SA and I believe those questions were for countries not cultures. And I doubt Hindus do lobola and polygamy too so on those question according to her culture she would've had to stay back and not move forward. Then whoever is watching would think in SA there's no lobola or polygamy, kanti she wasn't representing SA but her culture. I think She did her best in representing our diverse country SA not Hindu!
In South Africa we are so diverse and dating differs according to our cultures. The sex before marriage is not really a taboo in my culture. You just have to grow up a bit then you are allowed to do it but our parents wish that we can get married before we have kids. However, when you get to my age they may pressurize you to have a child even though you are not married. Here sex before marriage is an issue of faith. Polygamy is very common in our country but in my own culture it's no longer practiced , only the royal families still practise it. It's a taboo for a girl to ask a guy out but nowadays people just do it. When it comes to lobola if a girl is a virgin or doesn't have a child and she is educated they may charge more for lobola.
I'm Zulu. I just wish the indian lady would have spoken of her culture and stop misrepresantation of other people's culture and customs
I;m Zulu and married to an Indian woman...so, I understand what you mean.
@@EquaxionX Mfo kaMsomi I meant no disrespect to any Zulu man married to an Indian lady or the lady herself, but she could have elaborated further and precise the process as to why it's necessary to go through that process and in this case the context was amiss
She's still South african and grew up all her life there so she's allowed to speak on the cultures of her country
@@lizlovesafrobeats key word from my point was"I JUST WISH"
I'm Nigerian. What James said about making a lady you're dating believe that you have to marry her makes so much sense now. It's annoying as hell...suddenly the term "Yoruba demon" makes so much sense.
Nearly everything James said is triggering! 😂
😂😂
i don't know where it was from but someone said this about polygamy .
if a man has 10 wife's he knows that he is the father.
if a women has 10 husbands, she doesn't know who the father is.
That Nigerian guy is probably speaking from his own / igbo culture perspective. I’m Nigerian Christian and I am thinking what is a He talking about. 😀🤷🏿♂️
Fr!!😭
Y’all always find a way to bring tribe into this😒which one is “Igbo culture perspective” like there aren’t Igbo Christians just talk about his perspective
The dowry is like a thank you for trusting me to take care of your daughter, imma treat her like a Queen type beat. A drowsy is buying but appreciation
Supposed to, but its money-making practice now. The expectation on men remained the same but women are bringing less to the relationship.
Because SA is so diverse I wish we as South Africans would refrain from participating in these types of surveys and debates where only 1 South African is expected to represent all our peoples.
Like it or not, any question posed will usually result in multiple answers and perspectives.
With ❤ from SA
Hey fun fact, so I live in Durban and all the Indian girls(3 girls) I know are dating Black guys and the Indian guys(2 guys) are dating Black girls! 😄🔥 got reminded of this just since the South African is Indian
Hmm we’ve only heard of the Indians when we were shown Ghandi’s house and the food tour. South Africa’s diversity is refreshing. We’d love to hear live stories between the two.
21:08 That's true as a Nigeria man i can attest to that. We are expected to take care of our wives And the woman we date.
I think the dating culture of asking of dates is mainly for North America
So, no arrangements or “pick me up t this time”?😂
@@TheDemouchetsREACT In nigeria we still ask the woman out on dates. The men still ask. It is not always a group thing. Actually usually it is not.
Not true. Not sure which country you are from though, maybe where you are from there is no dating. Not sure how you get to marriage, then. I like aspects of the Sudan dating culture too of not going out on a date completely alone.
@@chimakalu41 True but there are guys that always tell the woman to come to their house.
I had a roommate back in university, his father had 4 wives and they are stayed in different countries. All Nigerian, his mum stayed in Dublin and his other mums stayed in Dubai, Australia, spain and USA. Bro could visit any of them and He is Fulani. The dad has mad money
In Namibia 🇳🇦 we pay dowry as well. Paying the dowry is the traditional wedding.
Am actually from rwanda 🇷🇼 😊
I am Sudanese engagement is dating. We get engaged first then we get to know each other
What generally happens if you end up not liking the person?
The nigeria brother is going offff
In south africa among the ' blacks'' its the norm.for men to have arural wife and an urban wife .
😂😂😂 this is wild
Sudan is a Muslim majority country. Dating I think is haram
There are no prostitutes there?
No mistresses or infidelity among married men ?
@@dubemellit2932 underground yes. You can't even sleep with a woman in a hotel if you are not able to verify that she is your wife.
What was the weather like the day that those people in the video shot their episode?
In sudan the reason of not dating is following Islamic laws so it's either arranged or if you like a gal you talk to your parents and parents will talk and get you married if she accepts
Am from uganda but being Moslem i think that's how it goes in their country
South Africa would Encompass all those countries.
Can you do ',Spotify tour Jamaica.
From a South African, please listen to If i die young lyrics from Loyiso.
Even though we are modernised i think every tribe in africa have their own way of dating for example my tribe konkombas from northern ghana is very very different the guy pays money and some stuffs for dating only and and marriage too has it own prde price to be paid so it differ from tribe to tribe
No disrespect to the lady representing South Africa, but we have too many cultures, for one person to give a definite answer to most of the questions that were asked.
The Indian lady is talking about black South Africa instead of Indian culture.
I am so scared she is saying it right or not 😂😭 she tried.
Muslims are allow to marry only four wives if he is capable of taking care of them both financially and emotionally, if he can not then marry only one, so there is a condition to marring multiple wives.
Isn't it up to 7 wives?
@@abster4709 no four
7 wives
A point is Africa as a whole have conservative culture but that’s changing since the turn of the 20th century
Oh my god, this video has now more views then the original :D
The husband in a polygamous marriage takes absolute responsibility of taking care of all the wives & children. ABSOLUTE RESPONSIBILITY. How then is it 'double standard' when the man provides ALL the wives & kids need but the woman provides absolutely nothing (not even for herself) & yet wants to be able to have other men?
Polygamy is not for everyone but those who practice it should understand how it works.
Facts, also another thing to consider is men are largely territorial and conflict is inevitable in such a situation, and imagine if a woman in a polygamous relations get pregnant, then she won't know who the father is, all the men will be cut off from having sex and she'll expect all the men to look after her.
Polygamy as a concept only works with one man and multiple woman.
.. The question is being flipped for men to say why are men the only gender 'allowed' to have as a many wives yet it is frowned upon when the roles are reserved. I think every woman in a polygamous marriage is not looking to have other husbands.
I am going to look for a Nigerian husband😂😂😂😂 my ex husband did not provide for me and the kids! So i need some spoiling
The Rwanda girl is not really into the culture. She has western style brain.
She is right tho. That's a dating life in Rwanda
@20:02 Sierra I've mentioned this one before, it's more fun to date the Indian coz you don't gotta pay Lobola😅😅
but shes SA so you'll still pay haha, jokes on u
Its culture, the dowery thing!!!
Dowry is appreciation to the girls parents for rising an amazing lady, who will bore you children, cook ,and care for you and make your house a home
The indian speaks for herself
Lol love yall
pls react to any of trevor noah videos
Please look into the UKs policy on forcibly sending asylum seekers, including children to Rwanda
Thank you for replying to me it means a lot knowing you read our messages
But Rwanda is an amazing country. Definitely better than the countries the asylum seekers are running from, so what's the issue? Have you seen Kigali - it's beautiful! And quite honestly the Rwandans in my view are the most hospitable and peaceful people in the whole African continent. It is also quite developed although limited to it's capital and major cities
@@jayo7812 sending unaccompanied children to a country, not of their choosing, and also the UK government are sending women that have been trafficked into prostitution to Rwanda against their wishes
@@kevingrant7098 I've not heard a single case of unaccompanied children being sent to Rwanda. This is new. Could you please send a credible source? I was in Kigali recently and there were a number of Ukraine refugees and they are well settled and were even taking part in the president's green run which is a marathon for the environment that's done every month to promote sustainability. Saw them walking around too undisturbed. There were also a number of Afghan refugees - they seemed well adjusted too. Even saw some of them just chilling at restaurants. Also, haven't heard a single case of prostitution. Could you send a credible link/source for this as well kindly? Rwanda is not known for this and has pretty strict govt laws - Kagame is pretty strict. Also, as I understand the ones who've gone to Rwanda so far have gone willingly as I don't think the country would accept people who won't even get on the plane and are unwilling.
We meet people through our cultures sometimes u can choice but if u are like a princess like me I can can choose our second wife
I need 3
I don't know what to think,we all know waiting for marriage is thought to be ideal but we all know that's not reality, many people think it's great to be hooking up with many partners but when it's time to marry trust that men don't want a wife that's hooked up with many
A couple of years back South Africa passed legislation that allowed women to have more than one husband just like how men can have more than one wife
In the xhosa community my friends say they hve bfs multiple...1 for r3nt 1 for cellph0ne 1 for clothes etc.. so dating in SA is complex
We can’t keep up😅
@@TheDemouchetsREACT This sounds like some Nigerians too. One bf for something different. lol (for School- cos he's smart; for Rent and upkeep; and the serious guy they intent to marriage). lol
@Beverley Barends I also heard of that, they apparently called them the minister of financw, minister of transportation, housing because men must provide all these for them but Xhosa's that are in my circle deny this, they say it's a stereo type.
My own Xhosa friends admitted to this
The Rwandan girl sounds Kenyan (accent)
React to Lloyiso - seasons
Sudan have many cultures within
Please react to Lloyiso - if I die young 🥺🔥
Please react to Lloyiso - if I die young . You won't regret 🥺🫂
In Sudan, dating is very illegal. You have the girl beside you when you are married, and there are many ways you can find a wife in Sudan. You go to the father's house to ask for a hand in marriage.
Both Sudan 🇸🇩 and South Sudan 🇸🇸 are religious countries, but the south are majority Christians, but they practise Islamic cultures, so you won't be surprised
So you use Islamic laws
even though they say , its not being bought .
its in my mind definitely being bought , the marriage is between u and her , not between u and there family .
why would they need 2 get anything for the sake of a marriage that is not about them.
he and his future wife can use that cow themselves , so if anything you should get a cow from both there family's instead of one family giving it 2 the other .
which 2 me definitely seems like a transaction.
The "Sudanese" guy is not Sudanese....He's actually Palestinian!
polygamy for women mmmhh i have one husband i cant even handle him let alone many of them im just thinking of my vahuha no thank you. i guess men can do everyday and they fine
The Indian south african lady doesn't speak for us please yoh
3:31 could have done better with South African representation…given that they chose a South African who belongs to one of the South African tribes y’all could have got a better insight …
does this notion of a lady having many men even a question really. The Rwanda rep is just so millennial. There is a reason why even a lioness can only have one Lion at a time. The Lion on the other end can have as many lionesses as he wants. Women are built to only love one man at a time. It's God's work. Saying the rule should apply to both is just wrong. I support equality and equity for all women but the line has to be drawn at some point. Ask her if she can have ten men or have kids with ten men and maintain her dignity in African society?
