River Humber | North East | Cod Fishing | Last trip before Christmas

- Grimsby was on my way home so I though the River Humber deserved a visit. I wanted a cod...and being disappointed further up north I had to give it a go.
Although this trip didn't go as I planned I had an amazing time, as I have in all of my fishing adventures this year! if you did enjoy this please consider subscribing to the channel, and I promise you now there is alot more to come from this channel in the years to come.

Enjoyed the video thakyou for your time and effort. Bay 27 is the one everyone tries to get apparently. They are doing well with squid and crab cart wings. You need to be there early to get a bay. 👍

Try Barton on Humber. Have a look at Verns Sea Fishing hes same side of river but higher up it looks like somewhere near Barton on Humber. He had a 6lb cod 2nd cast. 👍👍

How I remember reading about fishing the Humber estuary 50 years ago when they caught codling and cod inside Spurn Point point on black lug.
I used to travel all over in those days but now never more than 20 miles. It just ain't what it used to be. 😦😦😦

I've fished on and next to that jetty a fair few times years ago, and it's a great mark for codling, loads of snags, and the outward tide can pull you under the jetty. I've had some good place and bass from there too. If you can get on the jetty sneakily, you can get a lot of cod. You can fish that mark all day as the tide doesn't drop that low, from there up to Immingham.
Cheers mate. I'm planning a trip up there soon again. Wasn't sure if you could go on the jetty, but might chance it next time 🤔
@@Delintrepid It's a bit dodgey, on the left side, but the right is as safe as you can get, plus there are railings at the end to lean your rods against just put a towel under the rods as it's rough. There's room for a tripod too. It's best to do it on a late tide as i've been caught by security once out of around 20 times fishing there.

joe my friend don't beat yourself up you did great just wasn't to be so look at it as you gotta go back for that big cod you and everyone wants you to catch you can do it you will do it stay positive mate maybe if you can travel a bit further up north to Redcar im sure you'd have no trouble im looking to get up there at some point in the new year myself tight lines mate👍

Hi Joe, Great content mate.
I agree fishing in Essex is not the most entertaining but any day out fishing is very relaxing. I am from Southend so obviously i have to travel at least 2 hrs either way to stand a chance of something different than Whiting or small bass.
The structure to the your right in the vid are you not allowed to fish off that ?

Go to the lower numbers 19 and down on the big tides with 19 being the hot bay and higher numbers on the smaller tides but for future reference to get a bay you will have to be there at low water to stand a chance of getting a good bay

@@Delintrepid yes......my mate caught one.....was late 80s tho !!!.... was a huge surprise when he got it in..... around 7-10lb as I remember 👍
I'm fom humberston the North Wall is btiliant for cod I got 2 there in the space of 3 hours some poeple have had 9 or even 12 cpd from there give it a try next time your down here

Ps the mark you was fishing on a slack tide from 5.0 meters to 60 metres you can fish 24 hrs a fisherman’s dream I hear you say 🤣 and to your right 250 yards is a good mark called the yellow cross as three is one marking a underwater gas pipe I believe so you wasn’t far off 👍

Near Stallingborough, Grimsby DN41 8DB there's a road to the left which look like a refuse place with a traffic light one way system just go straight through it and the road will follow it through where the pot holes are on the video. Hope that makes sense. Cheers for watching Joe
