Amazing video, I live in looe and the Banjo is my go to mark. Whiting and dogs are pests here! 26 whiting last Monday evening, conger and rays are my targets!

To tell the difference between small spotted catsharks (reclassified from lesser spotted dogfish around 1908) and Nursehounds (also known as bull huss) have a look at the nasal flaps. On the lesser, though the fish may be bent back to expose a larger nasal cavity, the nasal flaps are rounded and tightly tucked. On the bull huss, the nasal flaps are much looser - without being bent back, which should be avoided - and there is a distinct point in the lower corner on the outside edge of both nostrils. Both species have teeth and, while the bull huss usually has large, dark spots, small spotted catsharks may occasionally have them too. In some areas, there are concentrations where lessers with larger spots are actually quite common.

Great spot I have had some nice bass from off there .

How much does it cost to fish here? I wanted to do some night fishing off banjo but i cant find ths information online and its really not worth an hour drive at night to find out it needs booking

And that is the problem in your hands there. Dogfish Dogfish Dogfish Dogfish nothing else gets a look in. I fished all around there. Or bullhuss. Same thing. When I was in Ireland it was either thornbacks or dogfish, however if you spun you get plenty of bass and sea trout . I like to eat the fish I catch.

I was fishing around these areas for a few years. Conclusion - dead waters around Essex. Hardly any fish there. Better fishing on S-W, Devon, Cornwall

Velvet’s have been around 30 years that I know . I use to long line out of pier . I use to slip my boat on the left hand side of pier and shoot 2000 hooks .

enjoyed that thanks ! used to have night pass for Walton many years ago, never got to fish Clacton, now live and fish Pakefield which is nothing like days of old sadly.

I fish that stretch a fair bit. If ever you wanna come down with us your more than welcome mate. It was mega busy that day all the way along. We were further down towards clacton.
