**Update** Since recording this video I have put even more time into the game -- close to 50 hours now -- and I wanted to add a small update with regards to my thoughts presented in the video concerning Hero Combos. For the most part my thoughts remain the same when it comes to damage dealing Hero Combos; however, I have come across some more utility focused ones that are actually quite good. One in particular that has been fantastic is an AoE heal + defensive buffs that requires both Francesca and Falward to be in your party. The heal has so far always been a full heal despite its "moderate heal" description and costs 3 SP per character to us -- it has single handedly made those two permanent staples in my party. I'll update this comment if anything else changes. -- Roz
This video made my subscribe. I appreciate the negative aspects you mentioned at the end of the video. Feels like many just don't talk about it that much especially the localization part. The others can be fixed with patches but the localization part irks me the most.
About inventory space...I just wish developers made it into 2 modes, "I want to enjoy the game" mode, that have no restrictions on inventory space and "I want to spend eons in menus and manage my inventory" mode, for those who want to encounter as many inconviniences as possible in the name of realism in a fantasy game.
I was really looking forward to playing this on the Switch for portability purposes but I've heard nothing but horrible remarks about this version. I loved the Suikoden series growing up and really hope they can patch it up to make it worth getting for the Switch.
always good to talk on the problems, those who only do positive or only want positives are just afraid of saying the product they want to consume isn't great, cause they know how it looks on them
I was so bummed when I realize hero combos are just flat out worse, i hope they patch them to actually be worth it cause they're a really cool idea and would be nice to actually take them into consideration when forming my party.
tbf even in previous suikoden games most combos were bad with the only benefit of row or column aoe. but yeah disappointed that there's not a lot of aoe hero combos this time.
I'm loving the game so far, but the localization for English is truly bad. Not the voices, but internet lingo has no place in a medieval fantasy setting (Chud, for example).
I haven't played this game yet BUT if it's anything like Suikoden, I think you'll like it. Suikoden was the game that got me into RPGs. After playing Suikoden I went on to play Wild Arms, both Lunar games, FF6 (which is probably my fav of the series), and many others. I think Suikoden 1 and 2 is getting a remaster. If you buy Eiyuden Chronicle and like it, I ask that you give Suikoden a go. It's so good!
@@joshakins4923 I really do think you'll like it. An easy way to describe it is you are rebelling against an evil empire and you have to recruit a bunch of people in the hopes of succeeding. Your ultimate goal is to get everyone. In Suikoden there were 108 Stars of Destiny. I'm guessing this game there will be 100. In most instances you'll have to do something to get a new character be it a favor or be at a certain level. It's a lot of fun. What's cooler is watching your base of operations grow as you bring in more and more characters.
That would be surprising since they are generally one of the few companies that has done great work in past -- hopefully this game isn't indicative from what we can expect from their future titles.
@@matthewdunaway7622 a good chunk of their stuff that isn't called Nier (8-4.jp/gameography/). They got a lot of flak for FE Awakening too if I remember correctly.
There is a point-of-no-return causing everything to become missable, but other than that I haven't encountered anything thus far. That being said, there was a bug early on that I'm not sure is fixed or not with regards to recruiting one character -- basically, there is a blonde girl in Daphan whose name will be ??? when you first go there; if you talk to her before initiating the quest to recruit her it can bug out and lock you out of her.
Thanks for the video! Question: Is any of the recruitable characters missable? Definitely going to try to get them all but if any is missable i might need to find like a guide or something before I start my playthrough.
I'm not sure yet. I've been keeping notes on all characters with portraits and going back to previously explored areas constantly after major story events to find everyone. While not related to missable characters, I am pretty sure there are a few locked behind mini-games as I've met 5 so far like that but have not yet been able to recruit.
bro the inventory fulling fast is the same as suikoden originals games probably you are just not used to this but for me is just as playing suikoden again with more graphycs
Please pay attention to what I actually say in the video. I mentioned I was indifferent to it but brought it up since I thought others -- specifically those new to Suikoden titles -- would find it to be a negative . I've beaten each mainline Suikoden title multiple times so I anticipated the inventory management aspect of the game hence my indifference.
Ive sunk 10hrs into the game and loaded up today and it said the dlc items are available and i have to start a new game to get them? Is there another way? Haha
This isn't a full review as I haven't completed the game so I'm not putting a score on it. What I will say is that while not a perfect game, I am enjoying it thoroughly thus far, and if you are a fan of the early Suikoden games, then you'll no doubt like this game.
30hrs already? Lol try going outside . It’s cool to play games but damn. You also read Japanese? Lol you have turned yourself into a stereotype. Keep doing you though! Very great review.
30 hours isn't a lot given I've had access to part of the game for over a month and the full release for over a week. Also, a jab at being able to speak Japanese? That just comes off as being petty and jealous -- it's this "stereotype" that you think I am becoming that is the reason you can even play a game like this in the first place.
Try not commenting. Dude has had access to the game for a while and is doing a UA-cam review so you generally need to get in early when reviewing new games. The weird jabs at the creator about Japanese etc is making you come off as super insecure

I really didn't wanna like Falward because magical girl is best girl but he's like a sniper with his speed and accuracy.
That's what I was thinking when I heard about the dmg. I was betting there were some really busted support ones hidden around lol

Thanks for the review. Just purchased today and excited to play it.
Thanks for the quick impressions (much more pertinent than some competitors, you got yourself a subscriber).
Thank you for the review! Covers everything that I am looking for

Out of all the characters you can unlock, is there a character that is a parody of Mike Tyson?
as always a great video really like your reasoning and explanations they shouldve hired you to work on the game with the knowledge you have
Apparently 8-4 was involved

@RozalinGaming
8-4 have done a lot of bad TL works afaik.
Extremely lax about abusing creative rewrite...

Thanks for the review. Are there many missables in the game? Like, characters you have only a small time window to recriut or missable items?

I mentioned this in the video, roughly 10 hours on PC beta client and 20ish hours on PS5 (now close to 40 on PS5).

There will be no missable characters. But there will be a point of no return that will prevent you from recruiting.
Hi there, have u try the switch version? any loading annoying u or fps drop ?
I have only played the PC beta client and full release PS5 versions.
whose your favorite party member (in battle, not out of battle)
I don't really have a favorite at the moment, but due to how strong their Hero Combo is I keep Francesca and Falward in my party at all times.

Play this game only on ps5 or pc.... the loading times on ps4 / switch are horrible!
Does anyone know how it plays on switch

how have you played a game for 30-50 hours when it only 'just' started its 48 hour early access today?
I have had access to the beta client on PC for weeks and the full game since April 13th.
Sounds like he already explained his circumstances, but physical copies got to people who Kickstarted the game pretty early.
