Bamco made a mistake by not having IGN do the PvP guide their PvP guide is yet to be topped.
I didn’t really expect steel and jee to agree with cowboy’s interpretation of PvP fully (although he’s pretty knowledgeable and been with the series for a long time) since he’s quite lower on the sweat-o’meter. Someone that’s like right in the middle like Chase or Oro would probably be perfect for doing PvP guides

I dueled some guy doing a Giantdad cosplay and afterwards we were messaging each other on Xbox and reminiscing on the DS days. Right in the middle of our conversation, he came out with a “It sucks that Elden Ring is a downgrade from DS3 in every conceivable margin besides size”. I have never heard a truer statement.

When the game first came out, everybody was MLG pro because everything was strong and nobody knew what they were doing. You didn’t need to care about spacing and tech when you could just one shot someone with just about any ash of war.

Recommending peeve for pvp build is actually good because he encourages others to play with themed build diversity sorry to say unlike both of you jeenine & steelovsky you guys are playing as hardcore pvp player who play the game with almost no taste of souls fashion and aim for the best build for only pvp so the game will be full of the same fashion pure meta build. In dev's vision souls game is never meant to be tournament type pvp games.
Themed builds will always be more fun than meta. Saintsriot gets it
I think he made this guide around when the arena was released and bandi toke awhile to release it.
I don't really ever make fun of these guides because its not like there are any alternatives to learning. Trying to find a build/guide on Elden Ring pvp is not an easy task, in fact it seems like most of the actual good creators (good meaning competitively good) dont have any guides and also seem to not show their build in videos. Even finding out what weapons are good is annoying, all the weapon guides/tier lists are all either outdated or strictly for PvE.
Playing the game is the guide
The solution is to not bother with trying to find the best build... Just look at weapons and ashes you think look fun, see what stats they scale with on the wiki and make the build. Or if you really want builds that are at least decent, Steel and Jee almost always show stats in their videos and the weapons and ashes they use can be easily seen by just... watching the video...

I believe what he’s saying is that the game needs more full blown hand holding guides being created by good players, for newer players.
Your average call of duty Andy who just beat elden ring for the first time and wants to try out pvp, is not going to know what is going on by watching a steel or G9 pvp video. Trying to pause the video at the exact second that their stats are shown while they’re hard swapping isn’t gonna be enough to help someone understand pvp.
@@CurseSeer4561 Not sure about Steel, but I know for a fact that Jee often times blends in his stats for a good 15 seconds in the middle of his videos. And as I said, I really don't think you need to look up what weapons to use to start playing or even enjoying PvP (might change when more and more casual PvPers leave the game), but even if you do want that it's easy enough to just look at random videos, see a weapon that looks good/fun and just use that. It's not like hardswapping is a requirement for PvP (which also already has multiple tutorials by Jee and other UA-camrs)

We’re talking about full blown, in-depth, hand holding pvp guides for noobs. As in, taking the highlights of that lexicon for example, and dumbing it down for people who are freshly done with the story and want to get into pvp.
A guide that doesn’t force new pvpers to go looking in 4 different directions for answers, and instead consolidates information like stat allocation breakdowns, top 3-5 weapons to use with said stat allocations, poise breakpoints, viable spells/incantations, physik flask tear explanations, spacing, tech, parryable and unparryable attacks, ripostes, status, multiplayer, and other little nuances of the game that aren’t made apparent, etc.
A video like this helps, where pvp veterans are adding onto something that someone else created, this is a good start. But wouldn’t it be cool if someone with this kind of extensive veteran knowledge made a video with the same format as cowboy’s, but better?

Right now im currently on a new character and im actually going to give pvp a try for the first time in a souls game. Learning about the pvp lexicon is gonna be quite helpful. But grinding all the weapons and equipment is kinda a hurdle Im not enjoying. I just wish getting to pvp wasn't such a grind in the beginning. Pvp looks too fun not to try out though. Wish me luck!
For what he does cowboys pretty amazing honestly. He's gets walkthroughs out fast af. I used his plat guide for missed items.

Well. One the problems PVP really has is that you cannot make an invasion/ viable arena build by going through the game once or twice (NG/ NG+)
Some AoW are limeted and connot be multiplied, unless you have a buddy to help you
As well as +25 stones are limited (I thought DS3 experience would teach them)
As well as “tears” for resetting your stats are limited (so you cannot try your build, fail, try again and so on)
Of course, all of these limitations can be solved, but I’m talking about a normal “honest” playthrough of guy who just wants to try, to have some space to try PVP (Arena, Invasions, etc)
Lost has done way more for promoting PvP and invasions than any goofy Cowboy guide or Bandai Namco lol.

I honestly think his guide was spot on. You can't go in too deep otherwise you just intimidate people and scare them off. Show them a bit of what looks like fun gameplay and hope they jump in. Once in, if they're into it, they'll seek out the nuts and bolts of it on their own. Got Steely here bringing up fuckin spreadsheets n shit lol

If he started talking about stuff like ravioli stepping or dead angles, casuals might think it's black magic something. It's better to have simple "primer" guides on official channels becase it's easy to follow and helps people get in the game quickly.

On Xbox I have level 80 an 60 builds that have no problem finding invasions but can’t find a soul in the coliseum

There's no reason they would choose Cowboy for this apart from marketing. It's just because of the size of his following. He's not the right person to be making a semi-official PvP guide, seen by his lack of commitment to getting good clips of specific items and mechanics, and the straight up misinformation regarding invasions.

This video was kinda sad lol. I really hope the DLC makes some big strides in regards to multiplayer. The next major changes I would like to see are proper co-op/pvp incentives, whether that's covenants or a rune arc shop equivalent. Increasing the max player count and adding some more Arena maps. I know their capable after the wex dust patch, just crossing my finger at this point.

IDK I loved the dark souls pvp/invasions but I don't know what it is about Elden Ring's pvp/invasions but I hate it. It feels like it should be the same but something is off. Maybe it's the 4 player limit, maybe it's the BS jump attacks, or the OP AoW's but it's not for me. It's a great game and I definitely got my money's worth. But I hope FromSoftware doesn't do this again.

I know nobody cares but ive been watching cowboy since i was a little kid and it makes me feel actual joy that ive never felt before. Cowboy has always been my idol because of his charismatic and funny nature and im always glad to see him get recognition even though sometimes he might be wrong about somethings, but thats what makes him my favorite content creator because you can always be wrong and kearn from your mistakes.
