WW1 is a really interesting setting to cover, but unfortunately from a game design standpoint, picking a WW2 setting is just better both in terms of gameplay mechanics and getting the aesthetic right.
I'm happy that the WW1 Italians are getting their own game after all this time. Ever since BF1 I've always been intrigued to play through the other battles that Italians took place in.

Jack, you were playing in the Italian army, everyone around you was shouting in Italian. What sounded like "war machine" was actually "muoversi", which sounds somewhat similar, even though it is pronounced differently, and, in this context, it means hurry up.
I think people need to stop comparing this to BF1 because if you purchase this game thinking it is, you will be disappointed. Its a different game that follows the true combat nature of the Italian front of ww1, shooting from high altitudes andlong distances. I love the devs of these games because they are historically accurate using real battlefields of ww1 and they take a lot of attention to detail for many small things.

This game is more comparable to hell let loose but ww1 also theres no vehicles. If you go in expecting bf1 your going in totally wrong . This game is much slower and you die cuz of one shot most of the times doesnt matter which gun. Its supossed to be a somewhat hardcore realistic shooter bf1 isnt tryna do that at all.
3:02 I don't know if I can properly express the extent of how blown-away I was from the feeling of immersion when you used a shovel to dig into rocks and spawned an ammo crate. I mean I'm excited for the game; I'm a big fan of hardcore historical shooters that make their way to console so I wish it all of the best.
Anyone who’s interested, look up the Italian Front of WW1. Surely the most horrific place one could possibly fight a battle, however very interesting. Wish it was more well known amongst the general public since over 2 million men died there.
That is not a pirate hat but an Italian bicorne hat. There were more versions of these, different for naval usage, different for land etc. You can read more about these in the book titled The Italian Army of World War I (Men-at-Arms) by Osprey Publishing. Maybe you remember the french army or Napoleon about a hundred year before the WWI? They also like the bicorne hats.

This whole video of him being confused and learning everything as he goes is actually incredibly historically accurate especially in the mid-late war, especially because almost all of the battle hardened soldiers (the VERY VERY few that existed) stayed at the front to fight rather than coming back into the country to train new troops on what its actually like, leaving most if not all newer recruits completely in the dark on what the front was like
It will die. People are literally just too impatient for games like these. If they can't get a full auto and start spraying and slide dashing immediately most people will drop a game right away.
This game looks really great! Obviously a few things still need to be polished up and perfected, but all in all, I'm actually really quite impressed by everything. Can't wait to be able to play it myself.
This was great to watch ! Very funny commentary and the games big map with need for long range push makes it seem more realistic to me. Along with the trumpet which my grandfather played in WW1 the explosions were unique as well. This was a fun watch for sure Jack.

@@jackfrags :D... the Carabinieri nowadays are basically Military Police but they used to be actual combat units; elites so to speak. Their name derives from the weapon they primarily used: a carbine.
At the time Carabinieri were military police, they were infamous for executing mutinied soldiers. It took them decades to rehabilitate their reputation in Italy, and nowadays they perform mostly standard police duty alongside the Italian police

I’ll repost the comment I left under TBAG’s video. I live on the river of Isonzo, in a small town called Turriaco. The themes of wwi and its battles are really close to my heart because the war scarred permanently our land and its people. My house is built 300 mt away from an authentic wwi trench, and recently a wildfire blew up bombs buried in the ground, unexploded since 1916. All I’m saying is that I love it when developers work on games set in that timeframe. They help the rest of the world to not forget the victims of that terrible conflict.
i hope more games copy BF1, it's my favourite BF game after all. although I'm not into hardcore realistic games and prefer a more arcadey approach so I'll just stick with BF1 for now.

i honestly feel like they should take this game in a more immersive direction, all of the hud elements and kill feed and minimap is really distracting and just makes the game look like a slightly worse battlefield. they should just double down on actually being "realistic" like how they're marketing it to be

Seeing Jack use the Vetterli Vitali brings back good BF1 memories. I loved using that rifle.
